We are going to be 1 month without Ana.. so I thought we could play a game. Everyone who feels like playing can try to predict a bit of how Ana's season will shape up to be. The deadline for this thread will be the start of the Fed Cup matches in April. At the end of the season, we will see who got the most answers right. The prize will be a fistpumping vídeo of Ana. Or something better that I might think of..

Hey Jelena, you don't like me anymore? :sobbing:

You do know that Ana only earned 2.8 millions last year.. and that was winning a slam and making a slam final.
I voted 1-2 million, but I just realised something. :tape:

Larry Scott's roadmap significantly increased prize money, didn't it? Ana doesn't need to do nearly as much to earn the same amount of money.

Can I change vote?

Jelenacg is just like Ana.. :hug:First of all, you're insane...but in a GOOD way:angel:.If you'd like to add a true up-for-grabs question #11(since you skipped the REAL one),you can ask:How many times will Ana be linked with either an ATP player or other male celebrity(in whom she pro'bly has NO interest)...and then get hassled with stupid questions about that during her open interview sessions?

A.5 or less...hell will freeze over and the media will show more self-control than a crackhead, waiting patiently for Ana to reveal her personal plans
B.6-15...The press'll run out of bul--hit once in a while and hit Ana with these questions once or twice per month
C.16-50...A plague of Yellow Journalism Fever will spread worldwide and Ana'll get bombarded with idiotic rumors every time she gets within the same zip code as a non-ugly guy who happens to know her first and last name
D.51-200...An evil scientist takes a lock of Ana's hair and clones a trampy version of her who goes swinging with playboys who think they're with the REAL Ana...and our gal is forced to answer for it until the scheme has been revealed:eek::eek::eek:

I voted 1-2 million, but I just realised something. :tape:

Larry Scott's roadmap significantly increased prize money, didn't it? Ana doesn't need to do nearly as much to earn the same amount of money.

Can I change vote?

Ok, you can change. The deadline is april, before the Fed Cup matches.. so it's ok to change before that. Edit your own post, since I'll be counting only after the deadline. ;)

3 - When will Ana qualify for the YEC?

A - September
B - October
C - She won't qualify to the YEC this season.

Ana needs to start playing better and getting some wins, otherwise it will be very hard for her to catch the people that are ahead of her in the YEC race. She will be no better than 11 next week and miles behind the top 8.

I think as of now YEC is very far... we should take it a little bit at a time, for now Ana needs a reasonable showing at RG (like holding to her seed whatever that will be would be great)and then to win a tournament somewhere in the summer:o

You are right... but look at this:

Question: What are your goals for 2009?

Answer: The most important thing is to keep improving and learning from each experience. I want to be more consistent this year, because last year I had some great results and others were not so much. I do not think too much about the rankings, but qualify for the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha is very important and I think I can win another Grand Slam.

I think they review the players status right before Wimbledon.

Anyway... Ana hates mickey mouse tournaments.. she likes to lose in the third round of the big ones.. :sobbing:

If you look at the WTA web you can see that Ana is the player in the top 30 who has played the least ammount of tournaments. She has played less than Venus and Serena.. :sobbing: And it's not like she is winning a lot of matches to justifie that aproach. :o

I didn't know that... it may be good if she goes out of the top 10 before Wimbledon, so she can play those tournaments or not get fined for withdrawals of the big ones.

Ana played 6 tournaments so far, and most of them she bowed out early so she has few matches under her belt:o

We were all so positive.. :sobbing:

I think I'm going to add a couple of questions:

1 - How long do you think Kardon will be Ana's coach?

A - Until the US Open.
B - Until the end of the year, being fired since Ana won't reach the YEC.
C - Until the AO 2009.
D - Forever, since Ana loves him.

2 - Will Ana ever snap out of this slump? When?

A - Yes. The one year cycle of bad results is over. She will start to get better now.
B - Yes. Next year will be better.
C - No. She will have a Bartoli like career from now on.
D - No. It's all downhill... can't really see a way out.

