If Venus hits her Forehand like she did at Wimbledon, she will probably win the US Open. She needs a good Summer in order to gain confidence. The last two years at the US Open, she lost to Serena and Henin.

Venus is motivated cause she did not win Wimbledon and she will be flying under the radar this hard court season.

Hopefully but I'm quickly losing hope. I would've been happy for her to just keep winning Wimbledons.

She seemed really disappointed after losing this match so hopefully she'll pick it up and go and a tear and win a few of the other slams.

She's 29, it's now or never.

Yeah Venus will be like Serena last year after losing the wimbledon final. I think she's gonna have a great hardcourt season and of course she's gonna win the Us Open I want her to win it so bad. And I know she wants it bad too.

This is a bit premature. Let's see her manage one of the hard court tournies this summer. Also, I hope she can stay healthy. I'd LOVE it if she could win USO. She's definitely got the game.

Hmmm I just have to think Serena will be hard to knock. Now Serena has won 3 of the 4 slams and wimbledon, I want Venus to get her 8th at the US. Wow tho, Serena could level BJK at USO and her career could have a good few years at the VERY TOP LEFT.

If she's healthy, anything is possible. She has to stay hungry but then there is GrandSlamRena!!!

she really needs to learn to not give a fuck. you can tell she isnt able to put serena out of her mind as much as serena does to her. serena treats her like any other opponent and thats why she's so succesful against venus in slam finals. venus was just completely crappy today and serena brought her A game. she needs to learn that she needs to stop worrying about serena's feelings and worry about her own feelings. :o

Depends on whether she's injured or not.

that excuse is so old..

accept Serena was superior to Venus.. it's not that impossible to think.. Serena actually is the better player.

U guys act like Venus has to win every match shes played Serena.. and if she loses itz cuz she wanted to cuz she cares for her lil sis... puh-leeze

if Venus forehand stays sharp, she will give the eventual winner the toughest match of the tournament and blow her chances.

as uz.

or not. :D

Serena Won this match. She kept her calm and focused. Venus had her chances in the first set at 15-40.

Venus now can use this loss so she can get focused and win the US Open like Serena did last year.

Everybody was saying that venus would win against Serena at the US Open, and today too.

I think that the lesson to learn over the past six years is that it's hard for Venus to keep her forehand sharp on fast hardcourt. It's not like she magically becomes unsharp every August.

You could say that about any player.

Venus lost to Serena at 2008 US Open in a match where she actually outplayed Serena. In 2007, Venus lost to Henin in the Semifinals. So she is not losing to nobodies at the last two US Opens.

They tried to write off Venus a couple of times during this decade, and every time she has risen up to make them eat crow.

Look at the last two hard court seasons. Look at the Year End Championships. Venus has been playing well during the Hard Court Season. And I think this Wimbledon loss will motivate Venus to get a Grand Slam this Year.

I don't know. After today, I've come to accept that Serena is just the better player in the family. I know it took me awhile. I guess I just hope too much for Venus because I know she can win on all surfaces. Yeah she is getting older and the chances of winning is getting slimmer. But the younger generation has not really stepped up to the plate yet. So I think Venus can still win more majors before she retires. Davenport started playing well late into her career and I think Venus and Serena are doing the same. I don't know. I'm happy that Serena won, but I know that Wimby belongs to Venus.

I guess Venus was worried about Serena's feelings during the Wimbledon 2008 final when she trounced her in two sets. Are you forgetting that their head to head before coming into this final was 10-10. Some people on this board are so delusional with this mess. Check the facts.

If she couldn't win Wimbledon I can't see her winning the USO.

It's so tiring to read all those excuses. Serena is the smarter player, plays more aggressively, has fewer technical glitches in her groundstrokes. And this is true, because Tracy Austin said the exact opposite in her commentary during the final... "You can tell Venus thinks more about strategy."

That said, Venus was all taped up, and she's probably suffering from some injury this tournament which affected her movement.

Just looking at the highlights, you can see how Serena's Serve won this match. But I still say that Venus will travel under the radar and win the US Open this year (if she stays healthy and has a good forehand)

trounced her? that was a quality match even though it ended in straight sets. you act like venus gave her a safina beatdown. and how about her reaction at the end of the match? muted while serena looked like she was fighting displaying the shit fit she wanted to throw. venus always worries about herself and serena when they play. if you cant see it then youre the delusional one. check that.

The fact still remains the head to head coming into the match was 10-10. Venus defeated Serena in the Wimbledon final last year. I'm sorry but this proves that both sisters are over feeling sorry for each other in big matches. People like you keep promoting this idea when it's been proven false. The interesting thing is if Serena lost today this wouldn't even be mentioned. It's just another excuse on the part of those who believe Serena shouldn't be able to compete with her sister. Both are multiple slam champions, the outcome wasn't surprising to me. Actually, if Venus won I wouldn't have been shocked either.
