In response to all of this talk about what the sisters should have done in response to the Peer debacle, I have one question for those that were around during the time of the Seles stabbing. Did it occur to the two finalists, Graf and someone that I dont remember, to boycott their final. In my mind that event is more cause for boycott than Peers situation. Your thoughts?

Failing security and open discrimination are two totally different things.
One is more akin to an accident, the other is a premeditated act.

I disagree. Even though the tourny had started at the point of Monica's stabbing, each finalist could have still taken a stand by refusing to play it. Isn't that essentially what boycotts about? Taking a stand against something one deems wrong, inappropriate, unacceptable.

The one you don't remember is Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, who defeated Graf 6-3, 6-3 to win the title.

Boycott? how could they boycott in the middle of the tournament.
I think the appropriate action could have been suspend the whole
tournament. Because an active player during a match is stabbed on the court while playing. As a matter of sympathy it is deemed
necessary to do so.

I don't really know what that would have achieved. And where do you stop with boycotts? Human rights violations are appalling in China - so how about criticizing all the players for not boycotting Beijing.

i think it sucks big time, but life goes on. its not personal it's business. next thing you know you'd want them to suspend the rankings.