3 - Ana has no points to defend now.. We have been adjusting our expectations. When will be our next big disappointment?

A - Ana will lose in the first round of a slam for the first time.
B - Ana will lose to an italian for the first time.
C - Ana will suck her way out of the top 20.
D - Ana will go titleless in a year for the first time in her career.

A new question - Will Ana play doubles this year?

gaviotabr
Jun 16th, 2009, 02:08 AM
I think we should all forget about the initial questions.. they were all too positive for our current reality. New questions to go with new Ana:

1 - What's Ana's next low point is going to be:

A - Losing in the first round of Wimbledon.
B - Choking from 5-0 up.
C - Losing after having 5 MPs.
D - Saying that she played well and is exciting after being double bageled.

2 - Ana said she is looking for a new full time coach. How long will she take to hire one?

A - 1 month... she will have him/her by the hard court season.
B - 2-3 months.. she will get one by the US Open.
C - C'mon! Ana will rock Wimbledon and give all the credit to the Adidas team, thus staying with them.
D - She won't hire anyone.. and if she does she will fire him after a week.

3 - Ana has lost her las 6 matches against top 10 players. How long will this streak go until she manages a top 10 win(retirement doesn't count/gets it right the one who comes closer to the number)?

A - It will take 15 matches.
B - It will take 10 matches.
C - It will take on forever...
D - Let's no panic! It's only a moment.. Ana will beat the next top ten player she faces.

4 - Ana has always won a title in a season, ever since her first full year on tour. But she took 20 months from her first title in Canberra (January 2005) to her second in Montreal (August 2006). Ana's last title was Linz. When is she going to win another, if ever?

A - Ana will never win another title... :o
B - She will win Wimbledon! woohooo
C - It will take some months, but she will definitely win one this season.
D - Maybe in 2010.

5 - Ana used to have a great 3 sets record, even winning 21 out of 25 3 setters from may 207 to june 2008. In the past year, though, she has won only 5 out of 16, with one of these wins coming in Fed Cup. Out of those 5, only one was a come from behind win: against Vinci in Brisbane. Out of the 9 she lost, in only 1 she won the first set (against Cibulkova in Moscow, wasting MPs). When is Ana's next come from behind 3 set win going to come?

A - Ana has developed a mental block in 3 set matches and will always choke them away.
B - It will take time.. maybe next season.
C - I'm sure by the time the US Open rolls around she will have beaten someone in 3 sets..
D - She will do it in Wimbledon, against Venus Williams in the 4th round!

6 - Ana has never lost against an italian. But since each tournament we have a new low, the italians should be praying to get Ana in a draw to break the record. Who will be the first italian to take advantage of Ana's choking habilities?

A - Flávia Pennetta.
B - Francesca Schiavonne.
C - Sara Errani.
D - Roberta Vinci.
E - No... it will be Maria Elena Camerin in the first round of the US Open, as predicted by Ben.. Duh..

7 - Ana always says she has learned from her losses, that she is on the right path now. How many times will she repeat this until she has actually learned and she is actually on the right path?

A - I believe her.. she has learned and is on the right path. Ajde!
B - It will take some time.. but I'm sure by next season she will be stronger.
C - As Taylor Swift would sing to Joe Jonas: Forever and Always...
D - 567 times. And that's the right number!

8 - Ana has been letting out some excuses after patetic losses.. like.. "I saw 2 balls" or "I got away from my game plan"... Which one is the most non-sense clasical ever?

A - "I got dizzy and saw 2 balls."
B - "I got away from my game plan and didn't realise it during the match."
C - "I felt old (that was after the A-Rad Rome match )."
D - "She played really well, I also played well.. but relaxed a bit after being a double break up.. and then she didn't give me chances."

9 - Ana said early this season that her main goal was to make the YEC. That seems like almost unreacheble now, with her current form, choking habilities e play suckage. Will Ana ever play the YEC again?

