Really seemed to struggle in that 2nd set. She was down 1-3.
Might face Safina now.

I wouldn't have minded a drubbing, but this will do.

Vika :D But she seems to struggle a lot so far, so it's good to see she performed up to her seeding :)

don't like the stats in the 2nd set. Won less than 50 percent of her own serve. Needs to step it up. Good luck in the QF Vika.

Bad serving day Shahar, but encouraging scoreline. On to Miami!
Congrats Vika, go all the way now :)

Solid win.

exactly , not quite what you predicted: "a murder", in fact this match wasn't televised, but from watching the scoreboard , the only difference between these 2 was the serve and nothing else, every time Vika served she had a few easy points, Peer had none on her serve, it was remarkable how she made it so close with such a bad serving. :wavey:

Sad, but not surprising. Shahar did much more damage in her return games than expected but really struggled to hold her own serve.
Great tournament Shahar :worship: Please prove it to be a real comeback and not a fluke in the middle of nowhere like Wimbledon.

Vika, win your next 3 matches too :)

Still, Shahar impressed me at Indian Wells. Such a good scoreline against Azarenka who of all the players seems to be the one on fire right now. And Shahar played well in all her matches here. Might be an indication she is back to a steady form.

Maybe I'll come around to Shahar. I like her consistency. And she's young. So who knows.

I don't understand your vituperative reaction. There is absolutely no need to bring inflammatory language like this to the forum.

Malva, I like you a lot and you're a smart poster, i happen to be really involved in the Peer's Dubai affair's threads and that poster was extremely rude not only towards Peer but to my country in general and reading that she wanted a "drubbing" of Peer made me upset because I know her real motives.

Bosco123

Yes, I am pro-Palestine. And yes, I find Peer obnoxious. No, I don't think the two things are completely unrelated.

Obziler's alright..

well that's nice to hear.

And if she learns how to be a decent sport in Davis Cup ties.:.

Peer got a lot of criticism in Israel for her behaviour in federation cup against Russia, believe me this behaviour will never happen again and I can guarantee that that crowd behaviour will never be repeated as well.
Also, yeah, I like Shahar's consistency. And she's young. So who knows

I'm happy to know that you don't hate all Israelians and in fact I'm relieafed.

If you have only political critism towards my country but no hatred than that allright for me.

I'm not a fan of Peer, I'm skeptical regarding the whole Dubai debacle, and I'm pro-Palestine -- which doesn't mean being pro-bloodshed anymore than being pro-Israel does.

If I have to stoop this low, I have plenty of Jewish friends in day to day life (not tennis boards), some of whom aren't exactly pro-Israel when it comes to political matters. Things aren't so black and white. (Adding to the absurdity: the person in my avatar is a Jewish character actress. She might be vehemently pro-Israel for all I know! And that's cool, she's amazing.)

On those never-ending Dubai threads, when someone said something I considered ignorant, I might have pointed it out. But I tried to avoid any kind of insult, even when people were insulting my point of view. Go back and look. :)

Anyway, I know how it feels to get pissed when a fave is flat-out insulted. So my apologies.

I admit, I am not aware of all that was happening in the Pe'er/Dubai thread. But seeing such a strong language in the forum simply is pain to watch. I wish you edit your post and find a more balanced way to express your displeasure.

In tennis matters I normally find Sally Todd's posts to be even-handed and displaying good will.

well, if I edit my original post others readers of this thread won't understand the responses that followed my response, so for the time beings I won't edit, but following Sally Todd response , I will have a respect for her in the future.

No sweat, you were in your right to get heated.

Shahar has a lot more to deal with than other players. And in that she definitely has my sympathy.
