View Full Version : The Serena/Dementieva handshake was so cold...Sad.

They barely touched hands after what turned out to be one of the most memorable semi finals at Wimbledon. Guys would embrace each other, touch each other's tummy or whatever and have a nice short chat. Nothing of the sort among WTA top players matches. I think Dementieva initiated. She just acted like a cold robot. Not nice at all. It kind of spoiled the feat.

They don't like each other. There's no shame in that.

Dementieva was smiling, from what I remember. Didn't look cold at all.

I did not notice that.

Wait, it could be that she regret having agrred to let Serena win on Richard request.

You know... according to Dementieava, Mr. Williams has that persuasive power.

Who cares. Serena is in the final, Elena isn't.

And that's all folks. I would never be buddy buddy with a player that accused me and my family of match fixing not just once, but twice.

This coming from someone who is NOT a Dementieva fan and really doesn't like her....

I thought she was most gracious in defeat and did a magnificent job handling the situation. She was happy, smiling and congrulatory towards Serena. What more do you want from her?

Oh yeah, that fake, hypocritical smile we all get from most WTA players.

Oh the ultimate reply. Nice. "I killed you but who cares, I won"...:help:

Is there video evidence of this alleged incident.

It was hardly like Dani vs Patty

It was a 2 second handshake. I didn't think it was particularly cold either and at this point, no one except you has chosen to focus on something so trivial on the eve of the final.

This.

Seemed like a very warm ending to me. In fact, Lena went over to Serena's side of the net to shake her hand.

You really should watch the ATP more. Yes "no one except me", you're right. And no one except you has forced you to reply here unless relevant.

After a match like that you're tired, and wanting to get off court and go chill at the house..... The handshake is just sports etiquette.....I never put any emphasis on a handshake after a match. win or lose...

Just because there were not kissing, hugging or switching outfits at the net it doesn't mean it was a cold handshake.

Handshake seemed fine to me both girls were polite and smiling. If I were Serena I would def NOT be hugging or kissing Lena the handshake/smile was more than enough.

Please no "make out sessions" like they have on the ATP tour. :o I don't want to see that thank you. God, the men in the crowd would have to be tazered if the women started doing that.

It was fine. What do you want the girl to do she must have been devastated. She handled it just fine, I certainly have no problem with it.

There was nothing remotely cold about it :cuckoo:

What did you expect? Elena to go down and kiss Serena's feet and express her undying love? It was a firm, normal handshake. Stop being such an attention whore.

that wasn´t a cold hand shake at all, neither Elena nor Serena gives cold hand shakes, at least I´ve never seen Elena giving one, myabe to kuzzy a while ago....

a cold hand shake was something like Dani vs Ana in the AO semi, that was very cold

Elena is not bitter loser, this thread is pointless

There was nothing cold about the handshake. You've always found some meaningless shit to start a new thread and create controversy where there’s none. Are you this desperate for attention?

And as other posters stated, Dementieva has accused the sisters and their family of match-fixing a couple of times. Did you expect Serena to embrace and kiss her? Why don't you watch the ATP if you want to see players hugging and making out with each other?:o

Please, stop trying to make her look bad at every little given opportunity. Elena was very gracious in defeat and I don't think that there is as much bad blood between them as people like to think. What she said was a long time ago and she was a lot younger then.

I suggest you watch it again or even take a look at the pictures above because nobody likes a failed attempt to cause drama, contrary to your username.

:spit: at people sying Serena and Elena hate each other...They always compliment each other on interviews and you really don't get the hateful Serena when she's playing Elena, unlike when it's Sharapova for instance.

As far as the 'match fixing' story goes I think they have sorted it out by now...Elena was quite young, I'm sure these women have come to terms about it.

Stop making dramas where there are none.
