Ula's draw is really bad, just as always :( Yanina will be very tough to beat and then if she even wins she will play against Stosur, who is also dangerous. But still, I believe in Ula :)

Aga- hard to say, first two round could ofc cause some problems, but they're quite good imo. Then Patty or Katya- tough match. Then Sveta, who is a tough matchup but beatable. Then Flavia/Serena :)

Not much to say about this match. Those who seen this match must agree it never looked dangerous. Aga played an average match, mixing errors and world class plays. But it was definitely enough for RDLR. The most important is Aga finished it quickly, saving energy for later rounds. :)

Didn't see any problems with serve, but she seemed to move worse than normally, though can't say is it me or she really has some problem. RDLR didn't really test her enough to make the potential injury visible.

I watched most of the match. :) Aga was playing really well. Of course, she threw a few errors every now and then, but her backhand was on fire and her serve is also a lot better now! She hit a couple of aces I think and it went really deep. As for Rossana, I have to say I am very impressed by her :inlove::inlove: I thought she'd have the typical moonballing clay game, but she actually has a really nice game to watch. :worship: Hard strokes from both sides (with the backhand being the stronger part) and she also moves really well for her age. :worship: She also didn't give up and fought till the end after fighting back to adv-40 from 0-40 in the last game. :awww:

Overall, I think Aga is the dark horse. Don't expect her to lose till QF at least (Haven't checked her draw though.) And I think Rossana should not retire :awww: She got really unlucky this clay season :( Injury and then this awful draw :(

I'm not changing my mind. I think the other comment is overrating a bit. I base my opinion on knowing what Aga can play. It was typical Aga's match: I can play better (can she? good then ;)), but what for if this is enough for her. Really, I don't care how she played, how many errors she made, how many fabulous winners she hit or how many aces served. It doesn't matter. She must finish first 3 rounds as fast as possible, ANYHOW. Real fight starts from Swietłana Kuzniecowa. There she must play her best.

I understand your point of view... I wasn't trying to imply that one of the commentaries was inaccurate. I just merely stated the fact that we always see events through our own lenses. It is fun to read or hear various points of view except the ones comming from blinded fans or equally blinded haters. It enriches the experience even if one was watching the event oneself.

Monday 25 May – As it happened
Monday, May 25, 2009
By Andrew Lilley

8.09 pm: And ooh, Aggie Rad races to victory – 6-1 in the second set. I like Agnieszka – in and around the top 10 for a while now. Time for her to make her move, I say.

7.43 pm: A run of five games in a row sees Aggie Rad take the first set. Good big serves and occasional forays to the net are her recipe

7.33 pm: Aha, Krakow’s finest Aggie Rad has broken back. I’m informed that she has built training courts in the city for local youngsters to play on – good for her, when so many players tend to live abroad.

7.25 pm: A less decent start is the one made by Agnieszka Radwanska, who is a break down to Rosanna de los Rios.

one more report which shows how news spread i mean one about courts ;) Now Isia has no choice but make them

Vamos Isia :)

There is a huge difference between 0:6 and 5:7. And yes, it matters. It matters for the audience, for the fans, and ultimately, it matters for the one who loses. There are losses -- and losses...

Agata.
May 27th, 2009, 11:51 AM
Ula's comment after the match:

I started well, but then she started playing better thanks to the spectators. The Belgian fans exaggerated. They behaved like cads. They were too loud, they screamed like they'd come to the football match, not for the tennis one. It helped the Belgian, I don't know if she would've played so well without such a support. However, I don't think that it threw me off the balance. She started playing very well, she didn't allow me to play my tennis, she hit the balls very hard. I've never liked clay courts and this won't change.

Problems with psyche? I don't know, maybe. My style doesn't fit to clay. I prefer hardcourts and grass. Maybe it will be better next year. Psychologist? I haven't been thinking about it. I'm not sure if it is a good idea.

I think it's true, i've watched the Santoro vs. Rochus match, at first i thought that the French fans behaved too loud but then I noticed that there was a very loud cheering when Rochus won a point and loud whistlings after Santoro won a point :/

whole article (with her father's comment, he says that Ula lost because at one point of the match she had a feeling that she could win and this frightened her :/): http://www.sport.pl/tenis/1,96961,6654064,U__Radwanska__Belgijscy_kibice_pom ogli_rywalce.html

Again not much happened there, except those 4 games in a row for Marija. That was same old story with Aga again relaxing too much and the rival going for crazy shots and being for few games on fire. But Aga is smart girl and knows what to do to finish the match. :worship:

There was some funny moment in first game of 2nd set. Aga thought Marija's serve was out and showed the mark to the umpire, but he didn't agree. Aga was complaining loudly then, I only understood short part of this: co tu idiota jakiś robi linie? (is some idiot making lines here?). In next point her opponent had the same problem, but again ump showed the ball was in. Marija started complaining. When they showed Aga, she was smiling. You don't see this too often in her matches. :)

Now Kateryna Bondarienko, who had problems with some unknown Polish. Hopefully the well-known Polish wins this time.

