hi all,

I already talked about this in the other thread and only 2 people said it was a good idea but I start it anyway if it isnt a sucses it will just go away.
over here we can talk about everything like music or what happend the day. like for example about micheal jackson or the weather.
it just a idea on the sveta section we already do it for a while and got to know each other better once its started its fun.

I will start with telling something about myself and you all can join in if you want to.

my name is melanie I became 23 today and I am from the netherlands.
I am not that long fan of sammy but she is growing on me.
besides tennis I like horse back riding, music, shopping and all kinds of animals.

well think this is enough to get in so I stop and have more to talk about next time.

Well let me be te first non-(really big)-sveta fan to post...

My name is Peter and im 19...
Im a HUGE tennis fan but apart from that I love reading...

Probably the most interesting thing about me is my nickname (wedgie) but there isnt a scandalus story behind it, one of my friends name is Maria and I call her Mario. So, she called me Lawgi (cant spell) and one day she said La wedgie by accidnet and it stuck...

so interesting name, not interesting background to that name...

that all from me for now!!!

Im a newbie on Sveta and Sammys forum

Sharapova and Amelie are my first loves :worship:

Interesting question time which tennis player male or female made you become a fan of tennis or was your first ever tennis hero?

Mine is obviously Sharapova and then shortly after it was Mauresmo :D

Im Jordan. Im 16 and pretty obsessed with tennis. I love to chat. I coach little kids in tennis and Im also addicted to myspace haha. I have been one of Sam's biggest fans for about four years now  Apart from tennis and really like movies and just laughing. I laugh pretty much all the time. I am going to study Law in uni and hope to become a sucsessful lawyer. Other than Sam I also like All the aussies (mainly Ferguson) Safina, Lisicki, Bacsinszky. I play alot of tennis myself and play in a few AR tournaments. Anyway thats enough about me.

First real off topic piece of information...

I got my :worship: Harry Potter 6 :worship: OPENNING NIGHT TICKETS!!! How cool is that??? hahaha
Im so excited I can't wait.

As for the first person who got me interested in tennis I really can't say, I'm a sports nut and love almost all sports but I think (like most aussies my ages) grew up watching the slightly biased television coverage of Hewitt. Not that i'm complaining its just that is all they mostly show so, i'd probably say Hewitt even though im not one hundred percent sure...

Hello guys,

My name is Annette, I'm 23 years old (well..in a couple of days) and I'm from the Netherlands.
Obviously I love tennis. I have been following ATP and WTA tennis since 2000. Sammy is my number one favourite. The first time I watched her play was at Wimbledon 2006 against Michaella Krajicek and I liked her ever since. Other players I like are Kuznetsova, Dellacqua, Lisicki and Rennae Stubbs. Stosur/Stubbs doubles team rocks :)
I'm a student and studying keeps me pretty busy but in my time off I love playing sports, singing, listening to music, reading, hanging out with friends and many more things.
I think I should mention as well that I absolutely love Australia! My plan is to move to Australia when I have finished my study.

This is a cool thread, thanks for opening it!

yeah I am the wellness centre was great except my mum making a lot of noise with sleeping. but I can reccoment it to all tennis players. I had a face massage and some weird austrain thing called knaxenofen. or something like that and something you had to lay in sand and then you get 24 hours on the beach in 45 minutes. that was it and ofcourse all the different pools with different waters or smell. and a lot of nice food.

I used to travel alot with a sport I did when I was younger and I met alot of Australians and they were so friendly and such a laugh :)

Also my cousin and his wife live out there plus a very special person to me also works out there most of the year so alot of things attract me to Australia but also alot keeps me in England like family and friends (especially my best friend who I couldnt live without )

Great idea to open a thread like this :yeah: Hi to everyone who has posted in here.

My name is Ben as some already know. I'm Australian but was adopted from South Korea. I love following tennis & I love to play it! :D I'm 20 years old, currently studying at university doing a business degree. I like to go to the movies & hang out with my friends every now & then. I like to go for walks & runs on the beach pretty much every week to keep myself fit. I listen to music a lot (any type, except gothic rock & heavy metal).

Yeah & I can't wait to see the new HP6 movie :)

I know how exciting...
Ohh i wish i could play the piano, I tried and failed dramatically. im just not very good at using my left hand for anything... I would love to learn to play the violin, to me that is the most musical of instruments (if that makes any sence to anyone but me i will know another weirdo exists in the world )
oh the question as "why choose england over Australia?" well i would love to go for a holiday to england but i like my sunny days (more then 3 per year) so i guess im happy where i am.... Australia

Yes I agree on your reasons. Plus having family and some really good friends living out there that I would love live closer to.
Leaving your family and friends is definitely a hard thing. Although there are so many ways to keep in touch these days. Thank God for Skype and Messenger.

