View Full Version : What bands are you honestly a fan of?

Golovinjured.
Jun 15th, 2009, 12:04 PM
I was thinking today about how I (and almost all of my friends) used to have 50+ bands in my myspace music column and thinking :spit: what a tool I was! LOL.

Then I thought about what bands/artists I thoroughly enjoyed and could listen to for days and days and days. I got these:

Dappled Cities
Red Riders
Liam Finn
The Shins
Josh Pyke
Muse
Cut Copy

That's it. Genuinely, these are the bands I could listen to forever. So, what are yours?

IFKR. Anthony is so much better in Hercules and Love Affair, when his whiny voice is heard as little as possible. :hearts:

And yes, Sufjan Stevens is incredibly overrated as well.

WTF :weirdo:
Antony has the greatest voice since Nina Simone! How could I get sick of it? So powerful.
And Sufjan is my biggest crush, probably. Too bad he's Christian, and not gay (he seems pretty gay). Also, he is a genius.

Sufjan has a handful of good songs, but teeters on the edge of tedious dullness most of the time.

Lots of Killers fan here, I see.

I'll be seeing them live in three weeks, along with Coldplay. I can't wait.

Anyway, the following I follow closely:

Crowded House (after a long hiatus, I got really into them after seeing them live. They're absolutely great live)
Coldplay (ironically, I didn't really get into them until Viva La Vida. The free live CD is amazing! Love Fix You especially)
Fleetwood Mac

Others I love:
Tori Amos
Fiona Apple
Regina Spektor
Liam Finn (via CH, but he's pretty brilliant on his own)

as for older bands:
The Beatles
ABBA

Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons
The Beatles
The Shadows
Lighthouse Family
Bee Gees

The Corrs

all others I listen for occasionally, but these are main.

btw, cause you said bands, so I can't put just one singer here

Stream of Passion (I have everything )
Amorphis (I don't have only two oldest albums which weren't that great :p)
Korpiklaani (I don't have only singles :p)
Dreamquest (I have that one album they made)
Dis Pater (unfortunately I have only downloaded album - from the official website if you want to ask ;))
Ensiferum (I have only two albums of 4 but it's impossible to find it :()
TYR (without first album)
Charon (without first album)

I also love Nightwish, Northern Kings (without one album), Catamenia (without 2 newest)

I’m a bit of Swedish whore so ABBA, Cardigans and Roxette for sure.
Then Muse, Amaral, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pereza, Within Temptation, Cranberries, Suede, Catatonia. Air (Venus, their song, is soooo great!), Daft Punk, Manic Street Preachers and Ellos
Lately I’m hooked to A Camp (new Nina Person ex-Cardigans leading voice project), Love of Lesbian and I love both Dead man’s bones (Ryan Gosling :hearts: )
My Musical Olympus is ruled by a sacred triad made from Aimmee Mann, Mylène Farmer and Bjork, but these are not groups so :p

The guys in my sig are really the only band I care about atm, I could listen to just them forever and never get bored. :inlove: And the funny thing is I did actually used to have them in my myspace music column as a band I was a "fan" of. (and looking back I'm quite horrified I had them in there at that time :o).

LOL
I thought I was the only one on earth who knew them:tape:
"young folks":hearts:

People I genuinely love...

Beach Boys and My Bloody Valentine. I like tons of more bands and artists, but ones I always have an affinity for and enjoy at any time, the ones that mean most to me, definitely those two.

So many people on this board listen to indie stuff :).

Great, haha.

Lol I was going to say the same thing. I like indie music but it's exhausting to find it. I'm too lazy to go to YouTube to look things up, so I wait until someone tells me to listen to something. I generally like older classic music best like the Beatles, the Stones or Elton John but I like a lot of current pop/rock music like Kings of Leon, Eric Hutchinson, James Morrison, Kris Allen. I like John Legend a lot, I like some hip hop if it's fun to dance to, and some alternative rock like Arcade Fire and Airborne Toxic Event.
Oasis, Coldplay, Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, and the Killers are probably my favorites though.

Any idea if ND is putting out a new album soon? I'd heard they were releasing one in 2010, but...no info anywhere.

It has been a long time since I have been chatting on the ND boards, but cd would be for end 2010, begin 2011 and then a Tour through America would follow so they can hit Europe in the summer.

I like your style:rocker2:

The thing I love most about them is that they don't fade, the albums they've released in the last ten years are as good, and sometimes better, than their earlier stuff. I'm really looking forward to the new album coming out later this year - and seeing them in Dublin in July:hearts:

I was thinking today about how I (and almost all of my friends) used to have 50+ bands in my myspace music column and thinking :spit: what a tool I was! LOL.

Then I thought about what bands/artists I thoroughly enjoyed and could listen to for days and days and days. I got these:

Dappled Cities
Red Riders
Liam Finn
The Shins
Josh Pyke
Muse
Cut Copy

That's it. Genuinely, these are the bands I could listen to forever. So, what are yours?
