I dunno if that's actually good news. Maria might actually be able to win a match in qualifying.

She'd prob lose in Qs on grass anyways. A loss in the MD is better than a loss in Qs   good luck Maria... you'll need it.

It seems bad, but...............

She has nothing to lose. No-one is expecting her to win. It's too late to worry about Wimbledon seedings. 2 years ago at the bottom of a slump she almost beat an in-form jankovic on grass :)

Well, that depends on Maria's confidence in herself. I'm just saying she should play without pressure. It's not the end of the world if she loses to Dementieva.

Oh kiri. While no one is expecting her to win and she has nothing to lose.. even playing some of her best tennis San Diego 2007 she couldn't beat Dementieva what hope does she really have now slumping badly slightly injured? and on her worst surface. Oh how I wish this nightmare would end

First game was 13 minutes.
Dementieva deserved to win, but every close call was in her favor. Same with the netcords.
Maria missed an easy return at 2-1 40-30.
At 2-2 30-15 Dementieva hit a ball out but it was given in.40-15 or 30-30 is a real difference.

Couldn't they query the call?

Ivanovic Fan how did Maria play? Is she playing with low confidence? Was she a UE machine? Did she struggle on serve? Was she being overpowered? Did the knee injury affect her movement? Did Dementieva just play too good? What does she need to change about her game? :p

Yes, at 5-2 first set.
Maria's serve isn't good enough and can't move players around.
She didn't play that bad, but there's nothing she can rely on.
If she was luckier then she could stay with Elena and who knows what happens.
But Maria's balls were out, Elena's on the line, some bad bounces and of course the netcords.

kirivanovic
Jun 16th, 2009, 10:45 PM
Thank you:)

Maria's serve is not powerful enough and that's why she's so bad on grass as her 2nd shot is always to defend after her serve and not to attack...A coach could help her to find more angles or to hit harder with another technique but Maria prefers being trained by her father...and by those guys from this spanish academy...

Court 4 (from 13.00hrs)
1. Craybas/Kudryavtseva vs. Husarova/Kirilenko
2. Black/Huber vs. Ivanovic/Lisicki

I don't understand her at all. Adidas has even a program with 4 coaches.
Just hitting with Andreev won't help her. She had van Harpen and won 3 titles. He tried everything but she just doesn't listen.

Tomorrow both my girls play again. Please let it not be like Monday.

kirivanovic
Jun 17th, 2009, 02:03 AM
Maybe she's too selfish to train with the Adidas team and as Igor isn't an adidas player, she couldn't train with him as she would like i guess.

Igor also lost yesterday:rolleyes:

Yeah, Van Harpen tried his best, he was a good coach but Maria wanted to do whatever she wants, maybe he asked her too much, i don't know but i don't see anything good in the future if she doesn't change anything...

About doubles, Masha should win but for Ana it will be tough:sad:

Black/Huber are not unbeatable. If Ana's serve works as in the last practise and Lisicki's serve is working well too, they might have a chance.