Well technically its not classed as a sport but I was an irishdancer when I was younger from around 3 till 16 years old and I travelled all over the world competing in competitions like America, Scotland, Europe, Ireland, France etc...! :)

But I got to the age of 16 and my Mum & Dad decided that when I was 17 they were going to move to Spain and I said I didnt want to go with them so I had to quit Irishdancing so I could afford to pay for my flat, bills and car!

Also I played football (Soccer) from the age of 5 and I was in a couple of teams growing up and at 16 started to get quite serious with it and Ive been playing semi-professional in my local Ladies team for a couple of years now so that also took me away from dancing but I love them both equally :worship:

Scouse, that word again. I went out with my sister and her fiance and a couple of people a few weeks back and one of them was from Liverpool, I loved her accent. I wanted to steal it!! See when I hear aussie accents amongst other accents I reckon we sound a bit weird, especially the more bogan areas, they just sound argh. I probably shouldnt say it being an aussie and all but we sound lazy

But any british accent or irish accent on a guy is just :hearts: Im so worried when I go over there cause it'll be everywhere, which I guess is half the fun :p

Hay everyone...
Just got back from seeing Harry Pooter 6, and I give it a(n)... Exceeds Expectations (or for those who dont know what im talking about - an 8/10). Good movie, great suspence, not AS rushed as movie five (maybe that coz it goes for like 2 3/4 hrs)...
LOVED: the pensive, the bird hermione makes, how the memories are created, the outside of the cave, the bit about half way though the film (not in the book)
HATED: The island, the potion on the island (wrong colour), thats about all really...

P.S. Can anyone please tell me if they do NOT think of golum at all throughout this film... Thanks

This thread's really a nice idea. I've already been around here for a while, but sorta never really introduced myself I think.

I'm Jasmin, 18 years old, an Aries (like Sam and Rennae , Sam's birthday is on the same day as my fathers) and I'm from Austria, but my mother language is Slovene. I'm totally a metalhead, although I also like other kinds of music, mainly electronic and stuff like that, but also classical music. I'm mainly into Sci-Fi-series (my favourite is Battlestar Galactica) and horror movies (fav is Silent Hill), my fav movie overall is V for Vendetta. I used to play tennis with my grandfather when I was small, but then he got sick and I only started again one year ago with a trainer (anniversary is next week  ). I intend to make my passion my profession and become a tennis teacher and compete in national tournaments. I competed in one n.t. so far, but lost in the first round; but it was a highly interesting experience - I got the chance to really learn a lot about me as a player there. I'd like to believe that I will get the chance to play an ITF tournament some day, that would be my highest goal, but I don't know, I think it's really unlikely unfortunately. Other than that I like to bore people with palaeontology, astronomy, philosophy, history, politics and the like. My favourite author is Anne Rice, fav artist Victoria Francés. As for my fav players, just look at my sig. And I'm totally nuts for the Australian accent.

Hey everyone, I'm a newbie here too! I think I'm the only Irish person here, I'm delighted ye all love the accents ;)

Well anyway, I'm Hannah, I'm 15, and I've been a Sammy fan for about....2 weeks  Well, I've always been interested in her (aka about 3 years or so) But I started random Googling a few weeks ago, and...well..., I'm officially hooked! As you can probably guess from my sig, Amélie was my absolute no.1, still can't believe she's gone... I guess that's partially why I went looking for someone new and relatively successful! I'm also a massive Sveta fan, like, really really big! But I have no doubt Sam will get on par with her soon ;) My year revolves around Wimbledon by the way, most people look forward to Christmas or their birthday or something all year, but for me, Wimbledon takes the cake! I'm lucky to have gone in 2008, Sam was actually the first player I saw! And then this year, I was there for the first 2 days, and Women's finals day, in the Second row, right behind the chairs! Unfortunately Sam and Rennae were on the other side..but overall it was an amazing experience! And i'm going to the first 2 days again this year, I can't wait! Anyhoo, I look forward to talking to you all!

