If Maria plays like she did in Barcelona to beat Carla then I don't see Wickmayer or Cetkovska being problems for her, Wickmayer is a headcase and Maria beat Cetkovska last year on clay. She played Marta in Warsaw last year even though it was just an exho it was on clay and Maria beat her comfortably.

Livestream :D great news.

Look at her run in Barcelona I think her knee is fine now plus she's had a week off. The black tape is just precautionary. I don't think she would have played doubles here but maybe Sorana asked her and well they would be a good chance at the title.

I wish she would pull out of doubles now but she won't

Nikkiri
Apr 27th, 2009, 07:51 PM
Why would she pull out of doubles? She needs more matches now and some wins after this shocker if they come from doubles so be it.

Also no idea who her coach is. he is some Spanish guy i think. Also her father doesn't seem to be there with her, her mother was.

watchdogfish
Apr 27th, 2009, 08:04 PM
It sounded a bit strained at the end but she should really go back to Eric Van Harpen. At least she could string a few wins together and win a handful of titles with him.

Apr 27th, 2009, 08:15 PM
For her confidence, she must play doubles if her knee is ok (because she didn't look good on her feet today).

Nikkiri
Apr 28th, 2009, 04:24 AM
Last week she had a week off and trained at the Sanchez-Casal academy and it made no difference what so ever.. this is just Maria, get used to it  First things first she needs to hire a professional coach not some young guy with weak tactics for Maria to use. She played really well in Barcelona I can tell you that right now if she could have played like that here she would have been holding the trophy at the end of the week, but today was just awful a bad day at the office. I'm sure it doesn't help that Igor is pretty much the male version of her :tape: if they could both make some progress together that would be great.

They're both so talented, that's a shame to see that they're losing these kinds of matches. For example,i would not be surprised if Igor lost against Fish today (if they can play)missing a lot of BP like against Ljubicic.

Honnestly, a guy who advises Maria to pump her fist after Marta's double fault can't be a coach, she must have found him somewhere in Morocco and asked him to make her laugh during the breaks:lol::help:

Another big choke for Igor who is trying to compete with Marat:worship: . I saw the end of the match,Igor's forehand wasn't efficient at all because of the heavy court but he should have won that one anyway.I'm wondering if he's not better on hard courts now:sad:.

If Maria and him have babies,i hope they won't play tennis:tape:

Congrats girls for the doubles;)

Good win in doubles for Makiri. :clap2: I`m pleased with the way she and Sorana came back from down 2-4 in the first set. This is a nice start for her in doubles.

BTW what a huge choke from Marat today. :help: Also i`m a bit sorry for Igor, but at the same time i`m more happy that Mardy got the win. :) Hey i`ve got to show my support for the guys on Team USA.

Igor :spit: I knew it. No wonder Maria is such a headcase. :o It seems as though they swapped fave surfaces, Maria is much better on clay now days and Igor is better on hardcourt.

Anyways good doubles win I went to sleep when they were down 1-3 or something.

I don't know if they showed the doubles yesterday but probably not

Court 4 (from 11.00hrs)
1. Keothavong vs. Domínguez Lino
2. Fernández-Brugues vs. Domachowska
3. Cirstea/Kirilenko vs. Czink/Keothavong (after suitable rest)

Igor should ask for a wild card in Estoril (i'm sure that he'll go there,so better asking for a wild card than helping Maria to choke:tape:) or play the qualies if he can't have a WC,he could at least win some matches (maybe).

kirivanovic
Apr 29th, 2009, 05:14 PM
Yes i guess,Czink had a long match earlier,so i think they'll play soon.

Cetkovska/Hradecka vs. Ani/Vinci was scheduled after Czink's match and it began 30 minutes ago,so Czink's match should have finished 45 mins ago.
