Is there any "Tommy Haas" on WTA? frenchie Mar 22nd, 2009, 08:01 PM worse is definitely Safina She was horrible at Charleston 2007 final, USO 2008 SF and all her Doha matches last year Adal Mar 22nd, 2009, 08:02 PM Maria Sharapova seems to handle the wind surprisingly well :speakles: 2006 IW final, Doha 2008. Although sometimes she'll play well, just to keep all her fans completely :weirdo: timafi Mar 22nd, 2009, 10:21 PM Amelie and wind:sobbing::sobbing::sobbing: jamatthews Mar 22nd, 2009, 10:21 PM I think Mauresmo's pretty poor isn't she? Poor Amelie... :sobbing: Its true tho, she falls apart in the wind. Cant actually think of too many players that 'like' to play in the wind... why would they?! lol LUXXXAS Mar 22nd, 2009, 10:51 PM Safina is the worst :help: Charleston 2007 final :spit: colt13 Mar 22nd, 2009, 10:54 PM Sveta misses more overheads in the wind than anybody. frenchie Mar 22nd, 2009, 11:03 PM Serena is pretty good in the wind I guess it's because she practices a lot in Miami She tends to play a more conservative tennis in the wind Sylvester Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:21 AM Cant actually think of too many players that 'like' to play in the wind... why would they?! lol The typical defensive players who get fed by the errors of her opponents must love to play with wind. I can imagine Peer praying for tropical storms everytime she faces Safina, for example! frenchie Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:27 AM The typical defensive players who get fed by the errors of her opponents must love to play with wind. I can imagine Peer praying for tropical storms everytime she faces Safina, for example! Shahar didn't need the wind to beat Safina 3 times last year:rolleyes: jamatthews Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:27 AM I can imagine Peer praying for tropical storms everytime she faces Safina, for example! I was going to say Shahar doesn't need the wind, but I didn't realise Safina was 3-0 against her before she became Peer's bitch last year.:help: Sylvester Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:31 AM Shahar didn't need the wind to beat Safina 3 times last year:rolleyes: I know! :p I gave that example exactly because of that. Still, Safina on grass is pretty :help: Sylvester Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:33 AM I was going to say Shahar doesn't need the wind, but I didn't realise Safina was 3-0 against her before she became Peer's bitch last year.:help: The three matches where Peer won were so funny! Gold Coast: Safina had *5-4 40-0 on the 3rd set Fed Cup: Safina lost after having won the first set by 6-0 Wimbledon: Safina wasted several match points and was up 5-3 on the 3rd set skanky~skanketta Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:43 AM Clijsters was pretty good in the wind. faboozadoo15 Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:56 AM Maria Sharapova seems to handle the wind surprisingly well :speakles: 2006 IW final, Doha 2008. Not against Kim. :tape: Didn't Kim moonball a win out of Pova in Miami? But yes, she does well in the wind. She has good footwork. faboozadoo15 Mar 23rd, 2009, 01:00 AM Also, Svetlana only wins titles outdoors on windy days. Hence the drought. madlove Mar 23rd, 2009, 01:59 AM hingis was great with the wind partbrit Mar 23rd, 2009, 02:09 AM Dinara cannot stand to play in the wind, as others have mentioned. When she played Jankovic in the 2007 Charleston final, it was in post-tornado wind that was constantly changing direction. JJ handled that better than I've ever seen a play handle very unpredictable and high winds. Ryan Mar 23rd, 2009, 02:29 AM Wasn't Lindsay really great in the wind? I always thought her heavy groundstrokes and serve helped her out, plus her simple swings. Or I'm crazy. sammy01 Mar 23rd, 2009, 10:38 AM Wasn't Lindsay really great in the wind? I always thought her heavy groundstrokes and serve helped her out, plus her simple swings. Or I'm crazy. you're crazy. anna kournikova just sent davenport crazy in the wind in miami in '98, she kept drop shoting and throwing up lobs and daveport was all over the place trying to get a solid trike of 'soft' balls from anna that the wind would get hold of. it was just a case of anna playing the best tactics for the conditions, most players nowadays wouldn't have a clue how to do this. pollison Mar 23rd, 2009, 10:49 AM Safina is probably the worst, her high ball toss and erratic play can lead to a plethora of errors. Ana is pretty bad i think and Good players are hingis and kim i remember being strong | |
