Bottom half of the draw has opened up nicely for Ana as the major players has been eliminated. Ana will have an easier time on Thursday then she had against Flavia. Ana in 2.

If Sybille plays like she did in the last 3 rounds she will be able to give Ivanovic some trouble.

They played 3 times already, Ivanovic leads 2-1. Except the last match (6-2 6-4 in Linz for Ana) all matches went to three sets. Ivanovic doesn´t like Sybille´s game, so there is hope for Bam Bam to reach the Semis :D

Ana should win this, she played quite well yesterday. Her forehand was working quite good (though not as good as it is capable of)

Ana is gradually getting her game back. But really honestly don't see her beating Bammer right now. Bammer has played the best tennis of anyone in the bottom half of the draw and I think she is the more likely winner. Bammer, playing well is quite a formidable player. She has beaten Ana, Jelena and several other very good players in Indian Wells in the past and looks capable of doing it again. Ana against Flavia was barely winning half her points on serve, that won't cut it against Sybille. Ana is going to have to raise her game substantially to survive. It might happen, it's true Ana at her best > Sybille at her best, but my guess is Sybille in 2.

Sybille beat Ana here two years ago and like Chris I'm not ruling out her chances of repeating that victory at all.

I just hope it's a good match between two of my faves, but of course I will be rooting for Ana!

Tough, tough match for Ana. She's steadily playing better, but her form is still relatively patchy. Bamnmer is an opponent who forces you to play your best, or something close to it anyway. She can change up the pace on her groundstrokes, and her court-positioning isn't very interchangable. She holds her ground well.

That said if Ana can pull out her best tennis, then she'll win in 2, because she has the firepower off the forehand to start moving Bammer around. If not then Ana in 3, but probably Bammer in 3.

Good match to look forward to:)

I can't remember offhand what happened at Linz or what I predicted but I assume from this post that I got it wrong. It wouldn't be the 1st time and I'm sure I will get it wrong plenty more times in the future too. That is the nature of predicting tennis matches. I get it right sometimes too.

But yeah, sure, Ana can beat Sybille tomorrow. I just don't think she will. I might be wrong.

Ana won title in Linz beating Bammer,Pennetta, Radwanska, and Zvonareva

Ana is the best player left in the draw, Sybille is the worst one. Ana will win.

Only an accident could prevent Ana from defending her title.

I think I'm realistic.
I don't even like Ana but she's slowly getting back on track and I don't see who can stop her at IW now that she has made it to QF.

I'm optimistic before tomorrows match. Of course it's very easy to find some stats in favor of ex WTA#1 against almost 30yo mom which career high is #19, but I think this facts is very relevant about tomorrows result:

- Ana during her career (even since reach TOP5) has several loses against much worse players than Bammer, but when she once reach QF round at bigger events (with over 600.000$ Money Prize), Elena Dementieva is only player which never reach TOP3 which beat her! Indian Wells are really big event (4.5M$ Premier Mandatory) and Bammer profile and bio is not even close with players which beat Ana in past at non-Mickey Mouse QF's. Since beat Lilia Osterloh (out of TOP100 at that event) in Stanford 2007 QF, Bammer is in 5 Quarterfinals losing strike.
- So far Ana reach careers 11 finals and in all 11 cases she lose at least one set before final match! So yesterdays really bad performance in middle of the match vs Flavia is not reason for big warning at all. It's simple not Ana style to have perfect tournament without at least one mini-choke (with comeback) during some of her matches. For example when she won last year IW in same R16 round she drop set against another solid Italian player (Schiavone), but in QF-SF-F she won Zvonareva, Jankovic and Kuznetsova all in straight sets.
- In middle of yesterdays match Ana serve is totally collapsed and she lose 5 serve games in the row, but despite all that ball tosses her serve works very well in Dubai, BJK cup and previous IW matches, so no proofs that this serve disaster from middle of yesterday match will comes back to Ana tomorrow against Bammer.
- People notice that Ana is only slam winner, IW winner or ex #1 player in IW/09 quarters, but she is actually only player out of last 8 which ever won any two-weekers or tournament with 1.5M$+ Money Prize and only Safina also won some 1M$+ event before (ex-Tier-I events) and also Zvonareva is 3rd which reach some final like that. For other three players from Ana half playing QF at such big event is really rare situation - but for Ivanovic it will be 3rd QF in last 4 years only here at Indian Wells!

Bammer has some chances, but her eventual win will be really big and shocking surprise.

Bammer isn't scared of Ana, unlike many others - she has played to a much higher standard so far, and Ana will more than likely get too frustrated or excited and the errors will fly. I can't wait to see Sybille attacking Ana's serve aswell. Sybille is far more consistent and is also playing confidently, I can see her winning in straight sets. :bounce:

I think Bammer unless Ivanovic really gets her game back on track. she's playing better but still a bit all over the shop and Bammer tends to be very steady when she's in good form.

Ana was playing horrible tennis in Berlin last year and still beat Bammer in three sets. Granted, this match is on a different surface, but I suspect she'll be able to fight her way through if her level dips a bit.

Poor Sybille, that is a very unfortunate thing to happen to her when she was in such great form.

Well judging from what I just saw from Nastya Pavlyuchenkova, I would say Ana's chances of getting to the final are now something in the region of 98%.
