No WTA title for Kanepi
her last ITF title is in 2005....

Well, as she's climbing up in 2009, what do you think about her maiden title?
is it possible?

even if she beat jankovic in dubai I dont see her winning a title soon and certainly not such a big tournament as dubai.
She's good but still have many weaknesses and a quite unidimensional game. I wont be surprised if she lost today against vesnina despite a lead of 1 set and a break.
She 's not strong mentally.

She is not fast enough her defensive skills need lots of work....

shes only good when shes given time to attack, Jankovic gave her lots of time to attack

Big thing: she is playing pretty much only the elite events. She's good but not good enough to regularly challenge for Tier I and II titles. She'd be a queen at Tier III, IV events, but she's too good to keep playing them and wants to improve by facing the best.

Same thing happened with Kournikova, Hantuchova, Petrova... if you reach a certain level before you are really going to challenge for every big title, you aren't going to have much of a title haul until you CAN challenge for every big title.

Isn't clay Kaia's favorite surface? She won RG junior title few years ago... Of course she is more than capable of winning a lower level tournament.

Agree...she is no mickey mouse player.
She plays the big tournaments unlike Pennetta and co who just bludged of international events

While I agree that Pennetta should be playing higher quality events, I give any player under 21 a bit of a free pass in terms of what Tier level they compete at. I really do think that young players (Pennetta not being one of them) have to get used to winning, and that means winning titles anywhere they can. Once you are comfortably winning most Tier IV/III events you play, you can make the leap, and then there's an adjustment period. Of course, as a rule I'm a fan of players who spend their entire careers in the 11-20 range, so maybe my idea of career arcs isn't all that sound ;) .

Kaia has only scheduled 3 International Events until Wimbledon:
Brisbane [R1to Kleybanova]
Barcelona
's-Hertogenbosch

I think she won't have much of a chance to win a bigger one & these 3 may be stacked, too
