That is a HORRID loss for Ai, hopefully it's largely because she's recovering from her viral ilness...first match in a long while...but losing to Haynes it not good.

She was an up and coming African-American a few years ago. She had something tragic happen to her, I think her brother died in a shooting, and she fell and has yet to climb the ranks. Now she is living out her potential!!! Yayy

It was a motorcycle accident actually. Every death of a black male in America is NOT from a gun shot.

When I saw Haynes at the USOpen in 2004 I thought she could achieve quite a lot, but she never came close to there again.

I still hoped and expected Ai to win this match. She started the year on a top-20 level and it seems that illness really threw her back. :(

Way to go Angela, easily the biggest win of her career. Sugiyama is ranked #25

I think her biggest win was at the 2004 USOpen beating Maleeva, who then was ranked in the top 20 or close to it at least.

Ai has a bit of regrouping to do. I think that injury/illness slowed her down more than she had anticipated:sad:

Angela has come out of nowhere for me. The last time i saw her play was Wimby '05.
