So, Next Monday, our Nicole will be # 143 :haha:

First of all, what can she do now? Can she play WTA events, or she has to play ITF events?

What are your predictions? Can she go back to top 100 this year?

I can tell one thing: I think she won't have to play the qualifications at the US Open :worship:
And it could be really nice if she could play ITF events. She could rebuild her game, and gain confidence. I am , weirdly, very excited that she is #143. She will win matches again.

I think this is what she needed, to fall badly, maybe it would be easier and she will really begin from zero now :)

Nicole will play Prague where she plays MD, then she should play Q of Stanford, I think she should keep in Q :scared: but around last place in Q for Stanford.. then she's 4 out of LA MD and I doubt if she doesn't get in that she will be in Q.. maybe she will get a Q WC, no idea, IMG can do anything.. then Toronto, well the same with LA probably but it's true everyone is playing Cincinnati and LA so maybe Nicole could get in for Toronto Q.. who knows..

and how do u know Nicole won't have to play USO qualies?

Oh no : She shouldn't play Stanford, LA and Toronto.
She should AT LEAST play one ITF event. And win it.
What's the point in playing these tournaments? If she'll lose in the qualifications, it will be even harder for her. She HAS to play ITF tournaments.

We may think that it is hard courts, and that she is good at these. But now she can lose to anybody inside the top 100.

Maybe only the ranking falling can get her clear-headed.Hope Nicole has known the dangerous situation she is in.
I don't think playing qualifications can help her. She'll lose to the players we don't know very easily.
What a shame! That really is Nicole Vaidisova!

That's what I am afraid of. There are actually some of top 100 players play ITF, I can't bear her loss in such a low tournament...

Look, the hard season is coming again, she didn't play that bad this year;)As for US open, I don't know exactly the deadline of MD, but I think she has to play Q and that's not a bad thing.

Still a terrible rank considering it's Nicole and we know what her tennis game is capable of but the fact that she actually climbed due to her being active and winning again is already very good!!

It's good that she didn't remove herself from the rankings. I think there's still hope :)

Jaffas85
Mar 23rd, 2010, 06:19 AM
She should have just announced that she was taking a hiatus because between 18 - 24 months from now she could very well realise that tennis is the one thing she really excells at and is what made her rich and famous so after about 18-24 months off she could feel mentally refreshed, realise she's still young as she would still be only 22 or 23, and decide to come back.

Mar 23rd, 2010, 12:31 PM
But we still didn't get any official statement from Nicole... These are only guessing about her taking a break... Why she didn't said anything about this... :bigcry:

The WTA does not recognise Nicole's retirement, since it has not made any announcement, nor updated her status on its website. Perhaps she's giving herself a cooling-off period so that she could return immediately (rather than having to wait three months, as per the anti-doping regulations), or perhaps this whole nightmare is just one big lie, as we're actually three levels of indirection away from hearing it from Nicole herself (her agent, her stepfather, and the media).

Sexysova
Mar 24th, 2010, 03:54 PM
her retirement was confirmed by her agent, stepfather, herself too because she said she's just a tennis fan now..

andrewbroad
Mar 25th, 2010, 04:00 PM
Nicole reportedly said, "I'm just a tennis-fan," when she was watching Štěpįnek play at the Sunrise Challenger. All this proves is that she was sitting there, in her capacity as a tennis-fan, at that particular moment in time. Any active player could have said the same thing, truthfully, in that situation. It's a polite way of saying: "Don't bother me now – I'm off-duty. If you are indeed authorised to talk to me, then we can continue this conversation in a press-conference."

It doesn't mean that she couldn't be a player at other times – in the near future too, I hope!

You have to ask for your name to be taken off the rankings when you retire for it to removed immediately. That's how Henin was able to retire at #1. Otherwise your name disappears off the rankings when there are no tournaments to your name.

I am bound by my vows of Eternal Fanship to keep a record of Nicole's ranking until it lapses – which would happen on 14th February 2011 if she were to play no more tournaments before then, as she would then have played fewer than the minimum of three tournaments in 52 weeks that she needs in order to have a WTA ranking.

However, since the WTA does not recognise Nicole's retirement, I still hope that she will have played by then!

vaidisova1965
Apr 9th, 2010, 10:07 AM
I believe since that Nicole is still yet to annouce her retirement officially, the WTA still see her as an active player. I also believe that Nicole has only pulled out of her schedule for this year so she may return to the tour next January. I think she is the doing the best thing here and taking some time out to reflect and hopefully re-energize herself. Normally when stars retire, they officially annouce this ( like Henin, Novotna and Mandlikova ) did. I am sure she will back next year. ;):D. We all will have to wait and be patient :wavey:

Nicole's ranking this week is #404. This is actually an encouraging omen, because the HTTP error-code 404 means that:
the client was able to communicate with the server;
the server couldn't find the requested resource;
the requested resource may be available (again) in the future! :):)What she needs to avoid now is 410, which means that the requested resource was intentionally removed and will not be available again.

And Nicole finished 2010 ranked #666!

This is the second time that the number 666 has been significant for Nicole, for it was on 6/6/'06 that she beat Venus Williams at the French Open, and I inducted her into my Eternal Fanship.

I wish Nicole and all her fans a Happy New Year.
