After this week's dissapointing loss against former top20 player Daniilidou, Misa will play Qualification for WTA Memphis. She got a Wildcard :)

First up is Carly Gullickson ( WTA 144 ). Misa defeated her in Auckland this year 6-0/6-4. But things are a bit different now. Misa made her comeback this week after an ankle injury.

If Misa wins against Gullickson, she will have to play Dubois or Tatishvilli for a place in the MD.

That wasn't easy, but she won :)
Next up: Stephanie Dubois (CAN, 114) or Anna Tatishvili (GEO, 152).
The winner of that match qualifies.
Qualifiers can meet Caroline Wozniacki, Alla Kudryavtseva, Lucie Hradecka or Stephanie Cohen-Aloro.

Good luck in the next round Misa!

If she has to play Steph, I fear it could be a quick match - unless Steph is very tired. First time I saw Misa play live was against Steph at AO 2005 quallies. She won is straight sets I believe 4 and 3 or similar.

Misa plays the 5th match on Centercourt today. That will be at the end of the evening/night in Holland.
Dubois and Tatishvili play their match also today.

Dubois #114
http://weblog.stevedeschenes.com/photos/StephanieDubois/DuboisStephanie_010a.jpg
Stephanie has been ranked for a couple of years just outside the top100. Last year she was a top100 player for a couple of weeks, peaking at 95. Now she is ranked #114.
Stephanie played Midland 75K last week where she reached the quarterfinals, losing to a upcoming Russian named Rodina.
This year Steph played qualified for the Australian Open. Defeating Ferguson, Kucova and Ula Radwanska. In the MD she lost against top30 player Sugiyama 0-6/6-7.
Misa leads the head to head 1-0. 6-4/6-3 at the AO in 2005

Tatishvili #152
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0eNadul8tm9QA/340x.jpg
Anna is a young Georgian that lives in the USA. This week she has reached her career high of #152. Anna has a good game but she hasn't been able to put it all together. She has received some MD WC's for Miami in the past. In 2007 she lost against Krajicek in the first round 2-6/6-7(2). Therefore Krajicek leads the head to head 1-0.
2009 hasn't been very succesful so far for the Georgian. She lost in Hobart and the AO ( both qualifying events ) against Czink and Sprem in 2 quick sets.

So she has to play Dubois, who beat tatishvili in 3 sets...hope Dubois's a bit tired then. ;)

I think Steph was probably quite tired, but still nice win! :D Now let's hope she gets Cohen in the MD.

You were right, it was a quick match , and probably because Stephanie was still tired. It is a bit of a shame, that they scheduled that this way, but I guess it helped Misa. No Cohen unfortunately :(

1st round MD: Misa vs. Alla Kudryavtseva (7) (RUS, 64)

They had to schedule it this way because Steph was still playing midland on Friday, and so if she lost there (which she did), she is allowed to play her 1st r (and 2nd if she wins, which she did) on the Saturday. ;)

Hmm Alla really hasn;t played well yet this year - i saw her in Hobart & AO and she lost this week in Midland to Begu 1 and 2 or something, so it's not *too* bad. Hopefully it can be at least a close match.

Sasja
Feb 15th, 2009, 07:54 AM
That explains it. I saw the results of Midland, but somehow it had not sunk in
Alla has not had the best start of the season. But it is so hard to predict the matches of Misa. Could be an interesting match though. Come on Misa!

Totally off topic, but what a final in R'dam: Rafa vs Murray!

DutchieGirl
Feb 15th, 2009, 08:02 AM
It's a pity for me though, because I like Alla since Hobart this year - I got to meet her there and she's really nice and funny. But of course I hope Misa will win. Yeah, I have given up predicting Misa's matches now.

Yes, nice final of Rottingdam (yes, I know I spelt it wrong :p ). I hope Murray will win.

Allah??
No it's Alla Kudryavtseva, a 21 year old Russian. Currently ranked at 64.
This girl can play good tennis, last year at Wimbledon she caused a major upset defeating fellow Russian; Sharapova in straight sets.
She hasn't been impressive so far this year. Losing in the final round of Hobart quallies. Losing against Safina in straight sets at the AO. Last week in Midland she won against Albanese but lost 1 and 2 against an upcoming Romanian: Begu.

Sarah(Dutchiegirl) met Alla in Hobart and she liked her. Alla is a nice and friendly girl:)
Misa and Alla(h) will play on Monday or Tuesday. Good opportunity for Misa to win a WTA MD match since 's-Hertogenbosch 2008
Come on!!!

2nd round against Kristina Barrois (GER, 85)
Last year October Misa lost 3-6 4-6 against Barrois 1st round in Ismaining.
(but that was after Misa played the final in Bratislava after 3 matches in qualifications ;)).

Time for revenge  Good luck Misa!

holy crap, that was nervewrecking in that final set, watching the live scores!
I didn't expect her to win the tie break since Barrois serve was amazing (like 16 aces) So well done misa, Congrats!

Sasja
Feb 17th, 2009, 05:37 PM
Yes, me too. Barrois had the easier service games (thanks to 16 aces). At 5-5 and
0-40 down... I did not expect Misa to come back from that or win the tie break.
Great stuff. :worship:

Quarterfinal: Misa - Caroline Wozniacki (DEN, 12)
It's the fourth match on centre today. First match starts at 10.00 local time (17.00 Dutch time). So Misa will be on court around 22.00 Dutch time.

Sarah, that's around 7 in the morning for you, isn't it? A much better time for you than her earlier matches ;)

7am is not better for me either during the week - then I am getting ready for, and going to work...although I came on this morning to see if the match was on and it looks like it doesn't start till about 9am - which is much better for me. Then I will almost b eat work. ;)

Due to her good week in Memphis, Misa will move up to nr. 169 of the WTA-ranking.
Her doubles final is today (last match on court). Does anyone know if she is still able to play quallies for Clearwater?

DutchieGirl
Feb 21st, 2009, 08:05 AM
She should be able to if they let her delay her quallie match till Sunday US time.

Elwin.

Sasja

Misa is not in the Q-draw of Clearwater
Did she receive a WC for the MD or did she maybe withdrew? Does anyone know? The quallies haven't started there yet. On her website it said that she is also trying to get a WC for the WTA-tournament in Monterrey which starts 2nd of March. So maybe she managed to get a WC for that and skip Clearwater..

Whatzup
Feb 22nd, 2009, 08:05 AM
I think she got the maindraw WC, there was one left and it was for her or Dannilidou, and Dannilidou is in the qualifying draw, so I think Misa has the maindraw WC.

A WC would be good, so she can I have a bit of rest before the tournament starts :)

It's on hardcourt ;) (a new WTA-tournament)

DutchieGirl
Feb 22nd, 2009, 08:43 AM
OK then it's a good choice if she can get aWC. If it was clay then it'd be a bad choice. ;)

i thought it was clay so i was like: WTF
but i only thought it was clay because it's in Mexico  :weirdo:

THANK GOD it's on hardcourt :) Let's hope she can get a WC
