I have always LOVED these lists!

TOP 10

1. Angelina Jolie
2. Oprah Winfrey
3. Madonna
4. Beyoncé Knowles
5. Tiger Woods
6. Bruce Springsteen
7. Steven Spielberg
8. Jennifer Aniston
9. Brad Pitt
10. Kobe Bryant

Youngest person in the top 5 :worship: I find it intresting that Angie is #1 but she doesn't earn even half of what Bee earns. Bee is on the cover and is the feature story  Ah well, Angie is THE movie star of this decade.

Britney is #13 :yeah:
The feature story - http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2009/0622/celebrity-09-jay-z-sasha-fierce-inside-beyonce-empire.html
Such diligence invites comparison with another 27-year-old at the top of the charts. Britney Spears is a study in contrast. After peaking early she has demonstrated a spectacular capacity for melting down. (Spears, number 13 on our list, is back on tour--and reportedly on medication.) "I've worked too hard and sacrificed too much to do something silly that would mess up the brand I've created all of these years," says Beyoncé. To say nothing of the jobs of the roughly 400 people who work for her or her enterprises.

TENNIS
#27 Federer
#67 Serena Williams
#76 Maria Sharapova
#77 Venus Williams
#90 Ana Ivanovic

I guess Beyonce is the cover and the main interview because the top three are always so guarded when it comes to press. She was probably the first one to agree to it.

Can't believe a GOLFER is the highest paid athlete in the world :sobbing:

Unfortunately these lists are always the opinions of just a few people, based on little fact and research.

"New York Times": Shakira's fans await her arrival at the school.
Fact of the matter is that Shakira (yes, she's still alive) never makes these lists, and it shows how fallacious these lists always are. Because she's such a humble person, people forget about her amazing efforts.

In last 12 months: SHAKIRA

On her 32nd birthday this year, with her own charity and proceeds, she opened up a $6 million dollar school in her Colombian hometown just a few months ago. It has already been visited by the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton. The school provides world class facilities for 1,800 students.

Shakira served as the Honorary Chairperson for Action Week 2008 (April 21-27). She spoke with the U.S. Congress, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown (as well as having an interview with him), and World Bank President Robert Zoellick to promote a move towards Global Education. Angelina Jolie (yes, the #1 most powerful celebrity apparently) served as last year's chair.

People En Español announced in their December 2008/January 2009 issue that Shakira is the "Humanitarian of the Year" as part of their "Las Estrellas del Año" (Stars of the Year) awards.

Shakira performed twice at Barack Obama's Inaugration (being the only non-American to do so, I think?)

She has given tens of speeches emphasising the importance of education at events such as the Ibero-American summit (most Latin American presidents including prime minister and king of Spain, the prime minister of Portugal and others)

A few months ago, she formally received a medal for national service from her president, how many of these celebrities can say that?

And she doesn't even make the list? I think it's safe to say that Shakira is a hell of a lot more powerful than 90% of the people listed here

Sorry, I just had to tell it how it is.

Maybe, but i doubt it because for the first few years of her career she specifically asked to be removed from these lists.

I think you missed the point of my post. That's only what she's just done in the last year. e.g she should have featured in this edition.

Forbes has no credibility for me in anything. Nobody I know is influenced at all by Angelina Jolie. I don't know why these lists annoy me, but they just do. They should do much more research before making claims that people then think are true.
