Does anyone know anything about it?? They must be doing it somewhere within a 125 mile radius from Indian Wells!
No one talked about it, IF they´re doing any! They give a shit about Indian Wells and Larry´s roadmap! :worship:
They can do whatever they want, since they´re the most talented players playing right now!

I dont know

Is there not a McDonalds within that 125 mile radius? Usually they go help out serving burgers and stuff, or they did when McDonalds paid them

There's probably a whole hospital full of sick children somewhere nearby that they can visit.

Or maybe they're at Palm Springs promoting IW to the people in the spa.

the tour needs to stand firm if it's gonna introduce such policies, otherwise these rules are gonna be useless, and new ones will be constantly added to accommodate the sisters.

I don't think the rules were properly instituted in the first place.
Maybe they need to revamp their rules.

Regardless, I'm glad Serena is doing what is best for her. If it means she has to promote an event then she will. I think she and Venus are capable of deciding what is best for them.

Larry Scott made a mockery of his own system when he added that "promotional" loophole. Venus and Serena never publicly stated that they would fight any disciplinary action taken against them for skipping Indian Wells, so Scott could have just left things the way they were.

There are only 3 women who would take the fine. So this rule is only there to force the Williams and Sharapova to play. The tour took a gamble and lost, so they have to pay the dealer and move on.:wavey: They eventually will have to change this dumbass rule anyway as it is draconian and it didn't get them the results they wanted, because there are no Williams and no Sharapova in singles so the rule is as tough as a cotton swab.:haha:

I don't expect we'll see any more promotional work from them related to this matter - particularly considering the tour needs them more than they need it ... and they all know that.

Actually I think Richard their father and coach stated that he would seek legal action if they tried to suspend Venus and Serena. Either way a sh^t storm would have followed. The way it has unfolded, not too much is being said about it. Which is best for all sides.

If they do anymore promotion, given the level of competition at IW, fans at IW might boo them , arguing the WS are trying to show off by out-shining IW and overshadowing the actual competition taking place.

Yeah, like Venus and Serena are going to overshadow Federer and Nadal.

I was at Indian Wells earlier this week. No one is talking about Venus and Serena. No one cares.

The crowds are huge. The facilities are even better than last year. And, Federer and Nadal are in the building.

The women's event suffered this year though with some near record low tocket sales and attendance. However, because it's a combined event, Indian Wells doesn't suffer at much. If Venus and Serena attended Indian Wells this year, the attendance and ticket sales would be up. They are the biggest draw in women's tennis. Live with it.

The crowd may be huge, but how many fans go see the women matches.
The women matches are not that well attended, many seats are empty.
I am talking about the WTA, not ATP.

Did you notice, rarely are women the matches shown on TV.

Get away with what, what crime have they committed? The have refused this event for 8 years they have seniority over this idiotic rule that would have been overturned in court if the tour had even tried to enforce it, which they never would have. This rule so many love is illegal.

This tired tournament does not even deserve the interest of Venus and Serena. I wouldnt promote anything for this tournament or pay not one RED CENT in penalties. LETS NOT FORGET WHAT HAPPENED http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMdE-T1_d5o this is unacceptable. I think its chessy for the WTA to institute rules to play in this tournament after this kind of treatment. I personally think they should have suspended this tournament for a year or two after they treated the Williams family with such hatred. I hope Venus and Serena stick to their guns...I would NEVER play on those courts again if I were them. If Indian wells is struggling to have top players such as venus and serena...its because they deserve it because of their shitty treatement towards their OWN AMERICAN GIRL! Some people may be dumb but they are not dumb asses (there is a difference). Not only does Indian wells need The Williams sisters..but the WTA need them..I doubt they will do anything to Venus and Serena to run them off.
