Guys, it's finally time to have a serious thread.
The goat is nice enough to grant us memorable interviews and lately she's been on fire. So here you can post la crème de la crème live from JJ's brain and hopefully little by little we'll make a memoir and send it to her.

Recent ones, I'll put older ones later.

JELENA JANKOVIC: There are so many great players, and, to be honest, I'm watching only men's tennis on TV. I don't really watch too much women's.

That's why many times when I play against them, you know, many times I don't know my opponent. Like today, I didn't know who I was playing, and I didn't know that was Gajdosova and her name was Groth, you know?

Q. You're going to go in to face an Australian player, Jarmila Groth. You've played her three times before.

JELENA JANKOVIC: Who?

Q. Jarmila Groth?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Who is that?

Q. An Australian.

JELENA JANKOVIC: Is that Gajdosova?

Q. Could you mention three players that you like in the draw for this tournament?
JELENA JANKOVIC: In the men's?
Quote:
Q. Which is your favorite player in the man draw?
JELENA JANKOVIC: Of woman?

Q. In your words, what happened out there? Was she just playing too well?
JELENA JANKOVIC: What was the question?

"Yeah, I was in pain. I took so many painkillers. I was telling the doctor . . . I'm going to overdose, and I want to live."

"As you know, it was a sad story that Heath Ledger died and he took so many things, so I was like saying to the doctor, 'Please don't let me take so many'.

"I still, I am only 22. I want to live."

Jelena talks about her turn of luck in 2007:
"Since then I started to get better and better, and who knows, but if I didn't make it to the quarterfinals, if I didn't win a few matches in Rome, maybe I wouldn't be here right now, maybe I would be, you know, who knows, in my university, with thousands of books, reading, becoming a genius (laugh)."

Q. Justine is the only player who beat you on clay this year. You said several times you don't like to be in the same part of the draw. So are you expecting Serena to win?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Is she winning?

Q. Losing.

JELENA JANKOVIC: Who? Serena win?

Q. No, she's down a break.

Classic confused Jelena:

Q. Are you playing doubles with Ana at the Olympics?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I don't know. I don't think so. I'm not sure. We don't really play doubles. Especially with injuries I've been having, I'm barely playing singles. So I don't know if I could manage to play singles and doubles.

Q. If you're not that healthy in singles, two excellent players, a chance for a gold medal in doubles.

JELENA JANKOVIC: I don't know. We'll see when the time comes over there.

Q. The entries are in now.

JELENA JANKOVIC: I don't think we are playing then. I'm not sure, I guess.

JELENA JANKOVIC: I went to Serbia actually yesterday. I flew by ‑‑ not yesterday. I flew ‑‑ which day is today?

JELENA JANKOVIC: With who I played?

Q. Radwanska?

Q. Who wrote "I love Paris"?
JELENA JANKOVIC: First of all, I wrote a heart, you know, which is always I have on my shoes a heart, I have everywhere hearts. A lot of love everywhere.
And then, you know, they put ‑‑ my mom was putting, "I love Paris." And I said, Okay, but we need to write in French, J'aime Paris. JELENA JANKOVIC: Yeah, I'm okay. Except in the middle of the second set I started to have pain in my stomach. I had like knives, you know, like knives, like somebody putting knives in it. And I was little bit struggling. And it's quite bloated now, and I can be honest, I think, I could be getting like a woman's things. I cannot lie. So it's quite normal.

JELENA JANKOVIC: Actually, I went to the gym, which is across the street. It's kind of far away, so I had to go in my dress. I had to go in that ice bath, which was not so pleasant, but it helps, you know, to recover. That's what I basically did.

So I was ‑‑ you know, my transport was late, so I had to go with my coach and run through all the crowd. They were looking at me, What am I doing with my hair wet, with my dress all wet, kind of see‑through a bit. I was like running (laughter). Some more pearls from the post USO2008 final interview...

Q. Okay. Out there on court you're sighing, you're smiling, you're laughing. You said that your personality suites this tournament. What's the one thing in your personality that clicks with this tournament?