(Sorry for the long post :P)

Oh, and hope you all have a very happy new year! :)

Right !!! But I'm running out of ideas right now (maybe because I just woke up not long ago....not fully awake  ).

sunsets21
Mar 25th, 2010, 11:21 AM
You should be proud to be French - you guys have Amelie Mauresmo! I think you mentioned that you were a fan of Amelie as well, right? Did you watch her ceremony in Paris? I still don't have the heart to watch it because I know I'll end up crying my eyes out if I see it.

Sam mentioned that she has problems adjusting her sleeping patterns because of the time difference in her blog. Poor thing .

Drine
Mar 25th, 2010, 11:31 AM
Yeah, well, the time difference is only 3 hours !!! Come on Sam, that's not so terrible :help:

Yes, you're right for Amélie, I was a big fan, well I still am, but now that she's retired, we're a little bit like orphans you know
I miss her a lot actually, not only for her tennis but also for her personality on and off court. She is a great person really.
I did watch the ceremony in Paris and it was so moving. Some players were there: Dementieva, Schiavone, Pennetta, Cornet, Razzano, Kleybanova.... She cried (of course) especially when her mother came on the court with some flowers: that was horrible to watch, everybody was crying !!!:sad:
They showed some videos on a big screen and some players had some few words for her: special mention to Elena who speaks fluent French and she's had some very nice words to tell Amélie.
Schiavone also spoke (in English this time) but it was more fun with her. She said at the end "don't come back !!!" as she hasn't got great souvenirs from their matches !!!  Fran is so cool !!!
Anyway, her official website and forum shut down now and all we have is her Facebook page....pathetic !!!

sunsets21
Mar 25th, 2010, 11:45 AM
The 3 hour time difference can be a bit confusing though. I was amazingly confused when I went to Dubai and the time difference was only 4 hours . Wish me luck when I go to the UK - the 8 hour time difference is going to kill me!

I saw a bit of Dementieva's speech. I couldn't understand it, of course, but it seemed pretty sweet of Lena to do that. Besides, something about the French language is . You can be proud of that as well, Drine ;). Saw Schiavone's speech as well - she can be pretty hilarious sometimes. Didn't see the part where Amelie cried though. Just seeing the pictures of Amelie crying while hugging her mum was depressing enough, I don't think I can stand to see her cry .

Amelie's forum on the tennisforum is still here and alive. Pretty awesome people there as well - it was someone from there who gave me the picture for my avatar :hearts:.

Huntress55
Mar 26th, 2010, 04:51 AM
Oh yeah definately. I actually dont think Ive ever heard a Jonas Brothers song though, maybe a few snippets or something. Or Miley Cyrus.
Lady Gaga has good music to dance to, Ill give her that. But it took me a while to catch on to her music, I dont really listen to the radio much so I have no idea what most of the songs my friends listen to are :p..

sunsets21
Mar 26th, 2010, 05:50 AM
Same here - I never know what's new in music . I prefer 80's and 90's music, to be honest. The Jonas Brothers/Miley Cyrus songs I've heard aren't TOO bad but it's the fact that everyone goes crazy about them that makes me not like them :p.

Same with Twilight - it was a decent book but I don't understand all the love people have for it. No offense to Twilight fans but Harry Potter is a much better fantasy series and anything written by Nicholas Sparks is much better if you're looking for romance novels.

Huntress55
Mar 26th, 2010, 06:09 AM
Yeah I love oldschool music :hearts: -

I have a love/hate relationship with Twilight. I love the books, butthe movies werent that great. I dont really like the actors in it which doesnt help. And the people constantly talking about it! I remember going to see the first movie and before it even started this group of 12 year olds (at least they looked 12) were dicussing which parts of the movie they though they would like the best, and which parts they should dicuss after
And now they've got that crap Vampire Diaries on TV. Nothing will ever beat Buffy in terms of Vampires on TV :p

Harry Potter will always be my fave series.

I love Nicholas Sparks books, and I also love the movies too. Some of the only book to screen adaptions that I like (besides HP of course).

sunsets21
Mar 26th, 2010, 06:57 AM
I love listening to 12 year olds talking about Twilight. Their conversation mostly consists of sentences like "Edward's so hot!" and "Jacob's hotter than Edward! Team Jacob!". Personally, I would have gone for Alice but that's just me ;). Robert Pattison was alright in HP so I don't know why the acting was so bad. Kristen Stewart is playing Joan Jett in "The Runaways" so I hope she does well there. She can't mess up a movie on Joan Jett's life...right?

Is Vampire Diaries that bad? Never seen it. I was really young when Buffy was showing so I don't remember much but I remember it used to freak me out quite a lot (which is a good thing). I think I preferred Xena though .

