Head to Head R32
Hantuchova vs Chan
Hantuchova leads 1-0
S1 Fed Cup 1R Hantuchova 6-3 6-2
Daniela Hantuchova def. Anna Gerasimou
7-5 7-5 :o
Good win for Daniela Hantuchova, who follows with good results, after the SF of Indian Wells. Despite slow start, Daniela has easy to turn the two sets, had the inexperience and mistakes fools of Gerasimou, which failed to close a set.
Dinara Safina def. [3] Maria Kirilenko
:eek::tape: 6-4 6-4 :worship::devil:
HIGH Upset! After 10 victories in row, Kirilenko finally loses a match. Tired with the various matchs and no adjustment to the clay, Kirilenko not playing well today and lost to excellent Safina, which eliminates Dulko and Kirilenko in the same tournament and is very confident to win the event.
[8] Aleksandra Wozniak def. Karolina Sprem
4-6 7-5 7-5 :worship:
Great match and win for Aleksandra Wozniak. The canadian player returns to play well in a Premier event and reaches another SF. The match was exciting. Wozniak was 5-0 in the second set, but Kline has recovered, but lost to 7-5 . In the last set, Kline fought to save 3MP, but again gave a break of service and lost the match.
[7] Dominika Cibulkova def. [2] Maria Sharapova
:worship: 6-4 6-3
Easy win for Dominika Cibulkova! Very confident and with great strokes, Domi no gave chances to their best friend and won with authority, showing that can make work for your enemy in clay court. Sharapova is without great results after AO Champion, and following in 2nd place in the ranking.

String of Upsets Produce Surprise Semifinalists

Dinara fistpumps after upsetting back-to-back Indian Wells and Miami champion Kirilenko today.
Today's quarterfinal action at the Family Circle Cup saw the upset of two Marias: the number 2 seed Maria Sharapova by her best friend and 7th seed Dominika Cibulkova, and number 3 seed Maria Kirilenko by Dinara Safina. Aleksandra Wozniak, the number 8 seed continues her good form, reaching her second consecutive semifinal. She is joined by Daniela Hantuchova, who continues her run after upsetting world number 1 Cornet yesterday.
Daniela Hantuchova took on Anna Gerasimou in the first of four quarterfinal matches. Hantuchova started slow and was broken twice by Gerasimou, facing a 5-0 deficit. However, Gerasimou was very apprehensive and her unwillingness to exploit Hantuchova's weaknesses led Hantuchova to reel off the next seven games to secure the first set. Gerasimou bounced back second set, again racing to a 5-0 lead, but history repeated itself, as Hantuchova again played aggresively and sealed her spot in the semifinals with a 7-5, 7-5 victory.
Back to back Indian Wells and Miami champion Maria Kirilenko has been on a hot streak and was the heavy favourite in her match against the unseeded Dinara Safina. However, clay has always been Safina's favourite surface and she played aggressively from the baseline today and moved Kirilenko left and right. Perhaps tired from playing many matches the past few weeks, Kirilenko's movement could not keep up, and she surrendered the first set 6-4. In the second set, the number 3 seed took a 3-1 lead that she could not maintain. Safina rallied back and produced her second upset of the week 6-4, 6-4. She had defeated number 5 seed Gisela Dulko in a close three-setter in the first round.
In other quarterfinal action at Charleston, the number eight seed Aleksandra Wozniak held her ground and defeated Karolina Sprem 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Sprem leveled the match at 5-5 in both the second and third sets only to be broken again by Wozniak, and this ultimately led to her loss. Wozniak is in fine form as this is her second consecutive semifinal appearance.
The highly anticipated match-up between best friends seventh seed Dominika Cibulkova and second seed Maria Sharapova did not disappoint. At 5-4 first set, Cibulkova hit a spectacular forehand on set point that was ruled out by the linesman but was later corrected by the umpire. After securing the first set, Cibulkova broke Sharapova in the 4th game of the second set, and held this break to produce a 6-4, 6-3 victory. Maria was very gracious in her loss and praised Dominika for her solid play.
Semifinals at Charleston will take place Friday with Hantuchova taking on Safina and Wozniak taking on Cibulkova. Will the Slovaks rule the Green Clay? We'll have to wait and see.
In the third try Klina again couldn't reach first semifinal of the NTT Tour. This time she was closer than ever but she was stopped by 8th seed Aleksandra Wozniak in two hours and 14 minutes. First set Klina was apsolutey in the contorol and won it 6-4. But in the second and third Klina foguht back to 5-5 after early lose of service but unfortunately her service again was broken both times at 5-5 and Wozniak finally wins 4-6 7-5 7-5.
"Well, it was really tough match today, congrats to Aleks. I did my best but it wasn't enough. She just played better in the important moments and that was crucial. I was in slump last few weeks but I finally feels my form is rising and I hope I can play more better in the next tournaments."
Dinara Safina def. Daniela Hantuchova
6-4 6-1 :worship:
Phenomenal victory for Dinara Safina, who reached her first final in his second tournament! Determined and confident, Dinaraa hit the good Hantuchova, who again lost in the semifinal. Dinara satisfied with his game and confident for his first title in clay, her favorite surface.
[8] Aleksandra Wozniak def. [7] Dominika Cibulkova
7-6(5) 6-1
Incredible victory for Aleksandra Wozniak! For the second week then, Wozniak defeated Cibulkova and gets to her third final, seeking the first title. In a balanced first set, both players lost SP and the match went to the tie-break. Wozniak was better and won. Cibulkova shook with the defeat and not played well in the second set, facilitating the victory of Wozniak.
Dinara Safina def. [8] Aleksandra Wozniak
6-4* 6-7(6) 6-4 :worship:
CT affect the result
Congrats for first title of Dinara Safina! The Russian begin very well the season in clay and is very confident for the next tournaments. In a balanced match, Safina and Wozniak made fantastic bids and deserved the victory.
Dinara starts better, without feeling the pressure of her first final. Aleksandra, not upset with the defeat in the first set, opened 4-0 in the second set. But the russian showed claw and saved 5SP! Safina seemed that would close the match but Aleksandra showed incredible recovery and took the game to the last set. Tired, both players were limited. But Safina, with all their claw, won the set and the tournament. Aleksandra reaches 0-3 in finals, and despite major campaigns, collect large failures now.