JELENA JANKOVIC: You know what? You know, I got the trophy here, and you know what I was thinking? Because you guys or the commentators said all about this drama and all this, I thought, you know, I should have gotten an Oscar for all this drama throughout the week. Despite, you know, getting a trophy, I should have gotten, you know, a trophy for the acting, for my drama.

I think I've done a great job.

Q. Maybe best supporting actress?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Best ‑‑ no, the leading role, you know. The best one. (laughter.) I enjoy the crowd and I have fun.

Q. Given this is your first Grand Slam singles final, what pleased you most about your performance tonight?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I have ‑‑ I don't know. I don't know what pleased me because I lost. You know, it's not really pleasing when you lose, you know. (laughter.)

Q. Are you going to take a long break after this or get right back to work?

Nothing else is happening, so let's go back in time:

(Stuttgart 2007)

“I was quite tired and wanted to go to my room. As my room card didn’t work I knocked loudly on the door because I knew my mother was in there and she’s a deep sleeper. When the door finally opened, I just walked in – and suddenly there was Justine facing me. Taken aback I asked her what she was doing in my room and then she asked me the same thing. Then we both started laughing loudly – I had got the room numbers mixed up. When I found out that we had to play each other today I thought I might knock on her door in the evening before and pretend to be room service with a bowl of fruit – in the hope I might distract her. But there again after seeing how well she played today I don’t think it’d have made much difference.”

"It's strange to be playing on my birthday," said the smiling Serb. "They asked me in the training room today if it was my birthday and I said no.

"I don't like to be the centre of attention. But when I walked onto court and the crowd sang to me, so I couldn't really hide it."

The third-seeded Jankovic's right arm bothered her earlier in the French Open, and it was taped up Saturday, when she finished off a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Dominika Cibulkova to reach the fourth round.

"It was quite big," Jankovic said, describing her forearm. "I was like Popeye."

I think this gem deserves the bump :sobbing:

Q. Wozniacki is No.4 in the world right now. Are you surprised that she's been able to climb up that high?

JELENA JANKOVIC: You can ask her if she's surprised or not.

Q. She is.

JELENA JANKOVIC: She is? She doesn't think she belongs there or?

Q. No. She thinks that things have been developing very fast for her.

JELENA JANKOVIC: You know, I think last year was really, you know, different year from, you know, maybe the past. Because there was a lot tournaments where a lot of seeds went out, and then some other players who were outside of the top 10, they took advantage of that. They used it.

And especially with the change of the points I think it was great for them, because a lot of times, as you could see in US Open, I don't know, in Madrid, I don't know, in many events, all the top seeds were not performing well due to I don't know which reason. I was one of them.

You know, some of them took advantage. That was the deal.

Here we go again... Dubai 2010.

After yelling at the ballkids, complaining about the sun, wind, asking for umbrella to be repositioned... She comes up with this:

Q. You were looking a little bit nervous in the second set?
JELENA JANKOVIC: Who?

Q. You.
JELENA JANKOVIC: I did? Not really. I didn't look nervous. I wasn't nervous. Maybe I looked nervous, but I wasn't nervous (smiling).

Also...

It's three hours difference, you know, it's not easy. You cannot sleep when you want to sleep. In the morning you cannot wake up, so I'm having those problems, you know since I came here. I sleep very late, and in the morning when I'm supposed to go to breakfast, I'm like a zombie (laughing).

There were also some really strange calls that night. I hit a serve that was so far out but nobody called it, and I had to challenge it. I challenged my own serve to be out! I've never seen that before. The umpire didn't see anything. It was unbelievable. It's not appropriate for a professional match on that level.

I mean, was there a point with these injuries where you said -- you know, you see all these players retiring, where you thought maybe it was time to put the racquet down? What were you thinking during all this?
JELENA JANKOVIC: To be honest, I still think I have a lot have tennis ahead of me. And when the times get tough, I think the easiest thing to do is, you know, give up. I'm not really a person who gives up that easily. I'm a fighter, and I always believe I can come back and I can be stronger.

