First grand slam victory for Anna-Lena :yeah:

They were down 2:5 in the first (Black/Paes) had set points, but they fight and played really well

well done :)

Wimbledon Final! ;)

Congratulations to them, they thoroughly deserve it, so many impressive comebacks on their way to the title! This the big highlight of what has been an amazing return to the top of the game by Anna-Lena. :worship:

Shame for Cara and Leander, horrible way to lose the first set. :o

It would have been good for the best player in the world to finish with a title but she still has had a great tournament, a great year and looking forward for her to defend her 2 US Open titles later in the summer. :bounce:

this is a great moment for ALG, they were both so happy

ALG played so well!

Rightful winners won. Anna-Lena's serve is five classes above Black's and typically that decides mixed.

Mark has now won all 4 GS title, Wimbledon was missing in doubles, but now he won it in mixed :)

Certainly they played better in the end but let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's a big upset. Cara's serve is one of the weakest on tour but she's one of the best mixed doubles players which shows she usually makes up for it.

Well done to Knowles/Groenefeld! Knowles completes his career slam whilst Groenefeld wins her first ever slam

So happy for Anna-Lena :D Her smile was as wide as Centre Court when they won!

Big upset my ass. I agree Black is a good mixed player, but the quality of serving by the woman player is often the most important factor in mixed.

Oh come on, she might have won one already had she not been trained by this idiot... That's not a nice post at all.

Yeah she did, it's just that Cara's serve is a weaker serve and more attackable which I think was his/her point.

Rest is amazing. But yes it is sad Wimbledon is over.

I was a bit disappointed that a long of matchups didn't happen in singles and doubles.

Probably the one I did get to see on my list was Serena/Venus against Black/Huber.

Pretty much everything else that looked good on the draw for me went horribly wrong.

Not a nice post? I am a fan of ALG, her and Shaughnessy were a great team, same for Meg/Nadia, and was a huge slam contender IMO in doubles, but ALG won one first:p

At least we have 4 MM clay tournaments coming up to cheer us up :crying2: :crying2:

Why can't we toss in some MM grass tournaments after WIMBLEDON before the HC season starts :crying2:

All in Kent preferably :inlove:

Where is Meghann? Didn't she play a few tournament after coming back from that bad Hopman Cup injury?

Did she get reinjured?

She reinjured her knee, but is coming back for the US hardcourt season.

I agree Groenefeld/Shaughnessy were a great team, just came up a bit short in the slams, just like Petrova/Shaughnessy (although they got a YEC). I hope Meg comes back on the tour soon, she should have a slam by now :(

Marion would have WAY more than 4 titles.

Why can't we just have the hardcourt season here too? It would be much better!

Yeh, give tennis players more time in England!

Never understood why we didn't even have an indoor tourament in the Fall

Dave.
Jul 5th, 2009, 10:26 PM
They used to have a tourney in Brighton, all the top players went, they should have one like that now. We should have the WTA's YEC alongside the ATP Finals too :inlove:

We also have the Royal Albert Hall which could hold a women's event.
