Do you think that Serena should try and attempt to have the career slam in mixed doubles? She's won Wimbledon and the U.S Open in 1998 and has reached the finals of Australia and Roland Garros. She would be the first player since Martina Nav to have the career slam in all 3 events. And to my knowledge, I think the only other player to do this is Margaret Smith Court.

What do you think? :D

Both the sisters should try winning the Mixed doubles slams that they are lacking. Would be nice to have a boxed set.

Actually, if you combine both Venus and Serena's mixed doubles titles, they would have all of them :)

I would love to see her try and do it next year. :D

But I see this as something she will do when she's about done with tennis. Which is cool too.

Not next year, while she's at the top of the game she should concentrate on singles.

I think Navratilova completed a grand slam in everything 3 years ago, hasn't she

serena won't play mixed next year, don't see this happen at all...especially not at the 2 slams which are more physical than the other ones

It would be fun to watch certainly. Serena's accomplished all there is in ladies doubles so outside of practice there's no reason for her to continue with that.

Really? What year did Serena win the Grand Slam in doubles? When did she break the all-time record for doubles majors? I can't believe I missed all that.

Navratilova completed the Boxed Set in 2003 with the AO mixed.

Serena has been into all 12 finals just lost the AO and RG mixed finals. I have always wanted her to go after it, I think it'd be a great thing to see someone accomplish. But if she has ambitions to do it I hope she starts soon, can't just expect to show up one year and win them both. I wonder if she'd play with Mirnyi again, or Blake, Fish?

She's won all the Grand Slams yes. Still gotta get that no.1 and I don't believe she's ever qualified for a YEC let alone win one.

Really. She has all the slam titles in doubles at least once. Conversely if this is the case about the 'Grand slam', Serena then needs to keep on playing tennis, even into her old, old, old age perhaps past Navy age until she gets the grand slam in singles and breaks the all-time record for singles. She only needs the French/Australian in mixed, that would be great and I hope she gets it. She can start next year :D

Exactly. It's mixed doubles for goodness sakes.

Bob Bryan would be the ideal partner for her. They'd be near unbreakable.

She can just just show up and win, so no pressure to hurry.

i think when the single slam titles start to become more difficult to obtain, then she'll go for the box set, but i dont think she's gonna waste energy on mixed doubles when she can still win the singles.

True  She could have actually got it all done then and there thinking about it.

But I hope she goes for it sooner rather than later if she wants to win them, never know how many chances you will get. Has she ever said anything about trying for the boxed set?

They interviewed her around Wimbledon about it. She said she was knowledgeable of the fact that she needs those two but she keeps choosing to play doubles with Venus over completing them.

There's no way Serena is going to enter three events at a slam.

True, all it takes it a bit of luck either way, perhaps she's waiting for a really good partner

I hope she does in the coming years, preferably next year.

Doris Hart as well. BJK is only missing AO doubles which she lost twice in the finals and played AO 5 times for doubles.

Mixed Doubles wasn't played from 1970 to 1986, so she didn't have many chances, along with the fact she then could only play to win it 3 times up until her fourth where she won it in 2003.

They qualified in 1999 I believe, but Serena withdrew from the YEC and they were first alternates in 2000 and would have gotten in the draw had Venus entered the event.

If the Sisters can get to #1 in doubles this year, which they could if they win the Open and the YEC plus playing a few other events, Serena might want to play the Mixed next year since there won't be much else to earn in doubles.

I think she'll put it off for a few years, though. No need to go after it now when her and Venus are doing so well together.