A - Yes! She will surprise everyone, win every tournament in the summer and reach the YEC this season!
B - I'm sure by next season she will have enough results to qualify.
C - Never..
D - At best, she will be an alternate in the next few years...

10 - Since the first questions were done in march, Ana has played 3 tournaments and lost early in every single one. Her results this year are: QF-3rd-QF-F-3rd-3rd-4rd-1rd. She has 5 early losses out of 8 tournaments. If Ana doesn't change her schedule, she will play another 7 tournaments this year. How many early losses will she have?

A - Obviously 7..
B - 5/6
C - 3/4
D - 2/1
E - None! Ana will get her head together like a magic trick.

11 - Ever since Ana got to number 1 she started this slump. Many of us believed pressure could have been one of the reasons. We have since believed she would be better once she was not number 1 anymore, not top 5 anymore, not top 10 anymore, not defending a slam anymore, not defending any points anymore. But Ana keeps on losing... What's the next pressure element Ana will lose?

A - She will be out of the top 20 by Indian Wells next year.
B - She will lose all her sponsors..
C - She will have no points to defend like.. ever..
D - Pressure has nothing to do with the current state of her slump.

12 - Ana has been falling down the rankings faster than a race car. To think that just one year ago she was number 1 is almost unbelieveble. How low will her ranking sink?

1 - Out of the top 50, Vaidisova style.
2 - Out of the top 20..
3 - She will be unseeded in a slam next year.
4 - Ana will sudenly get her head together and move back into the top 10.

D - She will do it in Wimbledon, against Venus Williams in the 4th round!:lol::lol::lol:

really:eek: ok then she WON'T go out of top 20 believe me, ok she choked awfully but still had a top 10 player in the first round... i just hope she will enter more tournaments, quality isn't there, just get quantity then... but with the roadmap i don't know if she's allowed... if i was, i would play like every international in site:o

Without Linz and YEC she would be 25.

I think she will be allowed to enter smaller tournaments after Wimbledon. But we all know how Ana hates Mickey mouse tournaments.. :o She will probably just keep choking matches away in the big ones. Come august, Ana will probably only have played about 12 matches in 5 months! ugh :o No wonder she is not match tough..

and she will say she's so tired and played so much, and worked so hard... then she will go shopping or tanning in Maiorca... I wonder if all Ana wanted was money at this point, since she made the big buck she's totally different, no fight, not caring, nothing, but she keeps talking about sightseeing, fashion:o

I don't know.. I used to think Ana is ambitious about her tennis.. and she does want to get out of this badly... she just has a sucky support team, and hasn't really acknowledged her issues with her mental game. Until she faces the fact that she has become a choker and that she needs to do something about it, she will continue having all the meltdowns.. But I do think she wants to improve.

another post-match explanation that i think was an excuse:

after her Montreal loss against Paszek, she said Paszek in the third set noticed that Ana couldn't hit her forehand and started playing on it... it didn't look like that to me, Ana played good forehands in the second set and in the third i remember paszek was hitting mostly on her BH... i remember i thought i was so poor at tennis because i noticed the opposite of what Ana was saying... now looking back, that was just a typical post RG2008 Ana:o

4 - Ana will sudenly get her head together and move back into the top 10.

and she will say she's so tired and played so much, and worked so hard... then she will go shopping or tanning in Maiorca... I wonder if all Ana wanted was money at this point, since she made the big buck she's totally different, no fight, not caring, nothing, but she keeps talking about sightseeing, fashion:o

I would disagree on this.I always had an impression that she doesn`t like that much those photoshoots and all these media attention.I mean she goes to Serbia and spends her free attending basketball game .I could find probably a million other things for a girl her age to do than watching basketaball match
Look at JJ,that is a person who really enjoys media attention(btw i don`t think it`s wrong),Ana not so much. But i must admit that her team is doing that part of their job great  She is marketable and they are using it.That is not wrong since she cant play tennis forever and they should use this time to make as much money as they can
But maybe just for now they should give her a break with those things
And about her ambitions in tennis,i think that is one thing she will never miss.I never had an impression that she wanted to be somewhere else while playing a match, and i saw that in many other players
But this is just my opinion,i could be wrong

