The only withdrawals thus far have been Erakovic and Granville. I will update the list asap when I hear of any more.

The typo in the list has been fixed.

OMG yeah I forgot Zheng needed a WC last year. She has a lot of points to defend here.

She has had quite an impressive year :worship:. Some people thought she would be a 1 tourney wonder, but she has really held her own over the past year :D:bounce:

actually I prefer the 17th seed over the 16th seed, amelie has a chance to avoid venus and serena till the QF
maybe her thrid round might be harder, but she can beat everybody ranked 9 till 16th on grass right now

Yeah but just wait if she can't make the SF again, which she probably won't, her ranking will noticeably plummet

Personally I don't think Mauresmo can beat a healthy Wozniacki on grass.

They stopped giving advanced seeds a couple years ago.

They stopped giving advanced seeds a couple years ago.

Except "where in the opinion of the Committee, the grass court credentials of a particular player necessitates a change in the interest of achieving a balanced draw" (from the Wimbledon website).

This is why I think Venus and Safina should trade places. It won't affect the draw at all except for ruling out an all williams semi final. I think its more the principle of the matter - Safina, who has done nothing at Wimbledon, should not be seeded higher than a 5 time champion. Unfortunately I don't see this happening.

Even if she loses first round, she'll most likely stay Top 25, which is still very good. If she lives up to her seeding and loses in the fourth round, she'll be around #22.

Contrary to recent practice, they did give Maria Sharapova an "advanced" seed (http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/news/articles/2009-06-17/200906171245239075031.html); she is seeded 24th, which bumps everyone after that down 1 and Alona Bondarenko out of the seeds (if there are no withdrawals. I will correct the list on the 1st page.

um.....I thought it was an ITF rule but maybe it was jyust an ATP rule that a Grand Slam could seed however they saw fit as long as the 32 seeds came from the top 32 players.....so ah m, How'd old Sharapova slip though? Spesh rule for her?

Also, love the 'former champ' so we will bump her up....ah tiger, how about Amelie- didn't movee her up from Seed 17?

You old contradictory f'ckers
