bruce, your french is really good, you just forgot 'ce' before 'que'.
my little corrections:
Dinara revient finir ŕ RG ce qu'elle a commencé.

or another idea : Mademoiselle Safina est de retour ŕ Roland pour finir ce qu'elle a commencé

BTW what's the story of the bird and plane?

BTW what's the story of the bird and plane?:confused:That's very kind of you,Lilimi, but my high-school French has deteriorated quite a bit from lack of practice so I did a little online searching:angel:....However,aye CAN answer your question: In the original Superman TV series, which started in B&W I think, the intro to the show had citizens looking in wonder up into the sky and remarking:"Look! It's a bird! It's a plane! No,it's Superman!"....and Maz gave us a cute, dorky spin-off of that:p

Another interesting sidenote:the actor who played Superman in the movie was named Christopher Reeve, while the TV actor was named George Reeves(at least aye THINK it was 'George')...and they both had lives cut short by tragic circumstances...more 'Twilight Zone' than 'Superman'

she said, she didn't feel the pressure in the last weeks. but actually nobody expected too much from a "fake no. 1". but she raised the expectations, and now she should live with them. and next week, the pressure will be REAL.

i guess, she doesn't want to wait another year. she has to win this.

good luck.

Draw live on rolandgarros.com
On Friday 22 May at 11.30 am at the Club des Loges, the draw for the men's and women's singles tournaments will be carried out, with reigning champions Rafael Nadal and Ana Ivanovic drawing the seeds by hand. The remaining 96 players in each tournament will then be drawn electronically. Follow the draw live on rolandgarros.com as the players' names appear one by one in the two sets of brackets!

Serena, Venus and JJ are already on the RG courts practising, I wonder where Dina is practising?

Safina on centre court

It was a balmy 24°C at Roland Garros on Wednesday and the sun certainly brought the stars out of their hotels and onto the practice courts. Roger Federer had his second session of the week, spending some time on Philippe Chatrier court in the afternoon. Like Federer, women's world No1 Dinara Safina chose centre court for her practice session, while Amélie Mauresmo, who once occupied Safina's spot at the top of the rankings, was on No1 court.

There's also a picture but since I've never posted one I'm a bit apprehensive about that. If anyone else wants to post it, it's on the RG website.

EDIT: Thanks, Maz and Laura for posting the pic.

The names of the men's and women's players will appear in the singles draw, one after the other, once the official who is on hand to monitor the draw has validated them. The official brackets will then appear on-screen in real time.

The draw is one of the key moments in the tournament as it determines who will play whom in the first round and then right through to the later stages. Find out what the glamour ties will be in the opening round, and see who the 32 men's and women's singles seeds will have to face throughout the tournament.

Don't miss out on the excitement!

Safina avoids clay specialists
World No1 Dinara Safina, who has won two titles this month already (in Rome and Madrid) should not be tested too much by Britain’s Anne Keothavong in the opening round. She has also been given the kinder half of the draw, with no big names liable to cross her path before a meeting with either defending champion Ana Ivanovic (who is a lowly No8 seed after struggling ever since winning here last year) or Victoria Azarenka (No9) in the quarter-finals.

The Williams sisters are in separate halves of the draw, with Venus scheduled to meet Safina in a remake of their epic three-hour, three-set battle in Rome in the semi-finals. Serena (No2 seed) has the more clay-specialist half of the draw, with the likes of Flavia Pennetta (No14) due to face her in the Round of 16 and Svetlana Kuznetsova (No7) in the quarters. The third quarter of the draw will also be hotly contested, with Elena Dementieva (No4), Jelena Jankovic (No5), Caroline Wozniacki (No10) and Marion Bartoli (No13) all in that part of the bracket.