I have seen the second set! Well the stats are clearly in Aga's favour but I didn't have the impression Aga was playing way above Katya. She was more in control of points on serve, defended pretty well but got really helped by the tons of mistakes Bondarenko made. Katya looked clueless on clay.
Quite a routine win overall. :yeah: It's good to see she is playing consistently! Brawo!

She will have to raise her level really high and play deeper if she wants to beat Swieta! She can still drive her crazy after all but it's definitely not the same Kuznetsova as last year.

Agata.

the only hope is sveta reacts allergic to aga's game as she used to in their grand slam matches recently... unless aga mixes it up well and plays really deep, sveta will keep hitting tons of winners like she did in her 3 previous matches

May 30th, 2009, 03:00 PM
Nice job, Agnieszka, way to get your revenge. I'm watching the match (replay) right now. It's available to Americans on "tennis-channel.tv". You do have to sign up for free, but it provides incredible coverage. This was the first match of Agnieszka's that is has shown. I would be able to tape it and upload it, but I haven't found a suitable video-recording software for Mac OS X. The three I've tried are glitchy and don't record video clearly enough for tennis. I'm welcome to any suggestions.

Having watched the match:

Agnieszka should be known as the queen of "doing just enough". That perfectly summed up this match. She didn't waste energy, she didn't go for too much, and she didn't make the match unnecessarily hard for herself. She exposes Katya's weakness on clay, and used it to her advantage. I particularly loved how she was in every one of Katya's service games, with many chances to break, but was holding most of her own service games easily. Her serving itself was very impressive, with 4 aces and many more service winners and strong serves setting up a "serve-and-drive-volley" combo. The only (small) problem I had with this match was her backhand slice. She used it only twice, but it gave Katya the edge each time, landing far too short in the court. The first time, Katya hit a drop shot winner off of it. The second time, Katya hit an impressive forehand only for Agnieszka to neutralize the point with another slice forehand, this one deep in the corner. If she wants to pull the off against Sveta, it needs to be deep and to Sveta's BH, hopefully gaining an advantage.

Matt.
May 30th, 2009, 04:21 PM
From Sveta's interview, in which she talks about her next opponent, Isia:

Q. Could you say something about your possible rival in the fourth round, Agnieszka Radwanska? You played her seven times. Four won, three lost. Which of these matches do you remember the most, the best, and why?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: She plays great. I don't know if it was last match or not, but I was up 4‑1 in the third in Wimbledon. I was playing everything great, and I suddenly ‑‑ I thought I would change something and do something new, and I started to do something new and I lost the match. This I remember very well.

Q. Something new? What? What something new? What was something new?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: Well, I don't remember now, but I remember I start to change something, and I lost, but I was very comfortable, and I know that she's a great player. I have lots of respect for her.
I don't have great record against her, but I know if I confident with myself, if I play the right game, the right tactic, I feel okay with her. You know, I'm not like ‑‑ I don't know. I have good chances.

Q. Can you say something about her strengths and her weaknesses, Radwanska's tennis?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: She moves well. She reads the game well. It's her strength.
Weaknesses, I will keep it to myself.

First of all, I am really puzzled why in almost each slam Aga has Sveta followed by Serena (Wimbledon, AO and now). This is very strange and unfortunate for Aga, comparing to draws that some other girls have. This time Sveta is on fire and the upcoming match seems like perfect revenge she was waiting for.
But this shouldn't be of course any excuse. If Agnieszka wants to join the top, she needs to be capable of beating players like Kuznetsova in current form. Tough way to the top, but if she manages to pull this upset, she will prove again she is a good player, not some lucky duck.

Doesn't the mode change automatically depending on whether you play an audio or video material?

I just made a small experiment and I noticed that KMP starts in the mode it was the last time before you closed it.

When I dragged an AVI file into the KMP window the mode changed from Audio to Video as I expected.

Yes, I do. I watched it in VLC but I just checked and KMP opens it properly: both the video and the audio tracks present.

When something like what you do happens that is an indication of a codec problem. Not that KMP doesn't have a codec for it installed -- Matt's upload is a WMV file, it is a standard Windows video format so it plays by default in all players for Windows -- but rather because of possible conflicts between codecs installed on your computer.

Try playing in KMP another file with the extension WMV and see what happens.

It is possible that you, or somebody on your behalf, installed some codec packs that are in conflict with each other. This is one of the common traps of installing those 'huge' codec pacjages: if you have too many codecs there are likely to be problems like that.

In your case, Neta, my recommendation is: try a different player: start with Windows own Media Player, when this doesn't work try (free) VLC, if that doesn't work (unlikely), or if you don't like its controls/appearance, try GOM Player -- I like the last a lot due to how easy and convenient is to stop-and-replay in GOM as compared to other players. And it also is a great way to play Flash video clips in GOM -- you don't need any Flash players for that.

