So many girls seem to be struggling with form right now. Let's make a list!

1) Ana Ivanovic
2) Jelena Jankovic
3) Agnieszka Radwanska
4) Nicole Vaidisova
5) Maria Kirilenko
6) Anna Chakvetadze
7) Daniela Hantuchova
8) Amelie Mauresmo
9) Alize Cornet
10) Nadia Petrova
11) Elena Dementieva
12) Jie Zheng
13) Flavia Pennetta

Seriously, WTF is in the water right now???

All of these girls (maybe minus MashaK) are grand slam contenders at their best.

What a waste of talent.

Is this normal or is right now as bad as it seems in comparison?

Maybe just a sign of the times. I hope they all get better soon, if all the players played better the standard of the WTA would be so high.

lol They're not ALL grand slams contenders at their best, and you can't link someone like Kirilenko who can barely win a match these days, with JJ or Amelie who won a title this year and are in top10/15 in the race ranking.

Cornet was never a Slam contender. Anyway, Dementieva is slumping.

Jankovic, Dementieva

The rest are always inconsistent.

Cornet did have match points on Safina to make the quarters this year at AO.

Dinara went on to lose in the final. She's dangerous at her best.

And most of the rest of the girls have made semifinals before.

Alize Cornet is definitely not a slam contender as yet.

I don't know whether I would include her in the list but Jie Zheng has slumped since Miami. Her win/loss record is 7-7 since then and the highest ranked player that she has beaten in this period is CSN who she beat this week who is ranked 34 on grass which is not CSN's best surface.

Also, I'd add Pennetta to the list. She's in questionable form right now.

Oh yes Pennetta definitely. She got breadsticked twice at RG in the first round, imagine that. Her best surface. :help: I think Jie's slump started in Rome when she was *5-2 up in the third against Dinara and lost.

Zheng is not slumping :o she just had one amazing run and hasn't been able to live up to her inflated ranking. Patty Schnyder should be on the list.

Regardless of how Patty's year may have been, she only has one mode of play at Wimbledon: sucking. :rolls:

Dinara went on to lose in the final. She's dangerous at her best.

And most of the rest of the girls have made semifinals before.

She only had match points because Safina sucked so badly. Safina's play up to that final was absolutely atrocious; about 10 other players played at a higher level than her in the tournament but most of the other girls choked really badly. And Slam 4th round =/= slam contender.

Kaia Kanepi is slumping too. She hasn't won a match since Rome and pulled out of Birmingham, probably injured.

Alize will win RG one days, fools.

ACHAK just beat Jankovic and lost to Bartoli.
That's her good form.
Ivanovic was a down a break in the 3rd to Petrova at Wimbledon when Ana was in her top form.
She's not far off her form. Azarenka and Petrova can beat her.

The same was said of JJ, who is 30 times more talented than Cornet is.

You can bump this thread if and when she does win RG. For now, she's a one-season clay court extremist wonder. :p

Jankovic needed 4 full seasons of playing to get to the top. Alizé was no.11 after her first full season. Don´t compare them please. She has all the time in the world to get to where jankovic was.

I was talking about talent. Jankovic is more physically gifted than Cornet in being much faster (without Pat Etcheberry, thank you) and also has a better court sense.

Venus is having an excellent year by her standards, and she could win Wimbledon.

Petrova and Radwandska dont belong on the list.

Vaidisova28, i enjoy watching her but can Vaidisova be considered slumping anymore? The last great match i saw was vs Mauresmo at Wimby in 07.

She had a fairly solid 2008. She made the quarters at Wimbly and had 3 match points against Ivanovic to make the semis. She was out with mono for part of that year and still finished around 12th. She didn't start slumping until around Indian Wells 2008.

Actually, in some ways the consistency of Dementieva over the last year-and-a-half is the anomaly. She's always been vulnerable to upset, brainfarts and, of course, dfs, in the past.

I won't be surprised is she's gone in Rnd 1. Or still playing in Week 2. The phrase "on current form" has no meaning applied to Lena.
