View Full Version : Tanasugarn and Basuki - The Asians that did great at Wimbledon

After today's triumph over Safina, I thought I'd comment on Tammy. Suddenly I remembered Yayuk and her impressive record on grass.

Both of them achieved great things on the surface with several 4th rounds at Wimbledon and a QF each at SW19. This shows how good they could have been rankings-wise if the grass season was a bit longer (as most of fans would like it to be). Too bad it's not the case... :tape:

Yayuk's still rocking in doubles on the ITF Tour, with many titles in 2008 and 2009.

Impressive, ladies! :worship:  :hatoff:

Her flat groundies are perfect for grass :)

I don't remember how Basuki played but I'm sure her strokes would be similiar.

Basuki had a a very effective forehand for grass, it was her money shot, quite flat and powerful, i loved it!!

I believe she had a lot of touch with a slice backhand, and good feel at the net. So her game was different to Tammy's...she played with more variety and flair which was the case with many 90s players

Yayuk and Tammy always play well at wimbledon,
both from south east asia
ironically, there is no grass court in indonesia

Dont forget to mention that Angelique Widjaja from Indonesia was also Wimbledon Champion once (Junior)!

Asian players love grass court even there is no many grass court over in their own country!

There will be many top 10 players from Asia if they have longer grass court sessions.

No one's done better than Zheng Jie, no? :p

Yeah, I'm sure Tammy is hoping for a grass court year. Girl plays on grass like no one's business.
