View Full Version : Alberta Brianti wins Wimbledon's Plastic Fork Award

....or whatever it's called.
Essentially every player from Tathiana Garbin (who defeated Brianti) ends up losing to their opponent on the top half of the draw....i.e.
Brianti lost to Garbin
Garbin lost to Medina Garrigues
Medina Garrigues lost to Wozniacki
Wozniacki lost to Lisicki
Lisicki lost to Safina
Safina lost to V. Williams
V. Williams lost to S. Williams
Poor Alberta

Actually, as Brianti comes out of qualies, aren't e supposed to go back all the way till first round of qualies ?

If that's the case, then congrats to Hsieh Su-Wei who lost by walkover in the first round :o

I guess she should have thought twice before withdrawing :o

Very good question....not sure....but then again you're talking to the guy who first called this the Plastic Fork Award. What do I know? ;)
However if we go back to qualies than the "winner" would be Katalin Marosi.

No, we do not go back to Qualies. We start at Round 1 of the Main Draw.

Qualies are qualies, not starters.

Poor Su-Wei. Once a 4th Rounder at the Oz Open, now just a sore loser... (Lol, poor girl, she withdrew yet I'm still agressive...)

What's impressive about Jill is she managed to win her season leading three wooden spoons in consecutive events. That can't be easy to do.

Personally, I wish this would be re-named "The Spork". Somehow, that's more befitting of this honor than "wooden spoon"....
