Both players in doubles team send doubles points

* If both players have correct answer in Team A and only one player on Team B has correct answer. Team A wins Set.
* If both players have correct answer in Team A and both players in Team B have correct answer. Points decide the set.

Team Northern Europe Battles Through
http://www.wtnphotos.com/data/500/northerneurope.gif

AP - Team Northern Europe marched through to the Fed Cup semifinals today with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Team USA, Americas, & Pacific. The two teams battled it out to the bitter end throughout the weekend, and in the end it was the Northern Europeans who came out on top.

Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki started off the tie with a bang, winning a come-from-behind win over American Venus Williams 0-6 7-6 6-0. The Dane started off the match on the wrong foot, going down a quick bagel in just 20 minutes. However, a spirited Northern Europe bench powered Wozniacki to a tight second set win in which she overcame 5 match points on her own serve down 4-5. With the momentum and a home crowd, the youngster beat her veteran opponent, winning the deciding set with a bagel of her own to give Northern Europe a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after that victory, Team Northern Europe suffered a blow to its confidence as Kim Clijsters had to withdraw from her rubber against Britain's Anne Keothavong. Kim Clijsters, who in a press conference after Day 1 cited a sprained ankle during practice for her withdrawal, returned the next day well rested to take on the pair of Jie Zheng and Maria-Emilia Salerni of China and Argentina, respectively, in a doubles rubber with her German partner, Anna-Lena Groenefeld. This match was another thriller as promised, with the Northern European pair winning a hotly contested first set 7-5. In the second, the Chinese/Argentinian pair came back from two breaks and a match point down to take the second set and force a decider. In a show of solidarity, however, the Belgian and German held off their opponents with a vengeance, not allowing them to win a single game to give their Fed Cup team a 2-1 lead.

With a chance to close out the tie for Team Northern Europe, Caroline Wozniacki took the court riding a wave of confidence with her 3-set win over Venus Williams the first day. However, Australian Jelena Dokic had other plans in mind, winning a topsy-turvy match in just a little over 2 hours to send the tie into the 5th and final rubber.

After 3 days and a total of 9 hours of match play, the Northern Europeans finally came out on top with a 6-0 4-6 6-0 victory by Anna-Lena Groenefeld over world #3 American Venus Williams. Despite a lapse in the second set, the 16th-ranked German showed glimpses of good form that could be a harbinger for things in the future. Walking tall, Team Northern Europe goes into the semifinals to face a loaded Southern Europe team with #6 Flavia Pennetta and #7 Jelena Jankovic slated to play.
