I wanted Pete to win this one. Great for him an a real boost to his confidence. I hope he retires now though. He has proved to people that he is a true champion. Jon Wertheim must feel really silly now for sayin Pete is washed up and can't win anything.

Mr. Roboto (err Pete) said he's not retiring if he wins the US Open. He still wants to win Wimby again.

Sad for Agassi. He didn't seem to have his legs in the first two sets.

Calling Ms. Tennischick....are you out there? Hey TC...post your thoughts!!! LOL. Good for Pete though. I think he can win Wimby again...Pete you the man. Go Aggy!!! Go James!!!

Ugh. I'm SO annoyed. Not really at Pete, but the failure of New Ballz to deliver.
This means Pete will tear through the draws for the next year.
My worst nightmare:
Aussie Open 02: Pete vs. Johannsen. Pete wins 6/1 6/4 6/3
French Open 02 (okay, Pete will never win this, so I will not even post a scenario, LOL).
Wimby: Pete vs. Agassi. Agassi looking for revenge. Pete wins 6/4 6/3 7/5 6/4
US Open 03 Pete vs. Hewitt. Hewitt playing with sore leg running down shots in rematch of semifinal with Agassi. Pete wins 7/5 6/3 6/3.
All New Ballz besides Hewitt fail to get by in 2nd round of any majors, but win 6 out of 9 Masters Series, renaming themselves the AntiClimax Ballz.
Anyway, this should be posted on atpworld.com. Sorry.

i am very proud of pete.

From the link I saw on the CNNSI site, I am pretty sure Jon has already written his "kiss up and hope everyone forgets what I said" column. Besides, if he has to eat any more words he will choke, as he is still chewing on his initial comments about Chanda.

In all fairness, i think about 99% of the tennis media, and at least half of the fans should be eating their words right about now.
Including me, who once said "alright, I think losing to Correjta on grass about nailed the coffin shut" ;)

Pete again and again shows that he is the greatet ever, win against all odds and pressure

Long live Pistol Pete, I am so proud to be your fans :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Not only does he need to eat his eulogy of Pete, but his repeated claims that once a guy gets married, his career is toast.
Sep 9th, 2002, 04:32 PM
Well, I dunno about that griff. I mean look at Andre, he got married and ended up losing the Final instead of winning it.

If Wertheim had to eat his words every time he was wrong, he'd weigh 400 pounds. As for Pete's win, that's indicative of underestimating Pete and overestimating his competition. Pete played about 2 levels below his Wimbledon 2000 form. Yet he was still able to win a slam.

Pete winning this Slam was the besat thing that could have happened
Sep 10th, 2002, 12:41 AM
Congrats to Pete! I'm pretty happy that he won this. Everyone was saying Agassi would kick his ass but I had confidence that he would pull through. Lets see him make a run in Australia. If you lose early, call it a day. No one's going near that 14 Slam record for anytime in the near future
