For me its Hantuchova and Zheng  I wanted both to have a good run here :(
I suppose I should pick Zheng, because she lost their last match I think, still disappointed though.

Well I suppose we might at least get 2 good matches then - apparently Dokic played well at RG, if she keeps it up could be entertaining against Ivanovic. With my fav's on the other hand neither have had good form :help:

Me too and for the 2nd year running. My three favourite players are in order Niculescu, Shvedova and Rybarikova. Last year Yari lost in qualifying and Monica drew Magda. This year Monica drew Yari. That makes it two years in a row my two favourite in the tournament have played each other in the 1st round. The odds of that happening are more than 16,000 to one. FUCK. And this is the tournament that I look forward to every year and go to practically every day for the 1st week.

I honestly can't begin to describe how deflated and totally crushed this leaves me feeling. It just feels like all the emotional excitement and anticipation I have had for this tournament has just been stamped on and beaten into a flattened piece of roadkill. :awww:

Anger, rage, and fury.

None of my faves have ever played each other though, I don't think :)

Total Livid.

It sucks. It happened at the French Open with Dokic and Dementieva and although I was happy Elena made it through I said a pretty nasty comment in the results thread I wish I could erase.

Kim and Amélie, at the time they both played well...
I remember going out to buy some chocolate because I couldn't watch

Before the match I always think I'll be happy that at least one of the faves will go through. Never feel this way after the match.
These kind of situations are always not easy to deal with. (Today I had yet another experience of it watching Rosmalen doubles final.)

It is tough, for instance when Monica played Serena in the 1999 U.S. Open quarters as much as I loved Monica and Had NEVER rooted against her I found myself pulling strongly for my new love Serena. After that I only rooted against Monica when she played Venus or Serena, rooted against Venus when she played Serena, and the VERY few times I rooted against Serena was because of Venus[during her losing streak to Serena]NOW I Never pull against Serena,My All Time Favorite.

I only have one truly HUGE fave, Ana. :hearts::worship: Regardless of who is on the other side of the net, be they one of my faves or someone I hate, I consider each and every one of them to be the scum of the earth when they're playing Ana. :awww:

Lena vs. Nastya used to cause me all sorts of agony, not because I had a hard time deciding who to root for(Lena, do or die) but because the horrible, agonizing result was such a forgone, awful conclusion. At least when it mattered.

Normally I don't mind, unless it's early in the tournament. If Dokic vs. Williams happens in the fourth round, I'll quite enjoy watching the match and would be happy to see either win. It'd be a different story if it was a first round, though. Then, I'd be pissed!

Well this only happened once in a slam when Na played Lena in last year's US open 4r. Since it was a nightmatch and televised, I was just hoping for a good match. God I should have known better.

Exactly. Heck if they are drawn to meet in the 3rd round I'm cool with that. But the 1st round I hate. There is a lot of ranking points up for grabs in the 1st round and I hate it that they both won't have an opportunity to get them. :(

I think Anne and Anna have a good chance of winning a few rounds each at Wimbledon - haven't looked closely at the draw, but you never know :bounce: but I think Anna has been the worst this year for loosing R1 :help:

This week proved I don't have favourites, I have Dani then everyone else. I watched 3 or 4 of Laura Robson's matches winning the girls last year and I adore her game and will be cheering her on for years to come ... but I felt literally sick when she was a set and a break up against Danka. Vakulenko/Malek in the 1R of qualifying was just, I wasn't angry, just deflated because I knew it was a nightmare matchup for Julia and there was only going to be one winner.

Depends on the round, their H2H, who won the last match or two, and how overall important it is.

I was not terribly upset when Elena lost to Amelie at Paris. I wanted to smash shit when she lost to her in Madrid after another meltdown, and I don't know how fondly I'd view Amelie for awhile if she beat her in another three-setter anytime soon. After two emotional losses to Zvonareva last year my feelings for her lessened, for sure. (Plus she wasn't nice to me in Charleston anyway.)

Hmmmm. Like I said, it depends. Venus/Elena never bothers me because I know Venus is going to win, but I always feel Elena has chances if she could be a bit more aggressive or use her defense a bit better. I was pretty upset after the YEC match though. A little deflated after Warsaw '07 and WIM '08. Didn't care about Dubai, though I had expected Elena to win that match.

If Julia was playing well she'd destroy Tadde, but with all those slices if she was having an off day it was always going to end quick .
