Tough draw for Marion, 2nd round opponent - Peer, if she gets past Katrina. Her game doesnt really match up well against Peer . And Peer will have a mental advantage. Thankfully she is in a bit of a slump. If she gets past that, Chakvetadze should be an easy opponent. Vika waiting in the 4th round :help:

Joee
Mar 9th, 2009, 11:16 PM
Hmm. Peer could be tough indeed. Marion last played her at Wimbledon 2007. But Shahar still leads their head to head 5-1 or something(I cant remember the exact H2H) so Marion will need to compose herself - Im sure she will anyway like.

Allez ma princesse!

Not sure that Shahar Peer will defeat K. Bondarenko. That's why we have to wait.

Concerning Vika, remember that she met difficulties vs S. Lisiki in Memphis.

She has a tough draw, unfortunetly, but I think her mental power will get her through to the quarters. There she will have to be in form if beating Azarenka. But I belive in her, there is no one who have better mentality than Marion right now.

ALLEEEZ!!!

Tough but I think she can beat Peer or K Bondarenko, whoever it may be. Possibility of Azarenka in the QF and Safina in the SF means she has a tough tournament ahead but I'd be happy to bet on her reaching the QF's and from then on, she can show us how it's done!

I actually think it could of been a much worse draw. At least there is no Wozniacki or Zvonareva in her section

If Marion lives up to her seed, her whole game needs to be clicking against Vika (I don't forsee her losing before the 4th round). Vika is the type of player who doesn't like players with a very good defence. They frustrate her (I've seen her self-implode against Wozniacki and Kuznetsovsa). As Marion doesn't posess this, the serve needs to be firing (unlike in the Brisbane final) and her strokes have to be at their best.

Allez!

Marion is a much different player compared to when she lost to Shahar all the time.
These days, she shouldn't lose to a player with a serve like Shahar's.
Also, Marion won their last match 6-3 6-2.

Lighter
Mar 11th, 2009, 08:35 PM
Shahar's serve stats seems to be impressive. As we didn' t see the tie, it's impossible to have an opinion on current Shahar's level. We can trust Marion to be ready to fight. She's so closed of top 10.

Thank you! Marion's victory didn't inspire them much but it's true that this result speaks for itself. At least they acknowledged that Marion is the best French this season. I still got surprised that Amélie wasn't quoted.

Marion will play Peer tomorrow. Shahar's level has dropped a lot but she still has this H2H in her favour. Interesting match to follow so as to check how Marion feels after last week's efforts. It's important to perform well here. All the best, Baba .

As usual, 45 minutes on Davis cup and 5 minutes about female tennis including Marion's win. It seems that they aren't all well informed about fed cup situation, especially former tennis pro player Julien Varlet. Every week, he always has the same speech concerning player's coachs implication. I guess that Carole Bouchard and Myrtille Rambion know the story but they miss some information or prefer not to go further.

After Amélie won Gdf suez open, they talked about her during half an hour. But i understand that Amélie's come back was an interesting subject.

No match is easy, and Peer has a 5-1 in the H2H... Goodluck MarionLast tie in Wimby 2007, 18 months ago. H2H has no issue in this case. Moreover, Marion already broke defeats H2H. So, she's confident and has no problem with playing a friend of her.

So, Marion in 3 like vs Lucie Safarova during OA.

Led 0/30 AGAIN to break back.
What a stupid waste. Old choking Marion back to last year's demons. Not a very meaningful loss but it's a shame it had to happen in one of the most important tournaments of the year. It also compromises her chances to break top 10 soon.

Ok, so a bad loss, yes.
But now she has virtually nothing to defend untill Eastbourne.

I would usually be more upset (especially since she could of been up 6-1 3-0 :o), but: Australian open QF, Brisbane final, Dubai 3rd, Monterrey champion.

It's been a very good start to the year. She isn't going to win every match she's supposed to.

With the exception of JJ and Cibulkova (and only because their second serves are so weak), she has a real problem against players who get a lot of balls and back and don't hit many errors:
.1-6 against Peer
.1-8 against Zvonareva
.0-3 against Wozniacki
.0-3 against Radwanska (gets a lot of 1st serves in)

We also have to remember that Peer is no scrub. This is a player who took Serena to 8-6 in the 3rd at the QF stage of a slam.

It's a bad loss considering how bad Peer was last year, but if she's getting back to her 07 form, it's acceptable.

The reasons why Marion lost:
- French forumers commented on the match which means it was visible somewhere  Perhaps on French TV? Lighter would have to confirm us that. I didn't even think at putting my TV on! They said that Marion was making tons of errors and that Peer was basically doing nothing but waiting for the mistake. Marion would have then explained her loss by a problem to adjusting to the surface/conditions. Once again, I copy what I've read, so I can't say it's truth.

- It was Friday, 13th!

- Marion has this strange pattern of alternating one good result with one average/bad (F, R1, QF, R3, W ...) so it was due to be a bad tournament.

- Another strange figure about Marion's season. She has each time stopped at a different level of the tournament. Results speak for itself, I am only changing the order : R1, R3, QF, F, W. The only missing stages she hasn't reached were/are: R2, SF & R4.

So let's positive ; if Marion follows this trend, she is supposed to play well in Miami ... she will accordingly reach the SF of the tournament :woohoo:Who said I am superstitious?

Perhaps I'm being overly sentimental, but Marion's 2nd Round loss, though disappointing, doesn't diminish the joy I still feel after seeing her break her title drought right here in my country:).Though she doesn't want to make early losses a habit,of course,IW is not a Slam so I don't believe that the defeat there will nullify the confidence Marion got or the progress she made in winning a title again:cool:....VAMOS,:hearts:MARION:hearts:!!!
