View Full Version : Marion confirmed for Rome and Madrid.

So shes playing 3 tournaments in a row, no sign about Strasbourg yet and honestly i hope she doesnt play there so as she can have a good week of rest before the FO rather then playing for 5 straight weeks on her least favourite surface. Then the clay season will be over thank god. Then onto grass and hard where i think she will pass over 50 wins this year granted nothing happens to her. She has 1 win from Berlin, 1 from Rome and then nothing else until Eastbourne. I hope she does well, and i think she'll do great again at Wimbledon this year.

First of all, Stuttgart as "Marquee player" for Europe.

Strasbourg entry list is available. 1st seed is AMG (last winner) : http://www.internationaux-strasbourg.fr/ (http://www.internationaux-strasbourg.fr/).

With 3 tournaments in a row to play, it will be surprising that Marion asks for a WC. Moreover, Strasbourg is now managed by fft. On my opinion, they would ask Amélie or Alizé to play.

I'm pretty happy about where marion stands in the Rome draw. i dont know about you guys, but i sure wouldnt want her in either one of the williams sisters part of the draw. Ivanovic has been playing poorly, safina is only starting to come on again, vera is coming off of a recent injury, and jelena hasnt been playing top form even though shes still in suttgart and won that recent tourny. Petrova is beatable and marion is playing, espeically after this stuttgart open, like a top 10 player so i believe she'll do well in Rome like she did in Stuttgart. She almost beat elena and i would love to see how she can do against safina.

Starting with R1, peng i dont see as too much of a threat. Marion makes me nervous with first rounds and i feel like after that she's fine. she just needs to pull through and hit through the ball. we all know shes the better two handed player over peng.
R2 will probably be amelie which is no surprise. Marion now has the upper hand and she be fine. Once shes in the groove and after playing well this past week i have confidence she;ll do well against her. Amelie has surprises and can play with the ball so marion should be ready for short balls, lobby forehands, and a ton of slices. personally, i dislike amelies game, it looks weak to me.

we'll see what happens and good luck marion, stay healthy

There is no reason to lose to Peng. I don't know how the rest of you feel, but to me, she is just an inferior version of Marion.

Amelie in r2 could be a very tough match though.

Go Marion!!!!:rocker:

May 2nd, 2009, 02:18 PM
Marion won't play Strasbourg for sure. She prefers to practice very hard in Roland Garros with very good players as she said in "l'équipe" from this morning.

I hope a very interesting Marion-Momo in Roma R2.

I watched the second set of Marion/Lena. It was really great tennis. I forgot how much I love watching Marion on clay, since rallies are longer, her grunt becomes louder... it makes things so dramatic!!!!! You have to love her for being such a fighter!
Rome's draw is looking fine with many serious tests like Mauresmo or Suarez Navarro. Interesting to see if Marion can beat real claycourters...

First Peng. The last time they played on red clay Baba gave up. So time for revenge, allez!

:bounce: hellas719, the final score was 6-O 7-6 anyway, Marion was the winner :)

Next Oponent in Rome: Mauresmo ;) or Martinez-Sanchez

May 3rd, 2009, 10:00 PM
Good start! :D Glad she showed people who follow French tennis how to win a tie-break unlike Mauresmo. She could have still have made it quicker, I hope she finds a way of winning her matches in an hour. Well, that may be a bit too demanding ^^.
Interesting match next round against a serve and volley adept, Maria José Martinez Sanchez. :)

May 3rd, 2009, 10:23 PM
I'm a bit  about this next match. I've never seen Maria José Martinez play, and she's had some good clay results.

Interesting match next round against a serve and volley adept, Maria José Martinez Sanchez. :)Indeed,Marion's first-ever matchup with MJMS should be an interesting one,Iceland.I'm not lamenting the fact that Marion won't face Mauresmo cuz Amelie isn't playing too well...and she'd pro'bly just try to steal Marion's glory by quitting and walking off the court as she did in Brisbane when she realized that Marion finally had her number

May 4th, 2009, 12:52 PM
Marion explained she had no time to practice in Roma. She was surprised to play so quickly on sunday.

