I'm watching their match right now and Serena is nowhere near what she was yesterday. Yesterday she was hitting winners off everything, moving well, thinking well and today she's just errorena.

Something's up ... Serena never hits 5 double-faults in a match, let alone a set

I do think she gets nervous against Venus; Venus used to be the sister who struggled mentaly when they played now I think it is Venus.

Yes, it is true.
But Serena never stays nervous for long

She will pick up her game.

Venus better be ready when that happens.

Because when Serena finds her range after struggling, she can be devastating.

Family decision.

The ugly insinuation again.

What an insult to the WS professionalism and parents

LOL. Sister matches are all mental. Most of the time you can throw previous form out the window.

Unfortunately for Venus , that could be the case.

When playing against Serena, Venus has trouble separating her role as big sister from her profession.

Venus hasn't lost a point on her serve in the first set! Serena could just win 10 points...

Well Venus won. IMO I think the roles have changed again, at first it was Serena who was mentally weak when she played big sis, then Serena dominated like crazy and now Venus is starting to notch up the wins out of the two. Since 2003 I think they have H2H of like 5-2 V's way?

Yep. When Venus is up and Serena is struggling, Venus has admitted to having mental lapses in which she silently coaches/coaxes Serena to pull herself together, rather than concentrating on what's going on on her side of the net. She still struggles with being divided and wanting both of them to win and has to periodically remind herself that Serena is actually her opponent... When Venus puts it aside and plays solely for herself, she's hard to beat.

And whether or not Serena will ever admit it, I often think that she wants to beat Venus so badly (typical kid sister desire), but is also aware that Venus is not like any other opponent (for one thing they are closer in ability to each other than they are to the rest of the tour). As a result, she stresses/psychs herself out and tends to have these slow starts, or play apalling, uncharacterstic low level of tennis. But when Serena channels her desire and controls it properly? Watch out...

It's hard enough to watch their matches so I can't imagine what it would be like for them out there.

She has admitted on numerous occasions that she always wants to beat Vee and has to play her "best tennis" against her.

I think they both get nervous, but sometimes I feel Serena is that way at the beginning and Vee is that way at the end...if that makes sense. It's really a hard dynamic to try and figure out, but they both definitely get nervous.