2- Ana won't win a slam this year (US Open is:o)

We should hope she'll win a title, if she keeps that form from W (before the 4th round:o) I think she can win a title on hard if she continues to improve:o

Now is so easy to predict this season till end

Ana Career so far:
2003<2004<2005<2006<2007<2008

Ana won GS in 2008, so she will win US Open 2009.
Ana was GS runnerup in 2008 and now is too late for that, so only similar achievement with Grand Slam final is to win YEC Doha 2009.
Ana won Indian Wells super-tier-I in 2008 so she will win Montreal or Beijing Premier Mandatory.

^^^ all that is "sure bet" predictions (is anybody doubt in 2008<2009 case?), but I have no idea right now with which title Ana will overtake her Linz/08 tier-II title

C - She won't qualify to the YEC this season.

4 - Will Ana win a Slam this season?

A - Yes! :worship:
B - No...

5 - Will Ana really learn from her mistakes and change?

A - Yes, she will finally learn and improve.
B - No, but she will keep saying that she has learned.
C - No, and she will finally admit it.

6 - How much money will Ana make this season?

A - Less than 1 million. OMG, less then 1 million.. with all the increased price money! :tape:
B - Between 1 and 2 millions.
C - Between 2 and 3 millions.
D - More than 3 millions.

7 - Will Ana be a top 8 seed for Wimbledon?

A - Sure. She will collect enough points during the clay season.
B - I hope so, but not very confident.
C - No, she will bomb out early in the clay tournaments...
D - No, even though she will play ok on clay.
E - She won't even be top 10.

8 - If you are confident that Ana will win a title this season, then how many will she win? None!

A - 1
B - 2
C - 3
D - 4
E - More than 4.. she will suddenly dominate tennis.

9 - Ana has already played 5 tournaments. According to her schedule, she will play 12 more, including the YEC, though this one depends on qualification. How many early exits will Ana have from now until the end of the season?

A - 1/2
B - 3/4
C - 5/6
D - 7/8
E - 9-12
F - None.. she will suddenly be the most consistent player on tour, making quarter finals or better in the next 12 tournaments.

Ana hasn't been able to get past the 3rd round in her last 3 slams. Predict how she will do in the next 3 slams:

10 - The French Open.

A - Early loss... 1st to 3rd round.
B - Will barely reach second week. 4th round.
C - Might make the quarters.
D - Will stop in the semis.
E - She will go all the way to the final.
F - Duh.. She will finally defend a title.

12 - Wimbledon.

A - Early loss... 1st to 3rd round.
B - Will barely reach second week. 4th round.
C - Might make the quarters.
D - Will stop in the semis.
E - She will go all the way to the final.
F - Ana will serve and volley her way to the Wimbledon title.

13 - US Open.

A - Early loss... 1st to 3rd round.
B - Will barely reach second week. 4th round.
C - Ana will finally reach the quarters in NY.
D - Will stop in the semis.
E - She will go all the way to the final.
F - Ana will take NY by storm and win the title.

14 - Ana had 14 top ten wins in 2007 and 7 in 2008. How many top 10 wins will Ana have in 2009? None..

A - Less than 5.
B - 5-7.
C - 7-10.
D - 10-14.
E - Ana will beat everyone in the top 10 and break her own record. More than 15 wins.

15 - Last, but not least, predict Ana's season ending ranking:

A - Ana will get into an amazing form, beating everyone and winning everything to finish the year as the number 1 player in the world. I didn't even put the out of top 20 option!

B - Top 3.
C - Top 5.
D - Top 8.
E - Top 10.
F - Ana will suck her way out of the top 10.

More questions, more sad answers:

We were all so positive.. :sobbing:

I think I'm going to add a couple of questions:

1 - How long do you think Kardon will be Ana's coach? Him being fired was such a surprise, I didn't have an option for it. It was actually before Wimbledon.

