Sam Stosur, huge serve.
Ana I huge serve.
CSN all court, and tricky player already beat Vee this year.

Will post Serena's obvious roadblocks later. I think Venus can overcome the roadblocks. What do u think?:)

Jankovic, last player to beat her on grass?

Ana I huge serve

And yes, she will.

JJ the other roadblocker, to help prevent Vee from making final. i knew there was one left.

Yeah, I wonder why they didn't seed many players from out of the top50, so that they could place the highranked players more effectively in Vee's draw. Vee is more vulnerable in the early rounds most people say :speakles: :speakles: :speakles:

Venus could be vulnerable to KBond or Stosur. KBond can be solid and might make Venus nervous considering Venus starts off slow. She's also made the 3rd round of each slam this year as an unseeded player.

I can't see anyone else challenging Vee before the quarters.

Venus quarter isn't that hard unless she's playing bad but even so she will overcome. Serena's however really packed. Either Williams not making it to the final will be shocking though.

she might play some ugly tennis in the first week, but once she reaches the QF, there's no stopping her.

What roadblocks? Venus appears to have the easiest draw of all the top seeds. The next highest ranked players in her quarter are Jankovic and Ivanovic, and the way the two of them have been playing lately there's a good chance that one or both them will lose before they even reach Venus. And even if she does have to play them, I can't imagine either of them actually beating her on grass. I could see Stosur's potentially being a little bit of challenge, but that's about it.

In any case, I'm rooting for Dokic to make it through that section, but I wouldn't put a lot of money on that happening

Dear God. Apparently, not only do the Williams Sisters have to be on opposite sides of the draw, but now their fans will not be happy unless they play the six lowest ranked players in the draw all the way up until the final. :) It's a grand slam. There are going to be challenging matches.

Breaking news:

I hear the powers-that-be have tampered with the Hawkeye to screw Venus over, and they've also bribed all the line judges and umpires to ensure that Venus gets bad calls every match she plays. Doubtlessly Venus will get a few matches on Court 18; insiders say they're scheming to put her on the practice courts, but the logistics for that have not been worked out. A Tonya Harding-styled attack is also on the cards (tentatively scheduled on the middle Sunday) In the event that Venus gets through all this crap and holds up the Rosewater Dish at the end of the two weeks, they've taken the precaution to drug Venus's drinks for the entire fortnight (a few ballboys have been paid to spike her drinks during play), just so that they can force her to relinquish the trophy.

OMG!!!11111 Let's start a Free Venus campaign!!!!111

I never know if she is serious or not. Do you expect that there will be nobody in the draw?
If Venus is the queen of wimbledon, then there won't be any problem.
I am myself a fan of Venus and I don't really see who can stop her on grass. Mayve JJ can be tricky but I'm not sure she will have the possibility to play venus.

I just don't understand. You always say that the williams are the best, and yet, you are always complaining. Can you just make one "Dawn marie conspiracy theories" thread, and stop opening new ones?

I think it's really unfair that they're making Venus play opponents this year.
She's already proven she's the best on grass, why should she have to do it again? Totally ridiculous IMO.

anyway, Stosur's game may be rounding out nicely, but she has never taken more than five games off Venus and 2 of their three matches were on clay!

Venus won't lose to CSN again and certainly not on grass.

JJ's game matches up well to Venus, BUT that was a different JJ; besides most of JJ's wins against Venus are on clay, JJ's preferred surface.

Ana? on grass? I don't think so.

If Venus is troubled it will be in an early round against a player she has not met before, BUT on grass she adjusts better and more quickly than other surfaces or the other player named Williams.

and the truly sad thing, they did nothing to correct it. It was apalling!

Face it, if Venus cannot handle the "obstacles" all the way to the SF's, then she is certainly no champion this year! Her only top 10 player is JJ, who is in such such a downward spiral mentally and emotionally that she has to look up for three hours just to see her own ass.

A cake walk if ever there was one!

There is a player that has to face 5 of the top 10 to win this tournament, and each one of them is stronger than JJ is right now!

Well; it's true that this mistake was at a bad moment. But it's not like her opponenet won just because of that.

And mistakes like that don't happen just to Venus. I remember that during Laura robson vs Benesova there was also a mistake, and they also did nothing to correct that.

Uhm, if the seeds hold up, Venus has Ivanovic in the 4th rnd and Jankovic in the quarters. If the seeds hold up, that's a tough draw.

And if Venus doesn't win Wimbledon, her slam record this year will truly suck. :help:

What roadblocks? Venus appears to have the easiest draw of all the top seeds.

4r - AI slumping
QF - JJ slumping
SF - Safina - v pedestrain grass court record

Medium draw in 2007, tough draw in 2008, in 2009 .... please.

Given form, the toughest opponent til the final is Stosur.

Weak (even by your standards).Venus has a soft draw (especially comapred to some other contenders)and you know it.You're just trying to make it harder that what it is in reality (and I'm sure you're not even believing to your conspiracy theory this time).

Right and this is grass and this is WIMBLEDON. A whole 'nother ballgame. Roland Garros, I see your point; the All England Tennis Club, I don't think so.

It's nothing personal against the OP. The argument lacks validity because she didn't take into account that this is grass, this is Wimbledon and this is Venus. We all realize that Venus can be vulnerable. Just not in London.

She avoided the same half as Serena, Maria, Vika, and most dangerous early floaters. This is a nice looking, moderately challenging draw for Venus. I don't understand what would be a good draw. Just be happy with what you have, I'm sure Venus is.

Plus, I want to know what a 'reasonable' draw would be....

True, but one has to realize that many Williams fans are extremely paranoid when it comes to treatment of the Sisters. The Sisters, of course, are above reproach while other players and fans are their enemies and out to destroy them. This a totally idiotic thread and should never have been posted!

I do not think Venus will win Wimbledon this. Not for any objective reason, but simply because very few players have ever won it three times in a row. I hope I'm wrong, but history is what it is.

Her draw is three players who's accomplishements don't come close, two players WAY off-form, a player who has NEVER done anything on grass, and her sister.

You know what a rabid Venus I am, but LOOK at that. Venus can lose any of those matches, but if Venus plays 'okay', and the opponents play to 'form', it's a living lock every match til the final.
