What is Venus saying??? Is she just dejected or giving hints:confused:

From tonight's post-match interview:

Q.Is the level of your game the same as compared to the same time last year, or has Serena's game just improved so much compared to the same time last year?
VENUS WILLIAMS: I think my level's about the same. I think mentally I'm not there as much. I think Serena's level is definitely more up than last year. I think what I could do is just -- I have to go home and just go home.

Q. Do you know why you're not -- you say mentally you're not there as much. Do you know why you're not there as much?
VENUS WILLIAMS: Just tired. Basically.

Q. Too many matches?
VENUS WILLIAMS: I don't know what it is. I just think I need to have a break, basically. I think I've done well as far as getting to the finals. Of course that's not an easy feat at all. But then Serena played always better than me.

Q. Are you considering taking a break, six, eight months? Something like that?
VENUS WILLIAMS: No. Just two or three tournaments this fall and then just trying to enjoy a normal life. I've had a great year, more than any other person, besides Serena, could ask for I guess. That's been great. But I would like to just go home and practice and relax. I think it's gonna be a lot better because I'm not going to school this fall. I won't have that pressure on me either.

Q. Being a bit tired, are you enjoying your tennis as much as you were?
VENUS WILLIAMS: Not at this tournament, not as much as the rest. Not as much. You know, I just had to tune out everything, people just wear you to death, and talk so much. This and that. I just wanted to get away from the hype, you know.

Q. Is it the hype surrounding you or the hype surrounding Serena?
VENUS WILLIAMS: Just the hype surrounding everything.

Q. Do you feel like now, though, that there's a shift, that for all the attention you had for so long, now it's been shifted on to Serena? Is it just as much on you?
VENUS WILLIAMS: I think Serena likes the attention.

Q. More than you?
VENUS WILLIAMS: I didn't like it so much. But I think she's more of a outgoing person maybe than what I am. I think everyone has their year, and this is her year, and next year could be her year also - I don't know. But I'm glad she's done well.

Please tell me why you think Venus may quit?

are you considering taking a break? 6 or 8 months? venus then stated "NO".

Can you comprehend. Venus has had a long year, she only wants to enjoy her time off.

I also feel sorry for her. I don't think she will retire. I see her taking a long fall break. (maybe similar to what she did before she won her first grandslam) She probably will think and ponder about her game.

I think although, she did not show her emotions must be very dejected. I would hate to be the older sibling and constantly getting beat by your younger sister.

I hope she does not retire. It would be dissapointing. I think Serena and Venus need each other for them to succeed.

I think she's mentally tired of the BS that the "Williams are bad for tennis" "they win too much" "they're boring" etc. She just needs to chill out at home and get some rest. Also, she needs to work on her second serve. She'll be alright. Remember what the cynics were saying about Serena last year?

She's not coming Brazil for sure. We expected that since US Open's beginning. She would get tired and don't play the tournament :)

Go Vee! Of course not. She mentally very tired, and she needs some time to fix things up. She will comeback with all power :)

I think you are overreacting CHOCO. Yeah there is a lot of negativity surrounding the sisters but if they were not liked, do you honestly think that Arthur Ashe stadium would be filled to the capacity it was today.

The world wants the sisters playing tennis. Venus is just tired of losing to her sister. She won't admit but I can bet you house she is thinking it.

Jakeev, I disagree. Alot of people can dislike the sisters, but still sit there and watch them play. You don't care for Sylvia Plath the women, but you still would read her books?

I heard it from a reliable source. There are whispers that this is Venus last year.

Actually the stadium was sold out before the finals were determined. People are hoping for a good WTA match, many (if not majority) hoping for Williams-Williams. However, it would still be sold out if it had been Lindsay-Amelie.
