Noppawan won the girls' singles and is a former No. 1 junior player, yet I never hear anyone on the forum speak about her?

Anyone watch her game--what is it that you like or dislike?

Poor serve, flat groundstrokes. Clearly idolizes Tanasugarn

First time I saw Nop play. While I admire her fighting spirit and consistency on her groundstrokes, I really think her serve is so bad for a pro player & she really needs to work on it. I can see how she gets overpowered in pro matches but Kudos to her win today & hope to see another Asian do well on the Pro circuit.

Well she finally got a slam. Let's see if she still plays junior events to the bitter end.
She is ranked at like 400 while Oudin, Pervak, Rogowska, Rus, Hercog, etc. are all top 200 because Noppawan basically only plays junior events. If she ever cracks the top 100 I'll be surprised.

Any Youtube of her final or other Wimbly match this 2009?

She hits flat double-handed both sides with a pretty weak serve. I like her fighting spirit. Hell Tammy has gotten away with her atrocious serve all these years. I hope she can have a decent pro career.

Can her serve be improved with training and/or physical development? Why is it weak? Just due to her current training program?

Nok is a player from Asia. It's no wonder very few talk about her on this board. :sobbing:

Her serve no doubt needs plenty of work, but it hasn't stopped other players with pathetic serves from making the Top 100.

She plays like Bartoli. Needs to work on her consistency though, and movement of course.

Well I think there's a reason why she's still playing Juniors at 18 rather than concentrating on the main tour. She has tried, don't get me wrong, but she's doing miserably :tape:

She's actually 17, which is neither here nor there, but a lot of people talk about 17 being the magic number for juniors, so I wanted to make that clear.

I wouldn't say she's doing miserably either..

She got a QWC into Wimbledon and lost to Manasieva who ended up qualifying and almost winning the 1R here at Wimby.

Aside from that she's had a rough 2009, on the WTA circuit, but last year in 7 challenger and satelites last year, she won a 25K, and a 10K ..

and we're only two years removed from her run at Pattaya when she qualified as a 15 year old beating Melinda Czink on the way, and pushing then top 100 Aiko Nakamura to three sets.

I think with her current game she could creep into the top 150, maybe top 100, but until she improves her serve it'll be a tough time to do much better. Although, she could easily be a threat on grass, and obviously has a decent net game. She's in the Wimbledon Doubles final tomorrow, and won the USO Doubles title last year, and the French Open title a month ago.

Some of you haven't even looked at Nok's junior results this year. She's only played 6 events (3 slams + warm-ups). Anyway, her primary reason for playing juniors this year has been to win a GS, and she's achieved that now.

She doesn't turn 18 until the end of the year, therefore still affected by the AER.

She's already won a $25K and a couple of $10Ks, so she's not doing that 'miserably'.

Her schedule however, is puzzling. Her last 3 ITF events were 3 clay tourneys in Croatia. Why on earth did she play those???

She need to improve her clay game for long term.Instead of enter plenty of 25K Hardcourt at Korea or 50K japanese grass which help her to rise ranking to top300

From Wimbledon official site blog:

Noppawan talks to the blog

By Michael Burke-Velji

“I played her before in last years semi-final. This year was even tougher against her then a year ago, she’s very good.”

“When she was up 2-love, I was determined not to give her another game because there is a huge difference between 2-1 and going 3-0 down. I had to fight hard because she started the match very well. I have a lot of experience from last year, I also played in the ladies qualifiers, and last week at Roehampton. I have played a lot of grass court games so I am ready for more tough matches.”

“It’s my last year in the juniors, and I’m feeling 100%. When I went 5-1 up, I started to slow my racquet head speed and Hendler started to fightback as she had to as the match was close to ending.”

“Hendler stopped the match for 10 minutes, complaining about one of my serves. I think she was getting tired and frustrated. I must admit, I got angry with an over rule that cost me my serve in the first set, but I tried not to show it.”

“I like a lot of players. Marion Bartoli because she hits very well and takes the ball early, like my style of two hands on both sides.”

“I like Williamses. Both of them. I know them a little bit, they like to come to Thailand, a few times, I’ve been shopping with them, and they’ve given me some tips on how to be a good player.”

“Paradorn Srichaphan, has just got married, to Miss World 2008, from Canada. She’s very beautiful. He and Tamarine Tanasugarn have both helped me with advice on how to make it from junior to pro. Tamarine did well at Birmingham and is a junior Wimbledon finalist, and Paradorn beat Andre Agassi here one time, grass is Tamarine's favourite surface and she’s shared her secrets with me.”

She needs to be abit more aggresive imo, her backhand is  when she goes for it, her serve obviously needs alot of work and the forehand needs a bit more pace and she'll be a good player :yeah:!

Terrible serve, flat strokes from both sites, now nothing special
