Bad loss, Sybille.
If Šafářová played the way she did in Brisbane against Azarenka then it's not a bad loss at all.

Sybille said in an interview, that she was not able to keep the ball in play, she made tons of Unforced Errors.

Sybille in good form loves to play against Lucie (like you can see in their H2H) :p

Well, looking at the results of the Austrians today it´s maybe good that Bam Bam, Tamira and Yvonne won´t play
the Fed-Cup

Our #1-player there (Patricia Mayr) is the only one who won her match today :rocker2:

2003 VALASSKE MEZIRICI HARD (I) F S. BAMMER 6-4 6-1
2006 SAN DIEGO HARD (O) R64 S. BAMMER 6-4 6-7(6) 6-1
2007 EASTBOURNE GRASS (O) R16 S. BAMMER 7-6(5) 5-7 6-3
2008 OLYMPICS - CHINA HARD (O) R16 S. BAMMER 7-5 6-4

Disregarding their first meeting when Safarova was pretty much a junior player, their matches were quite close, even at times when Safarova was in no form at all (the Olympics). I can imagine Lucie having problems against lefty moonballers, but it seems her shots were all landing in yesterday.

Bammer struggled last season. The only reason she even stayed in the top 50 was some good summer hardcourt and indoor results. This shouldn't hurt that much. (Bammer) She lost in the 2nd round last year. Lets hope she says in the top 30 for the next few years. She's mildly interesting.

Sybille is underrated on this board. She is able to play really (!) aggressive, she goes for her shots now. Believe it or not.

I am elated over this result. :bounce:

Keep going, Lucie. :D

Regarding the match itself, it looks like Lucie mixed it up a lot more than she has in the past against Bammer, and also hit at her more. That might explain why Bammer made more errors.
