Great effort from Isabella :hug:
She lost the first (which was closer than the scoreline suggests) and put up an amazing fight in the second.
She went up an early break and served for the set at 5-4. But AMG dug deep and only won on her 8th match point. Most of those MPs were saved by forcing play from the 17 y.o. In fact she hit 29 winners for the match

I think it's safe to say AUSSIE GIRLS GOT GAME :D

Enjoyable match! 8 MP's for Garrigues and 5/22 on BP's. Holland has strange footwork on her serve but is enjoyable to watch.

So proud of Isabella. Did well to make a match of it in the second after the first set.

Isabella played an amazing second set. Her forehand is massive and if she lines her backhand, it's also an extremely powerful shot. Just too much experience from Anabel today in the 2nd set.

Nice job Anabel, really had to work for the second set but got it done. Good luck in round 2!

Anabel played like shit today. Half of points she lost was because of stupid unforced errors.

But still good effort from Holland. Definitely She has soemthing in her game that makes her a good prospect :yeah:

The crowd was crazy in this match in the 2nd set, fun to watch. Barely anybody was watching in the first set though because Issy was foot faulting everywhere and just going for a bit to much. She was always go to struggle against a fantastic defender like Garrigues.

2nd set was great tennis she played really well. Still some foot faults and some iffy calls but stayed extremely composed through out the match . Shame she was up 5-3 and couldn't finish it off, she basically handed her those game through unforced errors. Good effort over all and the way she saved those match points was just awesome. Shame she couldn't come out with that set.

I was at this match. Anabel second set was shit :help: she needs to learn how to hit a ball in if she wants to go further into the tournament. But WOW this girl has game, she going to be big. Her forehand is massive, her backhand is very consistant also. But still she really impressed me. Although i was the only person in the bloody stands cheering for Anabel :help:

But anabel learn how to hit a ball n, and your forehand was completly pathetic today. wow.

Holland just turned 17 and she already has a massive forehand. It's improved out of sight in the last 12 months from being a weapon to being totally destructive. If she can add some depth to her backhand rally strokes (she hit some lovely down the line backhands) and stop running around them at every chance, she has a really bright future.
