Venus:
Best - 2000 Won USO/WIM/OG and had that crazy winning streak.
Worst - 2006 w/ 2004 coming in a close 2nd. Spent most of 2006 injured and eventually had to have surgery, finished 2006 outside the top 50 I think.

Serena:
Best - 2002. Won USO/WIM/RG and played at an incredibly high level. Amazing stuff from Serena that year.
Worst - 2006 w/ 2005 coming in a close 2nd. But spent most of 2006 injured and out of the game. Finished the year outside the top 100 I think.

Davenport

Best year: 1998, it's when it all happened for her. US Open, year-end no.1, summer winning streak, 6 titles. 1999 with Wimbledon and YEC and 7 titles could also be put as her best. Either one.

Worst year: 2003 (as a full season, 2002 and 2006 were only partly played). Coming back from 2002 surgery, only won 1 title, saw a few more questionable losses from Linds than usual, to Farina, Sugiyama, Bovina and in general a lower level of confidence than usual. (Of course her pre-breakthrough 93, 94, 95 years were worse but I mean as an established player).

Ivanovic

Best year: 2008 (loving these 8th years :hearts:), again it's when it all happened for her. 2 slam finals incl. RG title. No.1 ranking. That first half of the season was Ana at her best for sure. 2007 easily her second best.

Worst year: 2009? :sobbing: Has only reached 1 final and total 3 QF's, yet to reach one since Indian Wells. So far it's looking along the lines of her 2006 season but at least then she won a title.

Tati:

Best.

2006: Miami SF, USO QF, Stuttgart Final but Injury fucked her up from Miami til the USO Series and then again in the indoor season.
or
2007: 2 titles; Amelia Island Tier II, Portoroz MM, Stuttgart Final, Zurich Tier I final, but injury fucked her up from AI til the USO Series too and at the end. :help:

Worst.

2008 or 2009 (If she doesn't come back this year): Do I need to explain? :help::help::help::help::help::help::help::help:

Hingis - Best: 1997...winning 3 grandslams, completely dominating the tour with her great shot variety and anticipation. What stuck out to me was her natural talent. She never looked like she was trying, every shot she hit looked so easy and natural, and you can see on the other side of the net how hard it was for the opponent just to keep up with her.

Worst: 2002 I suppose...that's when everything started going downhill. So close to winning in Australia, then injuries started to come, and of course retirement at the end of the year

I was supporting Hingis in that 2002 AUstralian Open Final. If she had won that match would the year of panned out differently?

Dementieva's best season was without a doubt 2008. Three titles including biggest title of her career, handful of top ten wins, three tournaments where she beat two top ten players, two GS semifinals + one QF, almost every tournament was QF or better...that's pretty nice.

2004 did have the four big finals she made (beating Mauresmox2, Capriati, Kuznetsova, V. Williams), but so many first round exits, shitty losses/upsets, one MM title...bleh. It's her second best season...sad.

Her worst, without a doubt, 2002. She lost to Roesch three times that year, and only made one MM final and a TII SF, which was the most amount of pts she had accrued all year in one tournament. :tape: Lost 2R to Schiavone at USO and overall barely won a match between Wimbledon and the indoor season.

Serena's best year to date will without a doubt be 2002

She won 8 singles titles
3 majors ( RG,W,USO)
Obtained the #1 Ranking
and loss just 5 matches that entire season

Serena might be on course to win three majors again this year but this wouldn't make it her best.Serena had alot of bad losses this year.
Losing the Miami final to Azarenka
An abysmal clay season but made it the qrts of RG
And that 4 match losing streak

But in all this was another great season for Serena, it will be even better if she can win the USO, win the year- ending championship and earn that #1 ranking back. With that all that said 2009 could easily be Serena's second best season

Serena's worst would have to be 2006. Some will say 2004, but in 2004 Serena managed to
Win Miami for a third consective time
Made the quarters of the French
Made the finals of Wimbledon
Won the China Open
Was a finalist at the year-ending championships

In 2006 Serena was really nowhere to be seen on the tennis courts, she loss in 3rd rd of the Australian, missed both RG and W, and had a descent run at the USO but and ended that year ranked 95 . So 2006 IMO would be Serena's worst season of her career

Caroline Wozniacki

Best season: 2009

Reached Madrid final, won Eastbourne, Ponte Vedra Beach, final of Charleston but her majors progress probably went backwards from 2008.

Worst season: hasn't quite happened yet as an established player.

I am just a bit bored, so I did this:p
Venus
Best beginning to the season: 2002, followed by 2001
Best clay season: 2004 (1999 is a close second but she lost to a Canadian nobody)
Best grass season: 2001, 2005, 2007:p
Best summer hardcourt season: 2000 followed by 2002
Best fall season: 2008, she rarely plays the fall or does well in it, so 2008 was a great exception.
Best overall season: 2000.

Worst beginning to the year: 2004
Worst clay season: 2001, after winning Hamburg it all went downhill.
Worst grass season: 2004 (not counting 1997)
Worst summer hardcourt season: 2004
Worst fall season: arguably 2004 (she almost lost to Fedak, excluding her seasons of no play.)
Worst overall season: 2004 is her worst full season, 2006 is her worst season since she played just played 6 events.

Venus.

Best- 2000. Beat Hingis for the first time in a Slam, won Wimbledon which then ignited a 35 match winning streak. Won all the US hardcourt events she entered, including the USO. Olympic gold in both singles and doubles.

Worst- 2004. Absolutely no top 10 wins all season. Lost to Raymond and Sprem at the majors, and in fact lost all her Slam matches in straight sets. Had a good clay-court season, but was blighted by injury going into the French and played a screamer of a match against Myskina. Had a dire European indoor season too, losing to Bovina in Moscow.

Best 2006/2007 - 3 titles/wimbledon final

worst 2008 - no titles, best achievement was a tier II final i think where she lost to Wozniak who was a qualifier!!

Svetlana Kuznetsova:

Best: 2004, 3 titles with USO as a 19yo, nearly winning 4 with mps against Rena.
2006, revival with FO final, Miami title and 2 others
2009, so far 2 titles with FO

Worst: 2005, needless to say, saw her nearly drop out of top 20
2007 & 2008: combined 11 finals with just one win

By having a cakewalk draw, playing shit tennis and disgracing herself in the final, that's not quite an achievement.

I actually think 2007 was Kuznetsova's best season alongside 04. Firstly she had her highest ever y/e ranking of 2, it was the season which she reached the most finals, it was the only season she made the 2nd week of every slam, and she actually beat Henin. Definitely not comparable to 2008.

ITF player of the year

Worst 2007

lost in 3 sets to Dulko for her first match of the year in Auckland
tried to play RG but lost 1 and 0 to clay court queen Shaughnessy for her last match ever

Ági so far:

Best: 2007 broke through with Budapest semifinal then won Palermo and Beijing and reached US Open QF and New Haven F where she retired ahead a set.

Worst: 2008 one final at the beginning of the year and many chokes. Basically a bad sophomore slump.

Best-2003. WTA title in Auckland and reached #14.
Worst-2008/2009. Won Hobart in 2008 but then was out for months and still hasn't been the same player since she got injured:tears:
