View Full Version : Wimbledon Centre Court is for "Babes Only!"

There has been a lot of controversy this week over why very few of the top WTA players in the world played their matches at Centre court.

For instance the Williams' sisters played most of their Wimbledon matches on the "outer courts" even though they were the favorites to win the tournament. World number one and top seeded Safina also played most of her matches away from centre count.

Apparently, Wimbledon officials and the BBC now admit the reason for these interesting "court assignments" is because tournament officials wanted beautiful women to occupy centre court.

Therefore this tournament has beautiful women with little talent and no chance of winning at centre court to attract fans. While the less attractive talented players were regulated to the outside courts.

I guess even at Wimbledon, what you look like is more important than how talented you are.

Here are some links to interesting articles regarding the topic.

I'm sure Roger Federer has never been bumped from Centre court because the 50th ranked player on the ATP is more handsome.

Don't worry about it, if people knew about this, they don't need to come in her and say anything. :)

Thank you very much. I do appreciate it.

Plus, if I could defend myself here for a bit.... this thread can't be any worse than the "million" WTA/Safina ranking system threads on the board, which all address the same topic!;)

If they want centre court only for good looking babes well they had better sabotage it in a hurry or it will be munted forever tomorrow!

If they were actually putting good looking players on center court over others, then they would of have put Ana on Center at least once so I don't believe this was the reason at all.

I have never understood fans that use women's sports entirely for the purpose of T*ts and A**. If that's what they want to see, I am sure there are plenty of clubs or bars in England that can accommodate that. You don't need Wimbledon.

I can understand looks being a "a factor" in marketing for any athlete or sport. But it shouldn't be "the factor" in marketing. But for women sports sadly, it is.
