This is exactly what I predicted - Vika in straight set. They are just in different leagues. Vika is now at the level of Sharapova, while Wozniacki is about the same as Aga Radwanska, consistent but no big weapon.

If this Carolina plays like Martina then she wouldn't have to go out and get a Plan B. I don't think I've seen her play, but Hingis would have made it a better scoreline.

Ok, snap out of it Dawn. Caroline is not Hingis. Hingis is retired.

Well Caro has still won 2 of their 3 matches, and she has more titles despite being younger, so I would still give her the edge for the moment, but Vika definitely appears to be playing better than Caro in 2009 so far and it looks like she's going to beat Caro to the Top 10.

Quite the pounding between two players who should be on a pretty even level. Vika really seems to be putting some distance between her and the likes of Wozniacki, and Radwanska this season. Top 10 is in her near future. I would like to see her put up some results in the Premier tournaments though.

Agree with her first chance at Indian Wells especially with no Serena or Venus to deal with despite her performance against Serena at Australian Open.

Vika in straight sets ? What I had had to laugh with her tactics when seeing her against struggling Safarova in Brisbane : One dimensional, I say to you.

That was one of the best matches Safarova has played in quite a while. Vika was getting hit clean of court for the most part, and ended up playing some high percentage, clever tennis in order to negate Safarova's hot-shit stuff. Drawing her into legnthy baseline exchanges, keeping extreme depth on everything yet going over the high part of the net was about the only realistic option in that match. No chance Vika was going to out-gun or out-ballbash Safarova from the baseline, so out-rallying and out-manoeuvring her was the smartest opion.

By the way, La Borz is every inch as one-dimensional as Azarenka is, if not more so. I'm guessing because La Borz doesn't hit as hard, or as cleanly as Vika, the easy thing to say is that she must have tons of dimensions to her game, in comparison. Wrong. She can't volley to save her life, and apart from throwing in a few junky shots from time-to-time (which has more to do with the shortcomings of her own game, rather than anything else), doesn't have the tools required to be some sort of magical tactician on a tennis court. Baseline grinding is what she does, only she does it with such an ugly technique and completely devoid of flair, that anyone actually looking at hr game for what it is would find it impossible to like her. I anxiously await the response "ZOMG sHE WASN A PUSHER IN SYDNEE AgANST QUENN REE!!!!!!111!!!". One match. For every one of those she plays, there will be about a dozen of her matches against Craybas at Aukland this year.

Azarenka volleys much better, and has better touch shots in comparison.

If anything, Vika is a failed ballbasher, who realised that she didn't have enough firepower off the ground to overpower the elite, so decided on becoming Zvonareva 2.0. She beats scrubs with consumate ease, yet rarely troubles the elite, and when she does she has to pay to the limit.

In La Borz's case, she's a baseline grinder who often borderlines on being a straight up pusher. She plays with such determination in her groundstrokes that you think she's desperate to be a ballbasher, but she just simply doesn't have the tools required.

Well they mean she hasnt been beaten by an opponent, its different when you don't complete the match due to illness or injury....we can't say if she was going to lose or win and will never know, still, we cant say for sure this is a loss or defeat.

Official loss? Fed Cup wasn't?

Your statments sound as if they come from the schoolyard.
"It didn't count, I had crossed my fingers"

Come on.
Yes Azarenka beat Wozniacki by alot, far and square, just as Wozniacki beat Azarenka last year in the US Open and this year in the Fed Cup.

And Azarenka looks like she might make into the top 10 before Wozniacki.

But I think both girls, if asked, would concider all 3 games as equally important.

...so you want her to peak way too early, get injured, and live in uncertainty.

...how about players just having theiw own type careers.

as I wrote, "years later" = not peaking too early - "without bad injury". And basically was is left is winning slams and being a threat at every tournaments she enters, not just the international tournaments. I'm sorry if me wanting to have my favorite player to win slams is a bad thing.