Q. Maria has been in four finals here and she's lost them all. Do you think that this could be her year?
JELENA JANKOVIC: I don't know. Depends on who's gonna be in the finals. Serena, as well, is playing very well. I think Serena has a lot, a lot of wins against Maria. I don't remember the last time Maria won against Serena. When was that?
Q. 2004.
JELENA JANKOVIC: Yeah, I guess.
My pick would be Serena, but you never know. Women's tennis is quite unpredictable, so anything can happen.
Maria is in good form. She moved pretty well for her size, too. Today she did quite a good job, If she takes control of the point, then she's the better one because she's a big girl.

I can't believe this isn't here

On our way to the site, we were driving, me and my coach and my mom and my [hitting partner], and all of a sudden she was supposed to turn on the highway and then the car completely stopped.

Then my mom was like, "Oh, this car is not working." We were like, "What do you mean it's not working?"
It just stopped. It's not working. Something is wrong with it. We looked, and it was zero gas inside the car. I was like, "Oh, my God. Great. I have 20 minutes before my practice session."

And then, you know, luckily the gas station was like, you know, two minutes' walk. So me and my coach ran out to the gas station and bought that thing, that gallon that you put ‑‑ that you fill up. We kind of didn't know how you open this nozzle thing and stuff like that because it never happened. Then we ran out, you know, and then he put it in and it was okay. Then we got going.

But there were some players passing through and looking at us in the middle of the road, like, "What is she doing up there?" Pretty funny. It’s not how you begin the day, it’s how you end it, so I’m glad I got my win and we got going. We arrived to the practice court.

When I came to the site, there was all these people that wanted autographs, and I'm like, "Sorry guys; I'm late for practice. I got to go." I went straight to the court. They were all laughing. A lot of people found out because they saw me in the middle of the road.

I'm like, "How do you know I got left out without gas? I saw you. I was like, Why you didn't stop to drive me back?"

I experienced JJ in person last year at the US Open after her 1st round win on an outer court. She signs a ton of autographs (I must say she is a player that will stay as long as they let her to sign stuff) and finally see my chance to get the Empress' signature so make my way up but of course the guards are trying to move her out but her fans are standing there saying "No no please Jelena sign". JJ responds in only a way she can "Ahh but I've signed so many already..." but you know she's loving it and is really good with her fans so finally gets to me signs my hat and I say to her as I leave "Thank so much JJ I love you" and she just looks up with a smile that says I love doing this and my job and my fans.

JJ will always have a special place in my heart and I'll never forget her like sarcastically complaining in her dramatic way that she had "signed so many already" haha.

QUOTABLE QUOTES: GEMS FROM JJ
Jelena Jankovic isn't just one of the biggest stars on the court, she's also one of the biggest stars in the press room, week after week and year after year. Here she is in her own words...

CHARLESTON, SC, USA - Jelena Jankovic is not only one of the biggest stars on the tennis court - a former World No.1 back on the rise, having won 14 of her last 17 matches - but she's also one of the biggest stars in the press room, week after week and year after year. And that pattern didn't stop recently at the Family Circle Cup - here are some snippets of her post-match pressers from there...

On falling down on the court in her first match...
"It happened so fast. I was going to hit a volley and tried to slide and somehow my leg got stuck and I just rolled over and was on the ground. But I was lucky - I just fell on my behind, and it is not so small, so I had quite a good cushion. If I was a bit skinner it would be a problem, but now I'm okay."

On sinking into the couches during the changeovers...
"That's my way of getting energy back. Sometimes on the court I was losing a lot of energy being mad at myself. That's something I have to learn to control. It really affects my game and I don't do very well when I get mad like that. I have to change that - but it was really nice to have that couch and just sit and relax at changeovers. Especially when it gets really tight, you've gotta stay loose."

