I was wondering how much they pay you for donating sperm? Is it possible to make a living out of it? I think I heard that it usually averages at 40-50 $ per donation, so if you donate 3 times a day 6 days a week it is 40*3*6 =$720/week = $2880 a month... not bad at all for 10-15 minutes of "work" a day! Am I right here? This sounds too good to be true, is there a catch?

Have you considered the practical consequences of sperm donation - e.g. how would you feel if your biological kids turned up in 20 years time looking for their dad? There may be an option for donor anonymity, but contemporary DNA tracking ensures that assiduity and obduracy will not go unrewarded.

There are laws to protect you from something like that happening. From what I understand the donor's identity is protected.

that doesnt mean they cant find you. plus if it turns out there is something "wrong" with your sperm they will come banging down your door

But what if you donate to several different banks. There is no way for them to know that said person is also donating at a different bank

I still think adoption is the right way but some couples find joy just because of this way
maybe he wanna do it just with the purpose to gain money but well I'd not be hilarious about life or supposed to get one when u speaking exactly about sperm donation

i doubt very much that the OP is being serious here, if he is then

if it was a valid way to make a living then i'm sure the sperm banks would be inundated with offers from lazy arsed guys who can't be bothered to get a real job. also, i doubt they would want the calibre of sperm from someone who thinks jacking off into a cup is a great career move.....

You can't only donate a few time and let's say you do it three times, one donation will go in Quebec, another one in British Columbia and the last one will go in PEI. Everything is calculated to ensure that your kids never meet each others.

no woman would choose your sperm if you didnt have a real job.

and its REALLY hard. you have to go through tons of medical history and psychological background. you even have to be a certain height to donate. im too short :sobbing:

Im sorry Lin Lin but I don't understand

that the guy here needs a real job I think we all agree, but society needs also sperm donators, we cannot be judges of other couple, as long as they keep respecting us, they pretend respect for their choices as well

yeah,I have no problem with sperm donation as long as it is conducted legally/normally/scientifically:wavey:,but the poster says "so if you donate 3 times a day 6 days a week it is 40*3*6 =$720/week = $2880 a month... not bad at all for 10-15 minutes of "work" a day!",this is scary and disturbing:wavey:

A sperm bank usually isn't allowed to let your sperm impregnate more than one woman; otherwise, your kids could end up meeting and getting married. Incest! :o

Ok, First of all you don't donate 3 x a day. The sperm has to be of a certain quality, have a high motility rate, and you have a certain count to be a suitable donor. It takes approximately 2-3 days for sperm to fully mature to become useful in fertilization. So you are looking at about twice to three times a week. Also with sperm you have to avoid alcohol, smoking, drugs, and certain foods to have healthy sperm that can be used. Often times, sperm can me mutated and devlop two heads or two tails.

Once you donate (oh yeah you do have to be able to fill the small cup up to a line with your seminal fluid), the sperm is examined and rated for motility, quality (normal looking), and number of sperm produced. The sperm is then then placed in a centrfuge to be separated from the semen, it is washed and then frozen.

The 2 on the left are normal.

Do you really want to do this as a job? It would kinda get boring after awhile don't you think? And then what do you tell people, "Hey I'm a professional sperm donor" . I mean do you really think that's gonna fly when you are out on a date or when you explain to your parents when they ask you about work?

u can donate it to me anytime...

donate:
–verb (used with object) 1. to present as a gift, grant, or contribution; make a donation of, as to a fund or cause: to donate used clothes to the Salvation Army.

–verb (used without object) 2. to make a gift, grant, or contribution of something; give; contribute: They donate to the Red Cross every year.
