should qualifying and itf matches be allowed to count towards a players win-loss records?? i realise this is a preety unimportant question but the wta site counts qualifying matches towards a players win-loss records, but i wouuldnt count them as proper tour matches.

for example, serena's 1998 record is 29-11, but it really should be 26-11 as 3 matches she won were qualifiers, so her win-loss record is slightly inflated.

also, sveta's win loss record in 2002 is listed as 48-15 - which is probably better than anyone apart from serena, venus and maybe kim that year, but its because she played a lot of itf matches.

im bored.

roll on stanford.

Only WTA Tour main draws, Grand Slam main draws, Olympics and Fed Cup matches should be counted towards win-loss record.
It's ridiculous that, according to the WTA site, the likes of Cirstea, Kleybanova or Rybarikova have better W/L ratio than Tauziat, Myskina or Hantuchova.

I prefer how the ATP counts the wins and defeats

Yeah it should only be WTA/Slam/Olympic main draws and Fed Cup World Group in my opinion.

I believe the WTA activity pages just count up the "W" and "L" for the record at the bottom of the page. In some cases I've seen the byes are counted as wins too.

I don't think the byes are counted, and the w/o aren't either. I am pretty sure I've checked for my faves. When I make stats I don't count ITF tournamnets or Fed Cup at all. But I do count qualifying of slams and WTA.