Possible Round of 16 ties
Women’s singles
Safina (No1) – Zheng (No15)
Azarenka (No9) – Ivanovic (No8)
V. Williams (No3) – Mauresmo (No16)
Petrova (No11) – Zvonareva (No6)
Jankovic (No5) – Wozniacki (No10)
Bartoli (No13) – Dementieva (No4)
Kuznetsova (No7) – A. Radwanska (No12)
Pennetta (No14) – S. Williams (No2)

i know, but it's all about drama. and Dinara likes adrenaline.
and Zheng running, Kleybs sweating, Azarenky bitching and voila, exciting draw. i mean, the only clayGOAT in her draw is Ivanovic, and she barely did any remarkable stuff lately, but who knows...

Eh, I don't think it really matters. Court 1 is still a huge show court. And I assume that there's also something at work like at Wimbledon where at a certain point they try to have everyone play on the main court just in case they make the finals, so that finals won't be the first time they get out there. Dina's already been on Chartrier... so tomorrow she's on Court 1, so what? I'm sure she doesn't care half as much as anyone here does. It's still a tennis court. :)

Btw, to put Rezai - Larcher de Brito on Chatrier is such a big joke. She's French ok, so she can get maybe court 1 but Chatrier

Steffi :hearts: She's gonna play a match with Andre in one of the courts on the 8 th of June but I doubt it will be on TV :(

I'm gonna be so happy if Dina followed Steffi's footsteps, but seriously court 1, that's a joke:tape:

3. Dinara Safina is en fuego: This is really getting out of hand.

The world No. 1 has played three successful matches so far and lost a total of four games in six sets. Four games. In six sets. Crazy.

Safina destroyed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-0 and now plays Aravane Rezai, the Frenchwoman who survived a squall of shrieks from Michelle Larcher de Brito.

"I play aggressive, and I'm going for my shots," Safina said, ominously. "Let's see who's going to be stronger."

Rezai is a high-strung and highly erratic Frenchwoman, who will make this entertasining for the home folks. But Safina has the look of a Grand Slam champion right now.

Day 12 - Match of the Day: D. Safina (No1) VS. D. Cibulkova (N20)

BACKGROUND
Sitting pretty at the No1 position since April this year, Dinara Safina has her eyes set on a Grand Slam victory. After making it to the finals of the French in 2008 and at the Australian Open in January this year, the 23 year old wants to go all the way in Paris.

Dominika Cibulkova’s entry into the semi-finals at Roland Garros came as a surprise to many, herself included. The 20 year-old is the first Slovak to make the final four at the French and hopes that a surprise ending is also in the works.

CURRENT FORM
Dinara Safina is playing her best tennis at the moment. She is full of confidence and has had a string of 15 consecutive wins. The Russian has only lost one match on clay this season, against Svetlana Kuznetsova in the Stuttgart Grand Prix final. In the quarter-finals at the French, Victoria Azarenka gave the world No1 a run for her money, but Safina’s warrior spirit won out in the end.

After a three-week absence due to an injured thigh, the young Slovak’s participation was uncertain up until the beginning of the tournament. The world No19 has been showing fine form so far however, dropping only one set in the first round to Alona Bondarenko. Cibulkova has been going from strength to strength, as evidenced by her 6-0 6-2 victory over Maria Sharapova in the quarter-finals.

STRENGTHS
Powerful and agile with superb court coverage, Dinara Safina shines on clay thanks to her hard-hitting style and beautifully placed drop-shots. The Muscovite struggled with a weak mental game in the past, but in little over a year she has made tremendous progress. She has been aided in that, by her coach, Zeljko Krajan.

With her stocky frame, Dominika Cibulkova likes high-paced rallies. The Slovak can cover all corners of the court, using her dynamic footwork to control the game or to counter her opponent’s shots.

TACTICS
Dinara Safina has all it takes to be the huge favourite in this semi-final match. Taller and more powerful than her opponent, the 23 year old has experience playing big matches in the big tournaments.

With nothing to lose, Dominika Cibulkova makes for a dangerous opponent. But will she be able to get the upper hand over Safina?

HEAD-TO-HEAD
Safina and Cibulkova met twice before, in 2008. Safina was victorious in both encounters.

Dominika Cibulkova has a big challenge ahead of her. In two matches, she has only won ten games against the Russian.
