Poor Anne. I hope she doesn't suffer loss of confidence because this really hammers home the distance she is from being top 20.

I don't think it's possible to recuperate from something as embarrassing as a 6-1 6-0 loss to Wozniacki.

I guess it's possible such as when Dementieva lost 6-0 6-0 to Mauresmo in Paris 2003. She recovered.

Nah, she'll recover. I mean she got to the semifinals here after losing to Chakvetadze in Melbourne. If she can recover from that she can recover from anything!

Anyone got a report on the match? Obviously from the score it looks like a monumental beating for Anne. It was always going to be tough. Wozniacki is one of the best young players on the tour, but I thought Anne might put up a decent fight. She's done well to get to the semis, although as the 4th seed, its what was expected.
Was it as one sided as it sounds?

The comparison falls flat because Wozniacki is a pushing Mickey Mouse loving journeywoman who has the most unimpressive game in the top 100. Mauresmo on the other hand is a world class athlete who even in 2003 was an awesome force in women's tennis.

Judging like that, Anne is also nowhere near Dementieva's level and she doesn't have a lot of experience playing top 20 players.

Hmmm . I really wonder how a player of Anne's level can get beaten so badly by Wozniacki. Pretty surprising... It makes the competition to the top 10 entry even tougher, it's the only positive I can get from this loss...
Great tournament, Anne.

It also falls flat in that Caroline is an 18-year-old up-and-comer who is not yet fully developed as a player while Mauresmo is an old veteran approaching has-been status.

Oh Anne  Not much I can say, just forget about this match and move on.
Still, less than 1 year ago if you were to say that Anne would reach a two semi finals in 2 months, being soundly beaten in one of them -- I would have been thrilled!

Caro :yeah: Take the tite :D

and I guess in ten years time when Caroline is 28 and if she still hasn't won a grand slam, we can compare them then.
