the match showed a good tennis only in the 2nd set when both played decently...then Flavia decided to be as powerful as a worm and there were no story to tell:help:

Since when does Caro consistently use the drop shot? Didn't always work, but it was nice to see, combined with a little slicing and dicing which suggests that she's spicing up her counter-attacking game. Also much more aggressive hitting from her than in the past few matches.

At least Wozniacki played some offensive tennis to win. Nice crumble after the second Flavia. :yeah::rolleyes:

Well done caroline, nothing spectacular again but just enough on the day to get through.

Flavia played well in patches but not often enough. Her 1st serve really let her down - she was getting very few in at all in the 1st set and her shot selection at crucial times was pretty poor leading to alot of stupid errors.

Flavia, that was horrible, light years way from the aggressive tennis she was playing in the fall of 08.

Pretty boring match.

Flavia started really bad, her serve was nowhere at all in the 1st set, so I'm kinda proud she fought and took the 2nd set like that.
She should stop collapsing after winning a tough set though, it happens too often!

Terrible 3rd set by Flavia

Overall it was a bad standard match, but Flavia just went to an even lower standard in that final set.

Some of her shot choices were crazy, and that serve :help:

I don't think that it was that bad, it was close match all the time, there were some very nice points from both but Caroline is more stable, this is why she is top 10 and Flavia not...yet.

and will never been if she doesn't play the whole year as she played in the last fall (if she had reached the final she would have been 14)

When the day comes the trolls stop posting that kind of thing, they will also stop pulling wings of flies, stealing old ladies purses, hitting children and other such psychopathic pastimes.

Why is she playing a red clay event straight after Wimbledon.

Is this really neccessary.

I guess because it is the closest thing there is to a "danish" wta tournament, since its pretty close to denmark and the swedes a rooting for her too.

There might be some novelty to that at the beginning of your career but at this stage not really.

Will all Kazakh players show up in Tashkent???

These tournaments in Europe after Wimby are so random imo. On clay also
I thought Caro would just take time off before US Open Series begins.

that description is so funny...and unfortunately too true for Flavia.

It was a very good match, both players played well throughout the match. In the beginning they where, stroking the ball, 'nice' tennis, 'nice' winners etc. Then the battle started, they both wanted to be in control, not being the one doing the running on the baseline etc. In the third set, Caro just went for broke, it would not have been a shame for her to loose to Flavia, she raised her game and increased pace, and suddenly Flavia looked a bit flat and tired, and was not able to stay with her any more. That the Flavia fans are a bit disappointing is understandable, but she did well.

Caroline, the queen of MM titles. :P

Yeah right. If Caro wins this she'll have 6 titles , 4 if them Tier IV/III/International and two Tier II/Premier.

So she only really has 4 MM titles , doesn't even begin to compare to Anabel Medina Garrigus' 9 :p

Best I've seen Wozniacki play since the Charleston SF. She was hitting deeper and with more authority than the usual, going DTL to force Pennetta on to the defensive, and really exposing her subpar movement. Makes Wozniacki's awful performance in the final even harder to understand.

I thought that Pennetta had to tools to take out Wozniacki, but she was outplayed for the most - even from a tactical POV, which was quite surprising.