Nicholas Sparks is an awesome author. "The Notebook" was sweet and depressing but "The Wedding" and "Dear John" are my favourites. They're amongst the most romantic books I have ever read :hearts:.

Huntress55
Mar 26th, 2010, 07:08 AM
Thing is Edward isnt that hot, and Jacob is much too young for me haha.
Yeah I really want to see the Runaways because I think Kristen Stewart will actually suit the role and make me like her more!

Yeah I watched the first episode of Vampire Diaries and had to turn it off.
Whinging girl, check.
Brooding Vampires, check.
Cheesy lines and acting, check. But if you like the Twilight movies you'd like that I guess.

I loooooved Buffy. I also loved Xena though and Hercules! They have repeats of Xena on the Sci-FI channel, and I watch them when I can. Some of the jokes I so would not have got back then. ;)

I havent read the Wedding, will have to get to it. I have no time atm though, I have a gazillion books to read for Uni.

I haven't read a single book or watched a movie of Twilight or Harry Potter. Don't know why.... Probably because of this buzz around it, it got me on my nerves....
Personally, I'm more into thrillers and authors like Stephen King, Maxime Chattam...
And I have to say I never go to the movies  I'd rather stay at home in my bed in front of my TV watching a DVD. That's life !!! ;)

Dad had a crack but said he was ready to burn the books after the first couple of chapters, did watch the movies though. hey,,,this is an amazing off topic cus I'm about to finish reading Twilight. I was told by everyone at work I was the only person in the planet who hasnt seen the movie so one of my colleagues who is extremely addicted to the vamp subject, lent me the DVD and the book. I dont think i paid much interest cus I hate the corny vampire series and horror movies, but I have to admit, much to my disappointment, I liked Twilight. Perhaps was how the blood suckers are portrated as sophisticated, well travelled, stylish intelligent people, to make them different from the narrow minded small village people from Forks, who never seen anything else outside their homes. Not that I would give it an oscar but Its way better than I thought!

Lady GaGa,,,hahahha,,,I dont even know what to think anymore. Before I even knew what she looked like or who she was I used to sing her songs all the time,,,then I saw her in a couple of interviews and she amused me,,but then I got bored of always listening to the same rubbish.,,and now suddenly I like her again and I was even considering going to her concert to see what she is all about  ..but be sure I wont wear any coke cans in my ears if I do go

I much prefer sporting crowds, everybody in their own seats. Sure people get loud, and some even get violent but its just more of an open space so it seems better :p

I prefer the big crowd of centre court at Wimby but I need to know if GaGa bird is a genius or just a clever lucky cow hahaha

No one becomes as successful as Gaga without some luck, but Gaga herself is really quite something. I love the fact she doesn't care what other people think. She perhaps single-handedly brought wackiness and quirky fashion into mainstream pop.

My friends bought tickets to her concert without telling me. But I have just started my part-time photography course so I'm out of cash anyway.

Theres quirky, wacky... and then there is tacky. Gaga crosses that line too much, thats what I dont like about her.

It's entertaintmet at the end of the day. Lady G knows what she is doing like Madonna did before. They make catchy music that almost everyone knows without even liking them and they achieve what they want by being topic of conversations for the good or wrong reasons :p

Haha Drine, I hate it when things get too much buzz as well. I hate High School Musical with a passion, despite never seeing any of the movies. I tried reading a Stephen King book but I think I never finished it. Maybe I bought the wrong book? James Patterson's "Women's Murder Club" is pretty good though. The HP books are definitely much better than the movies. I didn't really like the ending for the last HP book but it was a nice change from all the dying.

Who wouldn't love DVDs in bed on a lazy day? If you add hot chocolate and a cozy blanket, I'll think I'm in heaven :hearts:.

Some concerts are worth going to though. I'm a huge indigo Girls fan (very stereotypical, right?) and I'd go to their concerts over and over again if I could. A Lady Gaga concert...maybe, if you get me drunk enough . Just go to the concert, mcb. As long as no one starts a mosh pit (which I really doubt at a Lady Gaga concert), it'll be fun!

Oh and Drine, I loved Xena and Gabrielle as well. If they weren't girlfriends, then I'm the pope :p.

Mar 27th, 2010, 01:39 PM
Oh god, you watched that when you were little? Must have been bad memories, eh? :p. Xena's an ex-warlord so she probably would have some fun here and there but dude...have you seen her and Gabrielle? Besides, after the whole "mouth-to-mouth water transfer" thing in Xena's last episode, Lucy Lawless said that she felt the scene meant that Xena and Gabrielle are together and that they're pretty much married. If she says it, then it must be true ;).