On playing doubles with Petkovic...
"We enjoy it. We enjoy playing doubles with each other. She's a very nice girl and obviously a great player. It was unfortunate when I heard today she had an injury and couldn't go forward in the tournament. It's never nice to hear someone is injured and cannot play, especially her - she has struggled a lot the last year or so with different kinds of injuries, and it's never nice to see that. I wish her a speedy recovery, and I hope it's nothing serious and she'll play again soon."

On Seles...
"There were a lot of players I looked up to when I was younger. Monica Seles was one of them. I really admired her a lot for her great qualities, and I always dreamed of one day becoming No.1 in the world or winning a Slam or doing well in certain tournaments. As a kid you always have dreams, and I come from a small country without a tradition in tennis, and I've come a long way. So I think anything is possible. You can achieve whatever you make your mind up to, and that's very important."

On whether she wore glitter on the court in Charleston...
"Maybe it was the hairspray. It was the hairspray. You can't put glitter on during the day. It doesn't shine. I mean it has to be cloudy here. And actually today was pretty nice weather. The Sun came out, so that was nice, but the last couple of days was quite cloudy, so even if I put glitter on, you wouldn't be able to see it. The night match would be good to wear it so you can shine and whatever.

"But I just have the normal hairspray on today. Can you guys tell I have hairspray? My hair is like concrete now. It doesn't matter if I fall down, if I get frustrated, if it's windy, it still stays slick. I always need it, because I have these bangs and they can't fit in the ponytail, so I have to glue it in."

"I beat Serena 5 or 6 times." Before the Beijing Final. She beat Serena 4 times.

This just has to be here::lol::lol:

“I always have joked that my backhand down the line was the shot that paid my bills,” Jankovic said.
“And I was like, this thing has to start working again, otherwise I can’t get my curtains and buy some new sofas and finish my house.”

This must be here:

On her serve...
"When they introduced me on the court, they said I was the player with the second most aces, or something like that. Some kind of statistic like that. I was like, 'Really?' I felt like I was Karlovic."

After her match with Azarenka in Istanbul.

I was reading through her Istanbul interviews, and found some gems :hearts:

After her match against Li Na (http://www.asapsports.com/show_interview.php?id=93927)
Q. I notice you tried to put a lot of balls into Li Na's backhand. It is fair to say that Li Na has one of the best backhands in the tour. So do you think it's effective strategy to do...
JELENA JANKOVIC: I didn't know I put a lot of balls on her backhand.

Q. I think you do or...
JELENA JANKOVIC: No, when I did, I didn't mean to do it. (Laughter).
:weirdo:

After her match against Errani (http://www.asapsports.com/show_interview.php?id=93959)
Q. Obviously facing Serena you're going to want to be feeling 100%. How do you think you'll cope with that tomorrow?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Yeah, like I said, I need to get a good night of sleep and drink some tea and hopefully feel better tomorrow. That's the most important.
You know, I think the reason is, you know, I think when I played against Azarenka I was soaked. I was very wet, and I came out, and in the hallways it's pretty cold. So then that kind of ‑‑that affected ‑‑I think that's when I got that little cold, and, you know, now I'm stuffed and all this. It's annoying, to be honest.
But, you know, I keep sneezing. So I cannot complain anymore. I just have to try and hope that I will be feeling better tomorrow. (Sneezing).
Against Serena it's going to be really important to feel good, have a lot of energy so that I can put up a fight against her.

I love how the only time she sneezed during the whole interview was right after she said she kept sneezing :worship:

After her match against Serena (http://www.asapsports.com/show_interview.php?id=93995)
Q. Serena was saying she felt like she just hit a wall in terms of...
JELENA JANKOVIC: She said what?

Q. She hit a wall.
JELENA JANKOVIC: Hit a wall? In what ways?

Q. Like physically just ran out of energy, an expression in English, or she ran out of gas.
JELENA JANKOVIC: Yeah, she ran out of gas and she was beating everyone in two sets. (Laughter).
I mean, did she play any three‑setters?
