I would think so, at least the second set was fantastic.

Her serve was going well.
Her returns were FANTASTIC, so many times long and deep to Serena's feet.
Her movement was AMAZING, compared to what we have seen before. She was actually FAST today.
Her defense was so great. She got to many balls I didn't except her to reach and retrieved them deep.
And even her moral was good. That she believed in her chances at all was already great to notice. And she fought really well in the 2nd set.
I can't even blame her that she lost the last 2 games so fast. When you play your best tennis and reach 3 set-points, and then your opponent just serves them away, well, what else can you try ?

Although I really wanted Lindsay to win the second set, I'm very happy about her performance. The result was much better than I expected. I hope Lindsay isn't too disappointed about the loss. Instead she should realize that she was really able to compete with Serena and that she maybe is the winner next time.

I too thought Lindsay played extremely well. Not alot more she could have done. Serena on the other hand did not play with the energy she did at Wimbie. Lindsay just needs more stamina and she will be right up there.

No. Best match: 1998 US Open final against Hingis.

Lindsay was winning most of the rallies in that match. It was just the dominance of Serena's serve that closed her out of the match.

Serena's serve is easily the best ever in the women's game, and there isn't a way anyone has yet found to overcome the huge advantage it gives her.

Lindsay played really well - I haven't seen her so determined against a Williams sister since she stepped it up to beat Venus in Linz.

She may not have won today but I think she definitely made some progress.

The best match I have ever seen Lindsay play is when she beat Serena at the US Open a few years back I think it was 6-4, 6-2. It was flawless tennis on Lindsay's part.

Well, it is her best match this year... :)

I think she did really well, especially since she usual doesn't fight so hard against them, looks like this long break has gave her more fire and fight.

I think Lindsay just needs more matches coz she just came back and right now she can only perform 80% of her best performance.... and i hope that Lindsay improves and beat the crap out of the williamses next time..... but i was quite satisfied with the way she played in the 2nd set except that she didn't take her chances when she had 3 setpoints....

Maybe her beating Mauresmo in New HAven shoudl have been her best result of the year, Amelie just coming from winning Canada.

And her best match ever? Australian Open 2000 Final she hit every winner as possible to get to 6-1 5-1 lead over Martina Hingis, that kind of tennis was just awesome from her.

Well, OK, maybe it wasn't her best match ever. But her defensive play was, I think, better than I have seen it before.
Also you should not forget that it's easier for her to play someone like Martina than Serena. Against Serena, it's very tough for her to look good, but she did.
