Two hours long match against Cetkovska. Um, ok.

She defended quite a few points. :bounce:

Yay!

If Elena cant win, I want it to be either Pennetta or Hanutchova. But seriously, only 3 career titles for Hanutchova? She needs a fourth badly.

i dont know what i would have done if it went to a 3rd set...such a long match but good win.

:worship: thank you dani for beating petra...i dont know what i would have done if i had to sit through another match where they bring up "the win over dementieva" :explode:

granted it was her biggest win...the 47 times they brought it up i had tears in my eyes.

congrats...first time past the 3rd round this year i think.

Bammer is next! Danka leads 2-1, by winning last meeting back in 2007 Rome R32: 6-1 6-2.

That'd be a very interesting stat for 3 of her 4 titles to be at IW

Good win for Dani :)

I don't care if it should have been easier or not. I didn't expect her to get this far so she has exceeded my expectations.

Good job :)

A typical nerve-fest from Daniela, but the win is most encouraging:D

As long as she keeps winning, a title shot is not unattainable. Her form is improving every tournament in my eyes anyway.

Gotta admit that it wasn't the greatest of matches, but at least some drama was involved, unlike in the last AO final for example.

Daniela played poor tennis. She tried just to win the point without using any power or angle. The match was bad, nothing special to see. Hope she will bring us something big against Bammer. Let's hope so.

Dani served like crap. She has a great serve but it didn't show up last night. Also play some cross court angles and then those down the lines. Dani needs to work her way into the net more often.

Anyway, she won but this Petra kid had no game. Dani had the tools to kick her ass in straight easy sets. get it together Dani!

she's playng so awful, she's getting through on pure grit and the fact that it's indian wells. she's not rallying, she's going for the lines way too soon, those drop shots were brutal, except for 2. she won't beat bammer playing like that, she needs to be alot more patient in rallies, i think she gets nervous when the point keeps going, i do like her forehands down the line though. serve needs improving, consitency. anyways that was a really boring match for me to watch except for the set point and match point.

Daniela won, but I agree with some. This was an just awful match. Neither player could sustain anything. Such poor play all around. AND it took so long! I was praying for it to end, even though at the beginning of the match, I was pleased that they were going to show it. (Ivanovic's match was almost as bad.) The bright side was Lindsay's commentary, and I suppose that ranking held. (The Fox Sports commentator sounds like Pat McEnroe on sleep drugs.)

This was an just awful match. I've seen higher quality of play, but I wouldn't call it 'awful'. The psychological battle was interesting. Daniella, the player with the superior game but fragile mind, playing Petra - the scrambler. Turned out to be pretty close. I was impressed with Petra and disappointed with the commentary. Petra's return of serve was fantastic, which the announcers NEVER mentioned. Time and again Daniella would place a first serve in a corner and Petra would make an amazing, fully extended, return. Another point the announcers missed was that Petra's first serve percentage was horrible. I believe Petra would have won this match if she could have gotten more first serves in.

Neither player could sustain anything. Such poor play all around. AND it took so long! It took long because it was a close match and because Daniella takes 5 minutes between every point. This match was much more interesting (to me) than Dulko-Ivanovic. The points could have been longer. Seemed to me that Petra was being rushed by the pace of Daniella's groundies, and therefore couldn't control her replies that well. Perhaps Petra's racket preparation is poor or she has slow hands. But she was struggling with Daniella's pace. This is another point the announcers should have made. Both announcers made the classic error of deferring too much to the more well know player. It's a form of discrimination. It was 'Daniella should do this', or 'Daniella shouldn't do that'. They were talking about 'Daniella' 90% of the time and 'Cetkovska' 10% of the time. That's another problem - don't call one player by her first name and the other by her last name. It's disrespectful. Didn't it occur to the announcers that some people might be watching the match because they had never seen Petra and wanted to know more about her?

The bright side was Lindsay's commentary Lindsay's commentary was a C. It's better than some, but it was not a 'bright side'. Since she is just starting out I'm not going to pass final judgement on her yet. Let's give her a chance to get some experience under her belt. Two things I liked about her: 1) she has a pleasant voice, and 2) she tries not to talk over the action. However, towards the end she did allow the other commentator to draw her into those gossipy conversations that have nothing to do with what's going on down on the court. She even did it a bit over the action. Lindsay's commentary sounds 'preachy' - like she's talking to children. She's got to work on speaking in a more natural manner. You can't talk down to the audience. It's insulting. Even viewers with no knowledge of tennis can tell she's talking down to them. She's got to get over that.

BTW - the other commentator should be shot. He's absolutely horrible. He has no interest in tennis and has no clue why the viewers are watching the match. His contributions to the telecast were totally negative and distracting.

Overall, I'd have to say that the commentary by The Tennis Channel over the weekend was better than what FSN gave us. FSN has fallen into the trap of thinking that having ex-players as announcers makes the telecast more interesting. WRONG! Ex-players are bored watching tennis matches. They don't make good announcers.