From talking about Lady Gaga to talking about Xena...you gotta love the flow of conversation in this thread .

I never watched the Xena and Ares scene (or maybe I have watched it but I have selective memory). Not something I would probably wanna see though. It's funny how the writers deliberately made the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle ambiguous, yeah? They're soulmates so there shouldn't be any ambiguity ;).

Drine, I don't know how you can have 333 posts in about a week . You must have been posting like crazy, eh? I'm not surprised that Sam mentioned Franny and Sveta either. I was a big fan of the movie Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles but I´m not following the whole Twilight hype at the moment. Sandy and Drine...quite a difference. How did you get the nickname Sandy? My name's Diana, by the way. Funny that I've known you since the US Open series started last year (I think) but we never introduced ourselves :p. Oh, that's pretty cool! How big is it and how much did it cost? And was it really painful? There's this tattoo I've wanted since I was 11 or so. I want the tattoo Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC had on her left arm in memory of her and I want to get it on my back with the words 'Proud Sapphist' on top of it. Yep, Sam's on court 2. It seems that there are some cameras there but I haven't found any live stream yet, only for Wozniacki on the Stadium. Pffff....

Concerning my tattoo, I remember it was "reasonably" expensive. It lasted about 1 hour and surprisingly it didn't hurt. It was just a bit weird, I wouldn't say I didn't feel anything of course but not that painful. It all depends on people in fact, how you deal with pain normally and it also depends on the part of your body. Some parts are more sensitive than others....
It's not a big tattoo and I don't like big tattoos anyway. I just tried to measure it (if you could've seen me in front of my mirror...pretty funny ). It's about 12cm long and 7cm large ;)

Huntress55

Ive never fallen asleep in class, there are plenty of people who do at Uni though. Not tutes or anything, just lectures. And you walk past some benches that have people asleep on them which other people like to wake up :p

Haha I'll be that girl in uni who's always asleep in lectures for one reason or another . Drine, I see your question got picked! Early birthday present from Sam ;).

Which tennis legend would you have loved to play doubles with? Sandrine
Monica Seles or Steffi Graf

Not the most interesting one but...hey, I'm not gonna complain here

Hello everyone! Sorry I couldn't post last night, I was using my iPod, and was the battery kept going, so i'd have to run into my room to charge it for like a millisecond so I could get back to Internet reception! (this all happened during the tiebreak) And my parents were screaming at me to go to bed coz it was the middle of the night, so I couldn't turn on the computer! But I was here, in fact your posts with the scores were my only updates, as my iPod doesn't have flash!

Sorry for the random long post

That was a cool question as well ;) It´s interesting to know she´s a little afraid of flying atm. Hopefully she´ll overcome that very soon. I remember a Norwegian winter sports athlete who retired from her sport because of her fear of flying. But I don´t think it´s that serious with Sam ;)

Maybe they try to pick questions from as much different people as possible and when there´s a similar question they take it from the person they haven´t chosen before... ;)

Concerning Sam, this sudden fear of flying is indeed quite strange, I mean she must be used to it now and suddenly, she doesn't like it that much.

I was used to go to the dentist but now I have fear of it because so many people (friends, family, etc) say that they're afraid of it, that I ended getting this fear from them ¬¬' Maybe this hapened to Sam, or maybe she had a big scare in the plane, or maybe she watched films about plane crashes who knows hehe

 Me too actually! I take a few deep breathes and try to be constructive when defending her, if I choose to, becaues really everyone on this board is stubborn and once they've made up their minds its rare they can admit they might have judged too quickly, and they'll probably never give credit even if the player deserves it.
Sorry, dont worry I'm just a worrier! Have fun on your flight!

GM is a dangerous place. There are haters but these haters are pretty smart sometimes.

The last thing we want is insulting the haters without good arguments because it would just make us look bad.

I usually look out for the easy ones to attack. Double standards, hypocrisy or just plain idiocy. Make them look silly. I'd like to think sometimes they actually work.

There are haters that make good points but most just...don't. There are times when I flinch reading the comments some of our fellow Sam fans make though. They just give more fodder for the haters to feed on and in the end, make things worse. Not that it happens many times but it does happen.

That said, I do enjoy reading other Sam fans jumping on the haters that are easy to attack . Too bad that if someone makes a good point against the haters, everyone just ignores the comment as they're just stubborn that way. Ah well .