So, no fears.

[11] M Bartoli (FRA) vs M Martinez Sanchez (ESP) - Second Match on court

May 5th, 2009, 04:17 PM
Grr the rain at the moment is so annoying.

May 5th, 2009, 08:45 PM
Lost 61 75 . Bon Amélie did actually better than her.
The key part of the match was these 3 GPs wasted at 42. Well, she has more time to prepare Madrid now.

May 5th, 2009, 08:49 PM
Choketoli strikes again in rome. Shoulda of taken it to a 3rd set.
Oh well, can't say I'm too suprised.

Good luck in Madrid.

R2: Maria Jose Martinez-Sanchez ESP def. (11)Marion Bartoli FRA 6-1 7-5

Bartoli couldnt do anything against clay's nightmare Mariajo so good luck next time Marion! i hope you will win a few matches more to arrive at the Roland Garros with more confidence. :)

Trying to be positive here.......better to lose to a relatively-anonymous MJMS than to fall to Mauresmo.......not that Marion wouldn't have stomped her again:devil:

May 6th, 2009, 08:21 AM
Ach, wee Marion:sad: But, onto Madrid to start again!

May 8th, 2009, 04:43 PM
Madrid draw out, Marion will play Wozniak first with Patty or Errani afterwards. Then most likely Petrova. Ill set the third round as my expectation for this tournie. :)

May 8th, 2009, 05:42 PM
this will be interesting....rematch of stanford '08

May 8th, 2009, 07:21 PM
A good draw. I'm not hopeful she'll take advantage of it though.

May 8th, 2009, 09:43 PM
Marion will play tomorrow on Arantxa Sanchez Vicario court [10:30 start]
ATP Match
ATP Match
Soler Espinosa vs. Kleybanova
Bartoli vs. Wozniak
Benesova vs. Petrova

May 9th, 2009, 12:11 AM
Wow a saturday start. Good luck.

May 9th, 2009, 05:37 PM
Eurgh. I can't wait for the grass court season.

May 9th, 2009, 05:42 PM
I wouldn't be suprised if she has another 1st round exit at the French.
Losing to Wozniak x2 is really pathetic.

May 9th, 2009, 06:02 PM
I had hopes but she is too inconsistent to get back to the top 10 again. Players like radwanska and Wozniacki beat who they are supposed to on a consistent basis.

May 9th, 2009, 06:43 PM
Ew to this result. I echo Sluptoli, the grass cant come fast enough. How quickly her promising clay season has turned.

May 9th, 2009, 07:17 PM
Well let's not forget that Charleston is played on green clay & Stuttgart indoors. Conditions are really different to Rome and Madrid's.
These results overall proved that Marion is capable of reaching the 3rd round with a good draw and may battle her way to qualify to the 4th. Wozniak will be seeded in Roland-Garros, technically it's not that bad of a loss even though it's extremely disappointing. She will be very vulnerable to ballbashers & clay courters though.

I hope she doesn't lose too much confidence before the grass court season actually begins.

Marion is missing practising with Vera.

It shouldn't fall into the category of "abusive language" if I point out that Wozniak is a rather heavy gal who shouldn't do so well in hot weather on clay.Still,I'll stick by our Corsican Queen :hearts:Marion:hearts: until grass season arrives when things should improve

Alizé Molik
May 11th, 2009, 02:20 AM
take heart, Marion knows that it isn't the end of the world if she doesn't win many matches on clay, i'm sure her and doctor b are very pleased with how she's played this clay season!

May 11th, 2009, 07:49 AM
The problem is, she has triple 5 in her ranking as she scored bad results at the last mandatory events.

c'est la vie bartoli quoi, y'a pas de raison pour ses résultats moins qu'illustre..

Let's hope for the best in the upcoming French Open.

hehe my video is on your link:drool::bounce:

Novak Djokovic said the Madrid courts were unnaturally slow so that couldve contributed to Marions loss. Hopefully they will be a bit faster in Paris.

May 18th, 2009, 08:34 PM
Bartoli lost in first round at ROland Garros last year :O what a surprise! this could be much more better, no doubt.