Good win, Aga!:hearts::yeah::D

I watched the whole match and it was entertaining! I really enjoyed watching it.;)
(Probably because Aga vs hardhitter (like K.Bondarenko) is often a nice match to watch!)
In the 1st set Aga played some great points, aggressive shots and served well.
Then in the 2nd set, especially in the end, she went passive again and perhaps thought Kateryna would give up.:( I want her to fight and stay aggressive until last point!

(Kateryna Bondarenko is a good player, but she has to improve her consistency, patience and mental strength imo.)

Next vs Kuznetsova: Obviously Kuznetsova is big favourite. I think it will go 3 sets. Hopefully Aga plays well and upsets her! It`s not impossible, remember Wimbledon!
And we should not forget: Kuznetsova is not Safina or Serena!:)

Good luck in 4th round match, Aga!;)
Stay aggressive and serve well!

Superb win for girls! :) I really thought they blew it when they got broken in the 2nd and had to save a double BP which would level the 2nd set. Is this they're best wins in doubles ever?

The way they dominated in this match reminded me Istanbul 2007 run, when they lost just 11 games in whole tournament (3 matches).

Then I believed sisters have great potential in doubles. Though they didn't show this for next 2 years. ;)

Well, it's good when the matches aren't too long. It's like a practice in free day. But when it's over 2h, then 3 sets in singles and Aga is... injured.

Interesting fragments from the post-match article (whole article in polish here (http://www.sport.pl/tenis/1,96961,6669213,Roland_Garros__Siostry_Radwanskie_ w_cwiercfinale_debla.html)

We played relaxed, we don't stress. We don't know ourselves what can happen in our doubles performance - said sisters after the match. -

The opponents of sisters were seeded with two but in fact they had nothing to say since the beginning. Nearly every attack of Peschke and Raymond were punished with a smart lob or a precise passing shot. Ula served greatly, Agnieszka a bit worse but she played fantastic by the net. There was aprox. 1000 people on the stands. The majority supported Radwańskas as they played a prettier tennis and additionally nobody bet on then before the match.

Rarely do we play doubles but you can see watching this match that they have a big tallent for that. They defeated the second couple in the world - the professional couple which plays nothing but doubles for money during whole year. Doubles is for us a addition for singles but it doesn't mean that we don't want to win the matches - especially as it's a grand slam - said Robert Radwański.

- It was just a great match. Doubles is nice to watch. I am very proud of Ula who served well and didn't spoil herself mentally. In the second set she served by 4:3 15:40 (two break points) and sent a few so good serves that the opponents' jaws dropped - smiled Radwański

- It was a tough couple but we are also menacing in doubles if we both play our 100%. Today we managed to play such a match. Neither of us made errors. Nobody had to pull the game and those are the effects - said Agnieszka.

Both coach and sisters really with treat doubles with their tongue in their cheek. Nobody knew who they were to face in the next round. In fact they didn't even look at the doubles draw. - It doesn't really matter. We play with no pressure, no matter who we will face, we will try to make a good score - added Urszula.

They will play Su-Wei Hsieh and Shuai Peng in the quarterfinal. - Yes? Whatever... - shrugged sisters. They didn't even care that both Liezel Huber/Cara Black and Williams sisters are in the other half of the draw and they would face them not before the final.

They came to life when one of the journalists noticed that Marcin Matkowski - the partner of Lisa Raymond in the mixed doubles, was on the match and he applauded quite weak after Poles made good actions. - Yeeeeees? We will get even with them - laughed Agnieszka.

On Monday Agnieszka will face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the 4th round - My thoughs about this match haven't changed since yesterday. There will be for sure a fight. Kuzzie plays hard, she makes top-spins, I must upset the balance of hers. The most important is that I didn't get tired in doubles today- said Radwańska.

Coach stressed that just in case Agnieszka won't have an additional training on Sunday.

Is there any way you could upload the 'Aga vs. Kuzi AO 2008' match to MegaUpload, or another file hosting site? I don't believe Malva has that recorded in the Matches on Video thread.

I can not say how happy I am for the Radwanska sisters at this point! :) Esp to Aga for being in the 4r of a slam. But also Ula who should've won a couple matches here (still bitter ). They are in the QF of doubles in a GS! This will help out their careers tremendously if they can just pull out a win here in RG. I'm rooting for you girls!

It's no shame losing to Kuzniecowa, especially the one on fire. But nothing is lost before the match. Lets forget about previous 7 matches. This is a new match, a new story will be written. I like the fact Aga feels healthy, not tired and, after doubles win, quite confident. I just want her to fight. To go on court with thinking only about win. To be aggressive, to not be scared and to not give up whatever the score will be. Go Agnieszka! :)