A - Until the US Open.
B - Until the end of the year, being fired since Ana won't reach the YEC.
C - Until the AO 2009.
D - Forever, since Ana loves him.

2 - Will Ana ever snap out of this slump? When? I guess this is yet to be known.. Option A is out of the question though..

We have 3 correct answers! We could have a 4th one, but Ana withdrew in Beijing avoiding a posible loss to Errani. :tape:

A - Ana will lose in the first round of a slam for the first time.
B - Ana will lose to an italian for the first time.
C - Ana will suck her way out of the top 20.
D - Ana will go titleless in a year for the first time in her career.

gaviotabr
Oct 4th, 2009, 01:15 PM
And more:

I think we should all forget about the initial questions.. they were all too positive for our current reality. New questions to go with new Ana:

1 - What's Ana's next low point is going to be: Okay, this question was a bit harsh, but Ana did lose in the first round of a slam, only it was the USO, not Wimbledon.

A - Losing in the first round of Wimbledon.
B - Choking from 5-0 up.
C - Losing after having 5 MPs.
D - Saying that she played well and is exciting after being double bageled.

2 - Ana said she is looking for a new full time coach. How long will she take to hire one? I guess we are not sure yet.. but A, B, and C are out of the question.

Still open, she is currently on a 7 match loss streak against top 10 players.

Not yet..

How many times will she repeat this until she has actually learned and she is actually on the right path? mm.. Open and counting..

This one doesn't have a right answer..

To be seen.. not this year..

Actually, not by IW, but by the end of the season.

Yet to be seen, but very posible, considering she has around 1300 out of 2000 points to defend until march.
4 - Ana will sudenly get her head together and move back into the top 10.

We were all so far off in our predictions.

Not even the worst ones got things right.. :sobbing:Not entirely true....Though I didn't make it in this particular thread,I predicted in fall 2008 that Ana would become another Andrea Jaeger-type---or worse,Capriati-type(the jury's still out on that,IMO,I'm afraid;Ana has reached new depths:sad:)---burnout if she didn't seek some sort of counselling, and she's WELL on her way to fulfilling that:help:.Here are a couple more you can BANK on although, like the original one,I pray that they DON'T happen:

1.Ana will continue to exaggerate minor injuries into major ones,a` la Wimbledon, both to offer excuses for losses and to avoid playing the sport that she now hates:sad:
2.The only consistent 'physical training' she'll do for the 2010 AO will involve "moving heavy bedroom furniture"...with a few practices sprinkled in for the cameras in order to keep up the pretense
3.Unless she seeks some counselling,Ana will be JUST as unmotivated at the start of 2010 as she was during her post-Wimbledon,Scotland vacation.
4.On an extracurricular level,Ana's probably QUITE content with a relationship that involves sporadic trysts with no firm commitment from either party...but,if the "storybook romance" happens to fall apart, her next bf will also be a shallow, deadbeat(likely dope-smoking,coke-sniffing),pretty boy-type who does ZERO for her confidence/self-esteem and offers absolutely NOTHING to help her get herself on track. This was an unexpected surprise--even for Ana,I'll bet--that Nando provided:He was consistently there and,for a brief period...Beijing/Zurich/Linz/flu-plagued YEC...she actually looked like Ana again

Like I said,I hope Ana disproves ALL of these, but I seriously doubt it:help::help::help:

6 are quite a lot... She will play 5 tournaments until then, and she won't be seeded for Miami, Rome and Madrid... so she has chances of getting a top 10 player in the first round. I think she will have a couple of first round losses... so I say 4 wins.

Anyone care to predict 2011?I predict that Ana,if physically healthy, will start 2011 MUCh better than she did 2009 or '10 but, regardless of how well she does,YOU will still be a belleza hiperanalitica:p

For 2011, well I'll answer that after the season ends but I am certain it will be a lot more than she had in 2010. :)

The sad thing is that even after that amaze year I predicted she would still have fewer Slams than Justine, and fewer titles than Kim. :o
