If you have been following the US Open but won't be watching the Williams-Williams final, could you state you reasons please???

(I'm just trying to get a handle on the lack of support they seem to receive:confused:, not to fly of the handle at anybody).

:wavey:

I would love for an Davenport Venus \final only bewcause I think both of them is due for a slam title

But I am happy with this matchup, I am never a big fan of their and I hardly put any congratulatory message on their cheering thread, but I do appreciate their play and tlaents. I will watch this match whatever, nothign beat watching no.1 and no. 2in the world duking out in the final

Don't worry, they'll be watching...if only to have something negative to say. There are people willing to pay big bucks for a Williams/Williams ticket for tomorrow's final. It'll be awesome.

very true! just like they said they won't watch the French Open and Wimbledon finals, they'll definately watch the US Open finals, if not the entire match, they will watch a few minutes of it

Tennis fool - although many have said they won't be watching the final, the truth is they WILL be watching the match as will millions of other viewers. The Williams finals ALWAYS draw high ratings. :)

I'm not American, but I'm bored and will answer anyhow ;)

I won't be watching, because I don't have cable, and will be at a keg party.

If I had cable, and wasn't going out, I'd definately be there. I feel this could be their best yet.

I didn't see Wimbledon or the French Open either, cause I was either moving out, or didn't have cable hooked up both times.

In fact i didn't see the US Open last year either for the same reason :(

Reason? I generally don't watch sports when I don't care about who wins.. And that's that rare case in tennis where I absolutely don't care. Who wins - congratulations, who loses - better luck next time, but I'll find more exciting and useful things to do during that time..

The irony is, that 90% of fans, I suspect, don't care about outcome either. For Williams fans, it is a win-win situation. For those who are not fans of Williamses, there is no difference whatsoever who wins. So it is exciting only for those poor bastards who happen to be fans of Serena but not fans of Venus or vice versa.

I think it's stupid when people don't watch the finals because their fave didn't make it in. I watch all the finals I can when I have time because I am a tennis fan. Even if Venus or Serena loses early I still have a good time watching the slams or other tournaments.

tsk tsk, I'm one of those poor bastards ;) I want Venus to win, and rather could care less about Serena :o

But alas, no cable, and a keg ;)

I think it's generally stupid to waste precious hours of our short lives for watching tennis. But because we all are addicts, and it is inavoidable, Thanks God - there are Venus and Serena, because of their dominance we'll spend few hours more with our loved ones, friends, etc.

Becca, it is not the same. You always can choose one out of two based on some minor preference. I also prefer Venus to win - simply because for my taste she still has some slight traces of feminine attractiveness left in her. But that would not change the fact I don't care.

I am American and won't be watching the final. I also didn't watch last years final, the french final or the wimbledon final. I can't say that I am a big fan of the Williams sisters well at least when they are playing each other (Wimby 2000 was the last time I watched them play). I am casul fan I guess. I used to LOVE Serena last year, rooting for her in every match (unless playing Monica ;)). I dunno, something changed and I don't follow her that closely anymore.

Exactly.

Especially if you are the type to post on this board. If you post here, then you are a diehard fan, and as Henin says, for sure you'll be watching. Heck, people on this board would probably watch two cats playing tennis.

Last years US Open final between Venus/Serena had a bigger tv audience than a big time college football game shown at the same time.
