Marion means business this year bitches. Disappointing it was put on court 19 because of the long mens matches, wouldve been nice to watch. :hearts: Very quick. 53-21 points.

With Aleks going out Marion looks good for 4th at least, maybe quarter or semi? Depends on how Vera gets on really.

Stats: 20-4 to 13-13.

Thigh strain whic could have been worse and probably WOULD had she played another set on it. Out of interest, you ARE on the Azarenka thread saying "she must have been VERY injured to pull out of Eastbourne". Right?

That aside, excellent stuff from Marion, talk about a statement of intent. Perfecto!

surely you must be used to these retiring worthy 'injuries' that keep her out for oh 3 or 4 days at the most.

marion basicaly stuck 2 fingers up to eastbourne last week.

Stop talking crap. On the eve of Wimbledon she strains a muscle in her thigh and doesn't want to risk damaging it further and missing the tournament, perfectly understandable. It'd be understandable even if Wimbledon weren't apporaching, what kind of idiot makes an injury worse rather than stopping???

Does anyone know if Yung-Jan cried her eyes out in this match, or is she not pathetic like that?

Lol, I know it's nothing but bitterness. But I'm assuming Sammy is also having a little tirade against Vika Azarenka and Li Na, both of whom pulled out of Eastbourne and are at Wimbledon this week? Oh, and Petrova too??? And I know that Roddick and Monfils are on his shit-list too for pulling out of Queens to try and be fit for Wimbledon?

yep all of them should be fined by the tours, they should treat the WTA tournaments with more respect, its pathetic. eastbourne just like wimbledon has to put bums on seats and get t.v viewers.

Well good, if that's your view then I expect to see it on all the Azarenka, Li and Petrova threads throughout Wimbledon:) Your attitude might be a tad different if you were actually the player concerned though.

i've made threads before about players abusing the tour by retiring for no good enough reason. its something i feel very strongly about.

go pull up a draw from the 90's and you will see very few retirements compared to todays draws, a lot of them nowadays are girls just not being big enough to take a defeat.

No doubt some of them are, doesn't really excuse your obsession with Marion. But really, if you're a player and you get an injury, you'd be stupid to make it worse if you know it needs rest. Your game is your career and your way of making a living, if you're injured you can't play so it makes sense. Every other sports does the same thing, it's just not as noticeable in i.e. a team game. Players aren't machines and have to look after their bodies.

Anyway, after a superb double-bagel I'm off to have some very sweet dreams. Have a good night and remember - all over Azarenka, Petrova and Li, you don't want to come across as a psycho with a big chip on his shoulder;)

Yung-Jan has developed an insatiable appetite for bagels this season. She's already eaten a few from Wozniacki, Cibulkova, and now Bartoli. Seeing as she has only won 2 matches this year, I'm not really going to put the crown on Bartoli for double bageling her.
