Okey,I think I successfully made a ppll.:D

The two players have the very potential to win the FO, and they fully deserve this, but for some certain reasons, they are still striving for this, what do you think about?:D

The only reason Roger don't win FO is because Rafa always stands on his way. 3 finals?
Venus on the other hand, have more than just one player to contend to and there are a lot better clay court women players on the field.

True, but Nadal is a much bigger obstacle for Federer to overcome to win RG then any of the girls are to Venus.

Seriously who are better than Venus?...
who has a better Clay court percentage than Venus?
who has won more clay titles than Venus....

other than Roland Garros n Berlin(which Venus has reached the finals for both)
she has won all the tournaments in that following week after Miami!!
no one has done that...

Venus Williams+Clay is really underrated!!

Venus Acapulco ring a bell??

I would bet my money on Serena, Dementieva, Ivanovic, Jankovic, Safina anytime on red clay versus Venus.

where has she been the last 6-7 years Year Ending Championship...

where was Dinara before Berlin?
Dementieva appears and disappears...
what was Ivanovics clay results other than Roland Garros.

anytime on Red Clay??
they should have played during the Acapulco Final vs Jankovic form right now.

We are talking about Roland Garros therefore it should be rolland garros as our point of reference and not acapulco or even any tier1 red clay. Grandslam is always different and I'm talking big difference even if they have the same surface.

Saying player A is generally better than player B on clay court does't mean player A can definitely win a specific event,It's sure Venus is better than other girls on clay court, but, she won't necessarily win FO,probably when she is lucky enough next time:shrug:

Nobody even comes close to posing a threat to her the way Nadal does to Federer.

It is true that Nadal is the only real obstacle to Federer winning Roland Garros much in the same way as it is true that the Atlantic Ocean is the only real obstacle to someone driving by car from London to New York. Basically as obstacles go, they don't get much more imposing than Nadal at Roland Garros.

Venus's main obstacle to winning RG isn't actually any player but her age of 28. Roland Garros is the toughest slam to win for an older player and it is rare to see someone over 28 win it. Rarer still for a player over 30. In short Venus doesn't have a lot of time. Still while I don't fancy Venus's chances at least they are better than Federer's whose chances, primarily due to one clay-loving Spaniard, are practically nonexistent.

good point, but Federer as I think only lack confidence vs Nadal in the last 3 RG finals they have been. He is so close to winning it and the score suggested it too.

Venus. Federer can barely solve Nadal off clay, yet alone on Nadals best surface.
Venus can play on clay if she keeps her head on straight. Despite Serena winning the French, I think Venus is the better clay courter.

What score are you talking about? Roger is farther away from winning RG this year than last year. Didn't RF just win 3 or 4 games against Nadal in RG? How is that a close score line? This year I don't even think RF is going to reach the final. Venus has a higher probability to reach the final than RF. Since JH retired, RG will be up for grabs for the next few years until someone starts dominating the FO again.

3 finals
1-6 6-1 6-4 7-6(7-4) --- 2006 mens final-
3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 ----- 2007 mens final-
2208 is total domination of nadal.

Federer has a Nadal problem in Paris.

This thread has made me wish there was a TENNIS forum. Not just one that is stupidly named Tennis Forum and yet is only for discussion of womens tennis.

There should be a forum where both tours can be discussed side by side. You could have a GM and then have an ATP GM and WTA GM. :D

I was just watching a Nadal-Federer and Davydenko-Hewitt clip, its too bad that the women can't play that well.

Anyway, Nadal is more likely to get injured to allow Federer to waltz to the title, then Venus is to stay inury free, get the right draw, not have her game fall apart and be consistent enough to hold up the trophy.

Although I am a huge Venus fan I never really expect her to win the French...... and if she does it could even hurt her Wimbledon chances!

Having said that, if Venus were to make the 4th round or better at the French, I would ALWAYS back her to beat the likes of Safina/Dementieva/Ivanovic etc etc..... I mean only a mad man would bet against Venus to win a big match, unless maybe she was playing Serena.

Venus' main problem is getting caught out in the early rounds at the Aussie & French Opens...... I don't know why but she is never as switched *on* as she is at Wimbledon or the US....... but if she could make it to the quarters she would stand a better chance than most.

Federer could win it if Nadal picks up an injury or something. Djokovic has gone backwards over the last 6 months and Murray is no clay court specialist, so really only Nadal or a freak performance from another player could stop Federer this year.

This is a flawed analysis. Venus is 2-4 in QFs at the AO, she is 1-4 in QFs at the FO. She has problems at every stage of the tournament, with various potential opponents. I mean Vaidisova  Myskina

I would really love to see her win both these tournaments some day; however the road will be long and hard.

Vee ... well other then herself (because quite frankly she coulda have this title already :o ) she has more competition here then Roger

with all that said i think Roger can get lucky while facing Nadal (may the Lord forbid) and swipe this one first but i truly hope that Vee does it, when? it doesn't matter she just needs to get this one

Federer, never. Nadal= too good. Plus, Murray will develop his clay court game and continue his ownage over Federer :hearts:

Venus plays too many error stricken at RG, and most of the time against opponents she simpy can't afford to:
.04-40+ against Myskina
.05- I didn't see the match. Apparently she was awful against Sesil K.
.06- 70 against Vaidisova :help:

But I feel this year RG is even more open than last year. If she plays like she did in that final against Pennetta the other week, it's possible she can win, but I doubt this will happen.
